Why not just get the respec mod and save yourself 60 hours?

Because, unlike an MMO, this is supposed to be fun to play rather than work.

He was referring to the fact that you can save yourself the trouble of making a new character just for Awakening.

Yeah, but sometimes there are things you can't change with the respec thing. Like in my first playthrough I accidently killed the mages (yes, accidently, don't bother asking) and then got to Redcliffe and couldn't save Connor. My mage had a million different things wrong with her story that I want to fix.

I am, I just started a new mage the other day, so hopefully I can get him to 25 in a couple more days...
I keep restarting my character over an over.

I know how you feel, I've started the same type of character three times, this character being the newest incarnation.

I am so damn anal about my character, I want him so perfect.
I've stopped and deleted a character before that was actually/literally half way through the whole game (including DLC).

yup, i am playing my perfect evil character right now. he is an evil mage. i'd like to get a royal dwarf finished too, but that probably won't happen before the 16th. my lawful female warrior queen is ready to load up :D

Hello, just my 2 cents,

I can understand that you start a new playground if you are not totally satisfied with the choice you have made.

However, as the extension will be balanced for a level 18 Orlesian GW, I believe that it would already be much easier with a mean imported GW (with a level about 22, better equipment and a few bonus acquired during the campaign like in the fade). Aren’t you afraid that the extension would be really too easy with a level 25?

Personally, I have already 4 finished playgrounds and I wouldn’t change anything to any of them.

I personally do not play DA for any combat or challenge, I play it as an interactive cinematic experience. i don't mean to sound rude, i just don't enjoy the combat of DA and don't mind rushing through combat as quickly as possible, so no experience is too easy. i know a lot of people would scoff at that playstyle, and that is fine. i'm just really interested in the story and can't be bothered with having to repeat any fight or dying ever. (i'm sure this makes devs cringe but sorry)

alternatively, for people who are specifically looking for a challenge, wouldn't it be most prudent to go into Awakenings with a L25 so the enemies scale from the start of the game and you have that entire time for the most challenging possible fights?

Just started one as well. Was all pre-planned when I heard of the expansion. I've been taking a break from dragon age with mass effect and other games just to get my apetite up for another run + expansion.

I happen to be in the middle of playthrough so I'm hoping to finish before awakening comes out. Question to anyone whos done it by the way. Is the ritual considered an " evil" action by your party members? I think I'll just try to avoid the whole US deal unless bioware surprises everyone.

I too am in the middle of a "perfect" playthrough.

I was torn with the whole ritual.  I played as a HFN and had Alistair go ahead with it, even though I felt very, very dirty afterwards.  I even tried to tell myself that through the whole game I was totally unselfish and helped everyone and went on my companions' personal quests, and I started to feel a little better... until afterwards Alistair had to mention it at the end and said the Grey Wardens were asking about it, and then I was like, Oh, s***.  Then I felt sleazy again and not like a hero at all!  A real hero would have sacrificed him/herself.  I can just see Wynne shaking her finger at me now...  What an awesome game!

But this "perfect" playthrough, I'm going to do it all over again, just because I do think it is important for a possible sequel.  Why have it an option at all if it wasn't going to be?

I started this character because i fell in love with Dual Wielding Warrior on another character, and I converted him into my main, doing everything i wanted to do to make it perfect for awakening.

What I did do is sell all my dlc equipment and all the things I wasn't using on my pc (on my portrait character) and gave most of the gold to the camp collection box, nudged me up to level 24. I also made this character just because I wanted to take a mage into awakening that I didn't hate, I still don't like him but I prefer him to my other mages.

Ha, dude I actually have similar sentiments. I do enjoy the fighting, but I enjoy the story so much more.

On topic, i haven't created an entirely new character, but I'll be going back to a save point on my PC to re-do some things. Namely to do ostagar before the landsmeet since it's coming out on ps3 this weekend, and to alter his specializations to champion/templar, cuz I want a champion/templar/guardian
