Screw the Prequel. Why do people want to see things we know the end to, totally silly idea.

Move forward and ONWARD.

Screw that, move sideways.  The path no one expects is the path *says something insightful*

When the enemy presents two options, strike at a third. =]

Prequel idea would be ridiculous. Half the appeal of the game is the feeling like your choices are having some affect on the galaxy. Can't get that feeling if the end result has already been determined by ME1.

As much as I LOVE Mass Effect (it's my favourite games series), I don't want to see any more games after Mass Effect 3. I just don't want them to milk the series (though I doubt Bioware will), and I think Mass Effect is good as just a game about Shepard's story. I mean when I play, I play like I am Shepard; so to then go and play as someone else in another Mass Effect game would be... out of place.

I disagree. The Mass Effect world is thought out fairly well, with lots of races, conflicts, and stories yet to be told, that do not have to be the story of *WIN OR THE UNIVERSE DIES*.

I would be totally fine with a good ME3 ending, my Shep retiring to run a colony for orphans, or others Sheps becoming a general, or retiring into obscurity or becoming a merc. I wouldn't mind at all to play another character in this fictional setting that seems to be fairly well thought out and not just the home of a single character.

I say no, simply because I feel once the trilogy is over, it'll be able to be extended with DLC.

I don't want Bioware turning into Bungie.

"So we'll make the first, second, and third games, then make a game that's in between the second and third, and then making a prequel to the entire series, based on a book that anyone who knows the universe knows the end to."

Prequel trilogy! Humanity BEFORE they discovered the Mass Relays!

Mass Effect: World War 2

I can see it already...

Neville Chamberlain: Ah yes, "German war plans"...

/edited since apparently the word that begins with "n" and ends with "azi" appears to be filtered for some reason

now......how in gods name would that be a good idea?

...uh..no

go play Company of Heroes or World at War or something if you want to play a game set before mankind discovered the Relays.

There should be sequels after Mass Effect but no matter what the possibility of them should NOT make Bioware more reluctant to make the endings of ME3 varied.

I have never known EA to milk a game franchise. Wait...oh crap

Know what WOULD be awesome?

Playing as a Reaper when you're harvesting the galaxy. New races, new planets, new weapons... for 30 hours until you wipe them off the face of the galaxy with a presumably full stomach!

The same way I went on with my life knowing there would never be a Baldur's Gate game after Throne of Bhaal.
We all need to accept this; no matter what ending we get in ME 3, it is still the end of all. Bittersweet only begins to describe how I'll feel at that point.

Well there will be more games, they already confirmed that. But I could totally go for a prequel. First Contact war and what not.

I think it'd be good stopping at ME3 and then maybe making a RTS version of the game. A RTS could have scenarios set in rachni, krogen, geth uprising, and first contact wars easily (different campaigns), as well as battles set in game timeline. An RTS would probably be the only way to even remotely capture the grand scale of the final reaper conflict (besides cinamatics).

A new trilogy would be quite the project, both for developers and for gamers. I wouldn't mind some stand-alone titles though.

If Bioware makes more Mass Effect games after ME3 I would rather them make the time setting 50 or so years after the events of ME3 and play as the child or protégé of Shepherd or one of his team.

I'll say it.

The ME series needs to end after 3.  After that it's pretty much guaranteed to be crap.  Better to go out with a bang.  Assuming of course that ME3 is a bang, but you get the idea.

That's a load.  When they put this much time into the politics and science of a functioning universe, it leaves them with a lot of room to continue to play.  Look at Star Wars or Star Trek or Elder Scrolls or Fallout--once the universe is laid down it's just a matter of coming up with new stories.

Also it would be a waste of good gameplay and setting.

I personally like my idea but I also know it wouldn't sell

Why? The last game had great character interaction but a crap story.

Seems they could keep up their great character interaction and only improve with good stories. I get annoyed that everyone thinks that every story in the RPG world has to be an epic story aobut saving the kingdom, world or galaxy. ME2 was a fun game with a horribad story about fighting a bunch of bugs.

I can't see a reason they can't top that, but just telling a personal story of a guy or gal in the ME universe.

I think another story in completely unrelated to this trilogy but still in the ME universe would be cool. Perhaps a merc story. It would be cool to play fully customizable different races and have a more traditional RPG in that sense for a new story.
