You'd find a way, I'm sure. If you really struggle, I can recommend visiting a disaster zone or a favela. Then you can learn the true meaning of hardship.

I'll say it.
The ME series needs to end after 3. After that it's pretty much guaranteed to be crap. Better to go out with a bang. Assuming of course that ME3 is a bang, but you get the idea.
That's a load. When they put this much time into the politics and science of a functioning universe, it leaves them with a lot of room to continue to play. Look at Star Wars or Star Trek or Elder Scrolls or Fallout--once the universe is laid down it's just a matter of coming up with new stories.
Star Trek and Star Wars are exactly what I was thinking of when I made that post. They tried to go on after their expiration date, and now they're both garbage.
I'm not familiar with Fallout, but my understanding is that it's only on it's third installment, and from what I hear opinions on that latest game are very mixed. Not much of an example.

Mass Effect 3 needs to be the end. Anything else, and EA wins.
An "end" for these characters stories?
Sure. Let's finish the story that we're experiencing with Shepard and his crew.
But an "end" for the universe that Mass Effect resides in?
Heck no. Plenty more stories to be told. Just with different people; different fights; different struggles; different....well...everything. Just as long as it feels like it belongs in the Mass Effect universe, then that's good enough for me (story wise at least). There's plenty of races out there that we've not run across in our own galaxy, let along all those other galaxies, eh?

Still, I feel like I know enough about what happened in the past of the Mass Effect world. And besides, humanity hasn't been on the intergalactic stage for all that long, so there isn't much past to even go into.

Rather have distant sequels than prequels: see the Mass Effect world a hundred years down the line, and how Shepard affected it. Although, depending on what happens at the end of ME3, it might be hard to write around whatever plot branches happen in the ending..
Yeah I think they should skip it forward a century or two for the next (post-ME3) game. Not really a fan of prequels, and setting it far enough in the future would allow them to breeze over the Shepard (and his "decisions") stuff in a way that wouldn't break anybody's continuity.

Screw the Prequel. Why do people want to see things we know the end to, totally silly idea.
Move forward and ONWARD.

You mean you actually WANT a prequel trilogy to Mass Effect? Similarly to how there was a prequel trilogy to Star Wars??

Also with a prequel the outcome of the story is already known so player choices don't have a huge impact on the conclusion, so a bit like ME3 in that respect.
Not as though the journey shouldn't still be enjoyable in a prequel.
So there is nothing to stop the story of next game in the series running in parallel with Shepards story as it is a big universe out there. The other option is a reboot.
Or you make one of the endings 'canon' and take it from there. Ultimately its Bioware's choice as to what course the series takes next . People interested in coming back to the series will have to wait until the team working on the next installment have something they are willing to share with their customers.
