Is Jack Ever Useful?

Heh, woops, bumped the "Enter" key and created an empty topic.

So, I ask this question because I've been trying to get past my dislike of the character, and see how useful the "most powerful human biotic" really is.  So far, she just dies a lot.  While picking up Tali, I had to spend three medigel waking Jack up, and it would have been six had I not just let her lie there half the time.

In other words, she fares about as well as one would expect from a half-naked person who occasionally fires shockwaves at things.

Does this ever change?  Is there a situation in which this supposedly incredibly powerful biotic does anything other than get shot and fall over?  Or should I just leave her in the cargo hold?

she's pretty good for husks and other melee enemies. Other than that warp ammo is pretty awesome if you use it right.

Pull is one of the best biotics in the game. Bring either miranda or thane with you when you bring jack, and you can setup some huge warp explosions.

Personally, as a Vanguard, I see no real use for her in MY squad due to the redundancy however I could see her being useful in other situations in which one decides to play a less offensive character. Then again, I'm not the expert on balancing your squad; I just know what works for me.

Hmm. I brought her along with my vanguard once, as I recall, and she died as quickly as she did for my infiltrator on Haestrom.

Maybe it's because I don't take direct control of squadmates all that often. It doesn't feel terribly realistic to me to say, effectively, "You're the best of the best the galaxy has to offer. Now don't move an inch without asking me first." :)

good for squad warp ammo for the collector missions (redundant if you have ammo on shep already) & pull warp combos (enemys need to be down to health), otherwise she's trash with a skinhead ugh

If only she could take out 3 Ymir Mechs in 10 seconds like when you first release her...

Don't hate on sub zero because she looks more 'metal' than miranda. She is however, a bit of a letdown (even leveled completely up) considering she is supposed to be the Anakin Skywalker of ME2.

She, like most characters, can be very situational.

I use her on all Collector missions, not only for Squad Warp Ammo, but because of Shockwave, which can go through Collector shields and push enemies off ledges. In those same situations, I usually have someone with Warp, so she sets up warp explosions. Any map with lots of cover and ledges, she excels.

She is very valuable as crowd control on the higher difficulties. I find that most enemies are stripped of armor/shields/barriers very quickly on Insane, but their health usually lingers. Pull and Shockwave really help controlling the battlefield.

It is a personal taste issue mainly, and again, very situation as it is with every character.

I never used her as either a Vanguard or a Soldier, as with those classes I was generally more interested in squad mates who could strip defenses of some kind. However, with the Sentinel I bring her along almost every mission, and she's working out quite nicely. I strip the defenses with a Warp or an Overload, and Jack sends them flying with a Shockwave or a Pull. Shockwave or Pull are both great for getting enemies out of cover.

I really wasn't expecting to use her much on an Insanity run, but she's proven useful (except for the first platform fight on the Collector ship, where both Jack and Zaeed were Hell-bent on committing suicide).

Wow. I feel like I've put out several videos with Jack in them where she's totally shown off as a great character. What a shame.

Jack is pretty good. I always seem to need a teammate with Pull though as I think it is easily one of the best powers in the game. Squad Warp Ammo is nice but having multiple squad ammo powers on teammates triggers a funky AI war where you never really know what you are going to get. I cry a little inside when Thane overrides his Squad Warp with 1 point Shredder.

She's one of only three squadmates who can partner with Shepard to create Warp Explosions, and of the three, she's one of the two that gets biotic cooldown upgrade and a special biotic upgrade on top to boot.

If you're either a Sentinel or an Adept, Pull assistance is major. Bring along Miranda, Samara, or Thane for stripping defenses and you're good to go. The alternative is Jacob. It just depends on whether you like to roll with Sqaud Inciendary or Squad Warp. Also, Jacob is slightly tougher with Barrier, but Jack's slightly more useful in long range situations with Shockwave.

I took her with me on Jacob's loyalty mission as an engineer on insanity. Watching her and Jacob take cover next to each other, pull everything to themselves, and then shotgun it with Jacob's squad ammo was pretty fun.

Samara is better. Both have Pull, but Samara has Reave which is definitely better than Shockwave. AR is a lot better than a Shotgun (for your squad that is).
Warp ammo is nice, but not good enough for me (when playing Vanguard) to take Jack with me on regular basis. But she is still pretty good squadmate imho.

Problem with Jack is she has a shotgun and by time she gets close up to an enemy she is dead. Warp ammo is good though, wish Samara had it then she would be unstoppable.

If you don't like Jack using a shotgun, you can always make her use the carnifex.

Just sayin'

Dunno what I'm saying ... there are so many good squadmate choices I never pick Jack.

I like Jack, and I actually found that I used her more on Hardcore and Insanity difficulties.

I was kinda disappointed though, the first time it shows her, she kills 3 heavy mechs with her bare hands, and then I find myself wondering why she can't do that during actual combat. :(

But, if you can manage to take out shields on a group of enemies, her Shockwave ability can throw em around like a bunch of ragdolls. Also, don't underestimate Pull. If you manage to pull targets toward Jack, her shotgun kills em fast while they are just helpless. (Also the case with Jacob).

The key to surviving Insanity is to use everything you have at your disposal, if you just try to run and gun it, it won't work.

I like Jack, but not as much as a squad mate. She is invariably the first one to drop. Other squad mates with similar skills are both tougher, have better DPS, and have equal or better utility.

For allegedly being the most powerful human biotic, she is a letdown plain and simple. Jack would need to be boosted quite a bit in ME3 in order for her to become more viable, let alone live up to the powerful biotic myth.

I was really surprised to see how many people think Jack is one of the worst squadmates. She's probably my favorite. Maybe I just find husks more annoying than other people, but I think she's great on any difficulty level.
