Glad to see some more folks piping in. You should all enter!

The main point of the challenge is to always accept the consequences of your actions, whether good or bad. Of course its all arbitrary, and just for fun. Any additional rules you want to add for whatever reasons you have are welcome. (I find that the no-resurrection rule simply forces me to use more characters and makes the stories more interesting. In BG, characters could get "chunked" or obliterated in a number of terrifying ways, especially against stronger opponents like beholders. That added excitement. What is a tale without a little tragedy and suffering? And, what is a challenge without challenge?)

Anyway, come join us!

The Bann went into the castle with the Arlessa, but not before I got the truth out of him. We entered the castle through a secret entrance. And guess who we found in the dungeon? The blood mage, none other than our old friend Jowan! I decided to let him out. Even though he is a brainless neanderthal, there must be some use for him. At the very least, he can go terrorize the countryside.
...

Killing revenants takes a little more effort than lesser forms of the walking corpse. I'll have to remember that should I encounter any more.
...

I finally found my way into the castle treasury. Unfortunately, there was no gold, just some warriors' trinkets. Damnation! Maybe I can salvage this trip somehow.
...

Jowan did have a use after all. I instructed him to use the Arlessa's life to open a door to the fade, so I could "save" the boy. In reality, I just negotiated a temporary reprieve for him in exchange for knowledge of blood magic. Alastair was heartbroken that I killed the Arlessa. I'd love to see his reaction if he knew the whole story. Fool templar.
...

On the way to Orzammar, I encountered a merchant who told me a legend of a stone golem frozen in the center of a town to the south. He sold me some kind of control rod. Interesting. I think I'd like a personal golem.
...

The control rod doesn't work. I'll kill that merchant. But wait -- it looks like there is a door to some kind of underground laboratory here.
...

The son of the mage that last owned the golem was down there. The fool refused to give me the proper activation word unless I rescued his daughter from a demon. I almost killed him for his insolence, but in the end, my desire for the code word won out. His daughter was playing with a desire demon trapped in a mage's prison. I tried to negotiate with it for another prize -- more blood magic, or some kind of dark boon -- but it offered nothing. It should have known better than to trifle with me. And now I'll have a golem to command!
...

The golem has a mind of its own -- and it is dark. It stomped cruelly on a chicken on the way out of town. I think we'll get along.

Side quest touch up mostly today, finished the Urn with a run at the High Dragon, wow... so close. All the others died (Wynne and Alistair twice) and I nearly did too. Then I got lost in Redcliva's Psychic Impulses thread. :D

====

Tch, 'We do not question tradition here'. How lovely, I found a surfacer Orzammar. I even get the sneers for 'obviously' being inferior to every one in there. Though that boy's rhyming is... oddly disturbing. Moving on to the store, good place to ask questions. Hey, Leske, what's wrong? He only acts like that if... If he smells dead bodies and spilt blood. I don't care what you say shopie, you're hiding a skeleton in your closet. One of the knights that stupid bint sent out. That's another life on her hands. Okay people, this town either participated or allowed the murder of outsiders. We're hitting this 'revered father' up at their Chantry. And I mean literally hitting. That guard said they do nothing without his approval so he must've had a direct hand in the knight's death.

Genitivi right? Good to se you haven't been stuffed in a box like Waylon, opps did I say that out loud? Sorry. Moving on, up the mountain to the temple killing fanatics as we go. Oh lookie, it's the big fanatic on the mountain. Yieks, I can almost hear his departure from reality. Okay, crazy time over, stabbing time starts.Well that was fun, oh don't look at me like that Wynne, your shield deflected most of the drake's fire and the hair'll grow back. C'mon guys, Nutso the Barbarian said the urn was just this way.

Oh, they were serious. I was just expecting a dragon like we found in Bhalen's throne room. Still haven't figured out why that was there, what sodding use does it serve? Anyways... ah.. yes, quiet steps humans, no sudden moves.

Another really bloody old guy, he a blood mage too? No? Look pal, you're annoying me, the past is past. It sucks, yes, lots I probably should've done different, but I didn't. Ancestors, I'm not even a bloody sodding Andrastian. Sodding religion. Ah... hey Red, you know all bout your religion right? Answer these nice dead people's questions would you? Oh lovely, the old man wants three women to strip down? He's a perv. Ally-boy if you look at Red or Wynne I'm going to make this a four female group.

Let's see if we can get by that bloody huge dragon agai... SODDING ANCESTORS DUCK!!! It spotted us! Run, run, run, run, it's blocked the way out we'resogunnadiestabstabstabstab. Ally got shoved through the temple wall, Wynne's lost a lot more then some hair and... there goes Red over the boulder that landed on Leske. Sogunnadienotgoingoutwithoutafight! Rraaaahhhhhhhhh-hey... I'm alive... wow... Ah... Wynne? Weren't you a flaming ember just a second ago? Right, you're a Vessel of the Spirit, incredible, incalcuable magic powers, gotchya. Ah... can you do anything about the others? Really? Sweet. Let's go. I'm more then ready to not come back.

---

You.... want to do what to Alistair? Make him king? But... bed bunny... On the other hand, mother findout out both her daughters are with kings... bah she'd just **** and moan about something else. 'Sides, dwarven nobles wouldn't accept a casteless wife, just a concubine, no way human nobles would accept a dwarven queen. Not that I want to be one anyways. Sod. Why's this so mixed up with politics? It's a sodding blight and still the bloody nobles have to play their power games. Sod 'em all. Hope the Dalish are easier.

Not bloody likely though.

Well, I'll give it a shot. I'm not even going to try to make up a story about it, though... currently level 7ish, just finishing up in Lothering. I've had a couple close calls, just because I'm not used to trying to prevent injuries to the PC. Power outage made me redo the Ogre, but otherwise it's been smooth sailing.

Human noble 2h warrior.

I'm in too.

Darrien- DW Warrior - City Elf.

Born in the alienage of Denerim, the boy learned to scrap from an early age. Didn't help that his mother taught him how to fight with a blade. His father, Cyrion -tried- to talk sense into him but that fell on deaf ears once his wife was killed. It only got worse once a band of dwarves passed through town. Somehow he managed to impress them enough that they branded their tattoos on his face (custom facemorph). The community was mortified but it was too late. It took a lot of string pulling but finally a suitable marriage arrangement was made....

***

Nightmare difficulty. I'll also abide by the no-pc death rule, however I will be making use of the combat tweaks mod. You can find it on dragonagenexus.com. It basically fixes alot of the bugs in combat, while changing the mechanics of many powers and abilities. These are applied to the enemies as well though, so balance is preserved. I may also use the respec mod (would be fun to turn alistair into a 2h warrior :D).

And second to last part of Emlin's tale, one way or another. Currently In the Final Onslaught palace sector. Two zones and the Archdemon left. Would've kept going but system was slowing down, death recognition was several seconds after final damage.

=====

Surprise, surprise. The Dalish have problems in meeting their dully signed treaties requirements. I'm shocked, truly. Eh, what's one more bit of problem solving on my part? Werewolves? Well at least it's not demons or undead or darkspawn. Wait, Wynne just said weres are caused by... Fade demons possessing wolves. sodding Stone. Nine out of ten problems I've found have been from the Fade either directly or second-hand. Darkspawn are about the only thing that isn't from the Fade, and according to Red, that's debatable too! Fine, fine, what ever, let's go.

I guess I can see the draw the elves see in this place. Though the beasts, bandits, weres and, yes, darkspawn need to go. The rhyming tree is cool though. He should've warned me about the blasted death trap behind his grove though. Sodding Fade demons. Seriously starting to dislike magical beings. And that includes these sodding revenant thingies that I seem to keep finding everywhere. What, was it a fade a few centuries ago? Shiny boots though, wonder if there are more.

Hey, another magic wielding psycho. Who calls demons as well, isn't that sodding special? All this just to get a nut. Swiftrunner's not a bad duster, need to get a few... barrels... of low-quality ale in him to loosen him up first, though I bet. Serious grudge against the Dalish, I can relate to the feeling, not that it helps me talk to the flea-bag. Ah, underground ruins, first civilized place I've been in almost a month. Follow me humans, I know how these places work. Undead aside, sodding undead.

Something vaguely odd about a dwarf and three humans doing an elven ritual, ah well, that's the last of this shiny armor. This thing is awesome. Have to do a bit of work on it at camp to get it looking new again, but it should be plenty good before long. Okay, good news first. I found a back way into the weres' lair. The bad news is, it's a water-filled tunnel. Wynne and Red, it's not so much bad as uncomfortable, for Ally and me, standing here in massive plates of metal, it's very much so. Ugh, hope the water at least doesn't go over my head.

Zathrian made these weres, hmm? So once more, the source of the problem is intolerance and magic. Lovely. Well, they want to be cured and I'm all for ending cursed existences so I'm off to see the Keeper, the wonderful Keeper of... Oh hey Zath, I was just thinking about you. Got some old friends of yours who want a chat. Hmmm... I'm seeing a disturbing trend here. Each of these major problems was solved only after someone died. Or nearly so with that bint Isolde. Ancestors might be trying to tell me something.

---

Human Landsmeet. Like their version of the Assembly. Probably as swift and as effective too. Loghain showed himself pretty quickly, seems a bit more... twitchy... then last time I saw him. Really want to knife that Howe guy. Reminds me way to much of Bheret then is good for my tastes. The nug humper's kidnapped this Anora girl, she's important right? Know I've heard that name before... Oh! She's the queen, right that makes sense. I can never seem to go long without doing something for a noble or otherwise running things-type. Sigh. Let's go get the fool woman.

Sneaking in really isn't my forte, and it shows. Boring conversation anyways... Hey Ally! We're gunna have company real soon! Something must be wrong with me, I'm willingly going into a dungeon. Oh yeah, it's due to more sodding magic. Such a fine and upstanding sort Howe is. Imprisoning and torturing important people. Or at least ones connected to them. Stupid duster. At least he's not gunna talk anymore, not after Leske ripped his throat out, good dog.

Oh... ah... that's a lot of heavily armed troops. In an estate still mostly filled with guards who would probably take exception to what I did to their pay. Right, Ally raise your hands. We're surrendering. Once more in a cell, never seem to escape my past. Well, let's see if human guards are as gullible as carta ones. And the answer's yes, though they wear heavier armor, oww... that smarts. Let's bail boy-toy, of course I have a plan, we're walking out the front door. What, don't think I can do it? Watch me.

Ha! Told you!

This... this is not funny. Things are shaping up to have me be in Rica's position as concubine to the king. And, I'm pushing it. Sodding stupid duster. Best for everyone, huh? Not for me, nor for Alistair. Stone, it's not even fair on Anora. Sodding politics. Wish I could just be rid of this stupid noble's game. Alistair's the only one of the three of us who seems to buy the whole 'it'll all work out' thing. That or he just really wants too, can't be sure.

Let's get this Landsmeet over with, sooner it's done the sooner I can leave human politics to the sodding humans. Ouch, poor Loghain, only one vote of confidence. Might've been that almost irrational rant about Orlais. Annnndd... he's about to instigate a slaughter in the place. Oh Stone no! I wen't through way too sodding much to get these ones here! I am not going to wait for them to bicker about replacements! Me and you Loghain! Here and now, just us.

Odd. I would've thought pain this much would've meant more blood. I can't really blame Ally... Alistair for that decision. It's really... *sniff* it's really the o-only r-right option. I p-practically t-told him t-to do this. I'm s-sure the pain w-will end.

S-Someday.

---

I'll say this for darkspawn, they make a great way to get ones mind off other problems. Still, this attack at Redcliff seems... foolish, not anywhere near enough to actually take the place. Screw up the village? Yes. Take the castle, not a prayer. Ah... a diversion while the horde overruns Denerim. Uh... Riordan's got a Duncon-esqe look. Last time I saw that look I drank a cup of blood after practically getting exiled. I'm not gunna like this, I just know it.

...

...

Sodding Ancestors. I have being right. Morrigan's been hitting the lyrium droughts too much, I... I don't have t-that kind of pull with Alistair. N-Not... not anymore.

Okay, three Wardens, one Archdemon. Numbers are in our favor right? Yeah, I can't even convince myself that. We should split up, it'll give us a better chance to get a lead on that flying lizard. Market looks a bit... different now, and I don't mean the sodding ogres that had better not even think about snatching me up for a snack. Move people, we need to try and meet the others at Fort Drakon. Ancestors! These waves just don't stop! No way Shainni and her elves would've held.

Lovely, it looks like the Archdemon's trailing me... wait... that... That's Riordan! He's got it! He's got it! He's... oh... sod. One down.

And it's done. Defeatless play through and I'm Kind of a Big Deal achievement. Only way it could've been better was for Emlin to get the fatality, sadly, Sten got the death blow animation. ;_; Sat back as the credits went and realized Emlin's ending fit perfectly. Already have the next entry ready, human mage on Hard difficulty, almost same mods as Emlin's run. (Respec, several model additions, advanced tactics, faster bow talents (for everything) and arcane lock open spell)

====

Sod, the darkspawn are set in organized assault lines. How dare they break with their usual tactics and do something effective. Lots of arrows, this is me wishing I had a shield like Sten now. Fine! Counter arrows! Calling the Dalish forces here. Ha! Not so sodding smug are you now you nug humppers!

Saw the Archdemon crash on top of Fort Drakon, haven't seen it lift off, not that I expect it would with a rent that big in it's wing. Riordan may not have killed it, but it's pretty much immobile for now. Perfect time to get it. Ancestors, I'm going into a jail of my own violation again!

Stone! Sandal? Wait... Sandal surrounded by dozens of dead darkspawn including two ogres, covered in blood and not a weapon in sight. I knew it! Lyrium-addled are monstrous killing machines! Ahh... right, making nice with the ultimate predator. Should've Joined him.

Wow... Archdemon's uglier up close. And bigger too. I'm not scared, really.... Sod I'm bloody terrified. For more then one reason. Alistair must still be on his way. It's up to us right now. Oh hey! Ballistas! That'll help. Geh! That must be what's delaying Alistair, drakspawn waves. Archdemon must be calling all the darkspawn in the city here. Blast, it's out of the ballistia's arc of fire, up close it is then.

Move there people! Don't waste time on the rest! Leave them for Eamon, Irving and Kardol. Red's getting swarmed, can't get to her... ah good, Wynne's moving to help her. Just me and Sten against the Archdemon, and a few dozen darkspawn. I'm suddenly wishing I was a mage after all.

Wait! There! An opening! Ahhh! It's blood burns so much more then the other darkspawn. Push through the pain Duster! Everyone's counting on you. There we go, cut it's neck muscles and bring the head down. Say bye-bye.

It's like I'm on fire, but it's inside that's burning. I'm scared. I can just make out Ally coming out of the tower. Sorry love, you get to live.

Alistair... Rica....

For you.... for... family....

-----

I know something's wrong, the tower had a lot of dead darkspawn that showed her work. She's here. She's facing the Archdemon. Even now I can't help think she may have intended this. Always one step ahead of me, my love? There! The roof! Something bright going on. There's a cold ice in my stomach. I know what I'm going to see even before I finish.

I'm right, there she is, sword driven into the Archdemon's head. She looks to be in such pain, her blue eyes open, one last time, we lock gazes. No... please Maker...

But he didn't listen. I'm holding her. She seems so... small now, none of that vitality that filled the room. But... she did it. My Emlin did it. She ended the Blight.

-----

Word reached us before our forces came back. Bhalen told me himself. Oh my dear little sister. How cruel of the Ancestors. Endrin will hear great tales about his aunt, but he'll never have any memories of meeting her. So unfair. At least... at least it shocked Mother out of her decade long drunkenness. She's been a great help. Bhalen said the Assembly's thinking of making Emlin a Paragon. A casteless Paragon! The first ever! Oh my brave little sister. I knew... I always knew you would do something great.

^^ Nice work.
Level 11 now, finished all the Denerim sidequests before the archers could pick up scattershot, and did all the DLCs (I have all official DLCs before the darkspawn one). I decided against drinking the vial on Soldier's Peak.  It just doesn't make sense to drink some random liquid that's been sitting out who knows how long.  Now I have to pick a treaty area to go to... choices, choices.
I guess I should mention I'm playing on Nightmare, and I used the respec mod to change Morrigan's spells (fire instead of frost, and creation instead of entropy). Party is Dog, Leliana, and Morrigan, and I intend to keep with that as much as I can. I'll probably kill Wynne.

Just finished up the origin:

**********************************

I dream of wenches and booze.... I get both. Shianni is standing over me and by the smell on her breath, the party started early. I gotta get married today. Damn. Looks like Pa is insisting. Everyone is wishing me well. I meet the neighbors girl on the way out... have to talk her idiot father out of taking her into a camp filled with human soldiers. Fool.

Soris is waiting for me. We both contemplate running when the Arl's son shows up and starts feeling up our women. I'd knife him but it looks like Shianni introduced his face to a chamber pot. Good girl.

It must be 'visit-and-stare-at-elves' day for the humans. We meet another one, although this one is armed to the teeth. I try to get him to leave but the old nug is stubborn.... and he knows Varathorn. Great. I spend the rest of the conversation taking the foot 'out' of my mouth while they explain what a Grey Warden is doing here.

Wedding commences. I hate my life. I don't -want- a wife.... though she 'is' a looker. Sister comes and starts yapping about the maker when.... oh sod it, not this jackass again! Vaughan brings friends! They take Shianni!

*Groan* Just got sucker punched. That's it, now his friends are on my **** list too! Actually, put all humans on that list. Me and Sorris got someone on the inside that can get us into the Arl's keep. Duncan actually makes himself useful and hands me a blade! Ok...one less human on the list.

These guards are slower than molasses! They can't even touch me. It takes three of them just to give me any challenge at all. Sorris makes himself useful by being a colorful target. He does his part.

We find one of the girls, she's wasn't so lucky.... neither where her guards. We find Vaughan..Shiani's on the floor. She's been raped. He offers me money, 40 Sovereigns!. With that kind of coin I can feed the Alienage for a month....but he touched Shianni! The first thing I do is remove his pride... it's smaller than I thought. He's got quite a high pitch as he screams... too bad all his guards are dead.

****! Now the entire city guard is after me. Damnit. I come forward to keep the alienage from getting ripped apart. Huh?!....rite of conscription! That's twice that Duncan has helped me out... well.. more like helped himself out since he needed a recruit. I say my goodbye's. Shianni gets all mushy on me, but she'll pull through. She's tough... and she drinks!

Off to Ostagar.

This place is a dump! It's like the alienage only with soldiers. I get to meet the king. What do you know, he's exactly as I thought he'd be. Dumb and oblivious like a pile of horse ****. I try to educate him but Dunchan chews me out for rudeness. Still... I got to tell off the king of Ferelden, before we're all overrun by Darkspawn. My life just gets better and better.

Thanks Visionary.

******

So Duncan has sent me off on some wild goosechase to slaughter darkspawn and take their blood in the Korcari wilds. Oh sure, I'll look for some ancient treaties in the middle of a darkspawn infested forest. I can't possibly think of somethig else I'd like to be doing.

I look around the place before I head out. Half the humans here are idiots.. and that's the useful lot! Still, Alistair and Wynne seem ... tolerable. Wynne seems like the grandmotherly type.... if the grandmotherly type was a cryptic and batty old crone! Alistair is just plain weird. Yaps way too much, but at least he seems useful carrying that sword and board.

We meet up with Daveth and Jory, the other two recruits, and head out. You know you're not popular when even the wildlife tries to eat you. Never mind the damn Darkspawn, I'm more worried about these bloody wolves. Daveth seems like the quiet type so I send him up to scout. Somebody should have told him that scouts are supposed to stay hidden while they're doing it.. not walk onto the bloody traps and alert the whole damn camp!

At least Alistair is able to keep the blighters busy long enough for me to stick my blade through their spines! Jory seems to know what end of that sword to use as well. I can't believe I'm actually glad to have humans fighting beside me! Maybe we should let the darkspawn overrun Denerim, that'll bring our peoples together mighty fast. Alistair seems to consider the idea.... but then again Alistair isn't all there in the head. I don't think any of us are.

Found a nice empty chest where those treaties are supposed to be. Also found a half naked witch that seems keen on introducing me to her mother.... ok, what I said about Wynne being batty..forget it. Wynne has nothing on this damn hag. Babbling on about grand schemes, and beliefs... I take the treaties and get out of there. Inbreeding must run really deep in that family. Still.... the younger one, Morrigan, doesn't look half bad for being inbred.

We make it back to camp. The Kennel keeper seems pretty keen on this flower to help cure a sick dog. I sell it to him for a pretty penny after he gives me lip about doing the right thing for a 'noble hound'. No one would do a damn thing at all of there was an elf in there and not a warhound!

So we get on with the joining. A pint of darkspawn blood?, oh yes please I can't think of a more refreshing beverage. Daveth can't seem to hold his liquor to well, and Jory tries to back out. Damnit Duncan... *sigh*... I've been meeting a lot of crazy old people today. Now comes my turn... bottoms up!

Ok, Shiaris has officially lost all rights to moan about hangovers! I take a few moments to heave my breakfast into the nearby bush. Great, now that that's done.. off to the war council.

Ok, if the King is an ignorant dumb child, then Loghain is the nursemaid that keeps it form sticking it's fingers into the cookign pot! Seems like a practical man at least. Paranoid bastard by the looks of it.. the way he rants about the Orlesians. What do I care? humans are humans.

So... while everyone goes to fight the darkspawn on the field of battle, Alistair and I have been tasked with the world shattering task of lighting a glorified campfire. Then again, I shouldn't be complaining considering what happened in the wilds. Least there won't be as many darkspa......

AHHH F***** IT ALL TO HELL!

Tower's overrun with the bastards. Least this mage we meet is handy.... flaming weapons are always fun. The other guard he's with seems like a nice moving target for distractions. I stick with Alistair though... can't believe I'm fighting back to back with the blighter. Least he can hold his own though. Alot better than Sorris that's for sure....

***

More to come later.

The combat tweaks mod makes alot of these fights more fun, but sometimes easier. Two handed weapons hit like a truck, so vanguards are particularly dangerous. I went ahead and used a mod to up the difficulty on enemies. They now have higher attributes, hit harder, and have more health. I think it's a pretty fair balance.

Ah, what the hell! I'm giving this thing a try.

Entering with Mihr, the City Elf Warrior. I've got some official DLC (namely Shale and the Blood Dragon Armor) as well as a few mods: ZevranASAP, Party Select (which I only use in case of glitches) and a few more, but those are all aesthetic changes, like withening the teeth and such. No influence on gameplay, so that should be fine.

--------

The first thing I saw when I woke up that morning was Shianni. Ah, hell, what did she want? Wait, did I oversleep? Crap. Well, Shianni said it was no big deal, though. Was a bit confused when she talked about a special day and all. Special day? What special da- ooooooh. Right. Today's the day I get to be the pretty little bride. Great. Wait, huh? The guy's early? Oh, come on! Yeah, great, Shianni, easy for you to say I should just 'hold my breath and jump in'. Why don't you get married instead, if you like it so much?

Ah, suppose I better get ready. Put on my fancy dress and talked to my dad for a bit. I was about to ask if I could still run... but I guess I shouldn't ruin everybody's day, considering I wasn't getting out of this one. He gave me some boots that belonged to my mother. I put them on, naturally. Don't exactly fit with the fancy wedding clothes, but if anyone comments I'll just give 'em a good whack. Cold morning, too. Right, just smile and play nice. I almost wanted to splash in the water, maybe ruin my dress. That'd cancel the wedding, right?

Talked to my mom's old friends. Dilwyn and Gethon are their names. Gave me some money to start off with and told me about my mom. If I ever meet the humans who killed her, I'll make them pay. Ran into some familiar faces. Nessa, or something. Her and her family are moving to Ostagar. Can't say I blame 'em for wanting to leave this dump, but going to a war camp, a human war camp, seems like a bad plan. I offer my help, but they don't want it. Ah well, their decision. And... oh, bloody hell, I'm too nice for my own good. Gave Nessa about ten silver, to get her a good home. Yeah, yeah, girl, don't mention it. Spoke to some other people (did that woman just call me a wench?) and then finally got to Soris. Guess I can't delay any longer.

Oh, hell, who's this jerk? Stupid human, comes out and starts acting like a douche. Better tell him to leave and- oh no, Shianni, why'd you do that? I mean, it was totally badass and all, but it's gonna bring trouble. Couldn't help making an equally dangerous comment to the two humans that were still standing, though, so I'm not one to talk. Oh, so this guy's my betrothed, then? Huh... doesn't look half-bad. He's nice, too. Just keep smiling, Mihr, maybe this'll be okay. Surprised he didn't comment on my face tattoo.

What's this, another human? Doesn’t seem that unfriendly, but I better warn him to back off a bit. Soris is right, we don't want another scene. Maker, this guy's armed and everything. Wearing a rather stupid looking robe, though. Seems friendly enough... wait, Valendrian, you know this guy? Oh, he's a Gray Warden. Huh. Imagined one of those would wear more armor.

Well, time for the wedding, I suppose. Hey, Nelaros is an okay guy. Maybe this won't be so bad. Oh, sodding hell, that guy again? Wait, huh? He wants to have co- oh, you have got to be kidding me. Hell. No. I tell him as much when he talks to me. Just says I've got 'spirit'. Just try it, you-

Right, not
much fighting so far, of course, but figured I might as well try to do a 'little'

Ok, well Darrien got flattened by an ogre at the top of the tower today. The party itself didn't get wiped out though, so the thing got taken down. No reload actually took place..... what do you think, should I continue or restart?

That's a continue, imo, since Flemeth plucks you out of the tower and uses her magic healing skills.

We cut our way up the tower. How in all hells did all these darkspawn get in here??!?... it's almost like someone just left the damn door open and invited them all in!

Oh look, a room full of darkspawn and conspiciously placed oil on the floor. No, no we're not going to do it that way. Their mage doesn't seem quite so eager to cast spells when we pump him full of arrows.

Damn. More of them are coming. I can handle two or three but there are dozens! This is gonna be hell......

..sometimes, just sometimes stuff happens that make me wonder if there is a maker. Nothing like a conveniently placed pen, filled with hungry Mabari to make our lives easier. I let them out and they mangle the bastards, but good. They also know friend from foe apparently. Smart dogs.

Ok, the path is clear, now to just get up top and light the...... WHAT IN ALL MANNER OF SH*T IS THAT??!

Me and Alistair charge it. I try to get a flank on it but it's too big, He smashes Alistair over the head, and sends him flying across the room. Can't tell if hes' dead or not, and I don't have time to think.

I hamstring its legs. Damnit you bastard, go down already! .... now he's pissed....

... I can feel my ribs cracking as he grabs me. The first punch to the head sends my teeth down my throat.... I can't see....can't breath... ..ca....

an arrow punches through its throat and I go crashing to the ground. Looks like the guard finally made himself useful. I can't move... so all I can do is signal for them to light the beacon... I hear Alistair groan from across the room. Say what you want about humans... they're pretty durable..

I hear more roars coming from below. More of them! This is it..... I can barely squeeze my hand over my blade, my legs are numb... I raise my blades. I think I'm crying.... haven't cried since Mother died.... this is it!

I scream and lunge at them. Not sure how many arrows hit me. Not sure bout anything anymore.Still... that stone on the ground feels nice and cool on my face....

(more to come)

******

Ok so I'll continue. It makes sense that he'd survive here. I'll also be using hte revival rule of Wynne is in the party. I plan on finishing the campaign with this character, but if I end up getting killed legit, then his adventures end as far as posting on this forum is concerned ;).

Tower is sort of a tricky point. Technically within the rules of the challenge, it's a no as the game mechanics don't force the brown skull on you (like the camp/trap in the Brecellian Forest) during in-game mechanics. But it is established that Flemeth saves you and you were seriously injured so... I'd be willing to give it a pass. Others have ended there before. It's one of the typical run killers.

In other news, taking shot 3. I love mages, but it would seem I can't play them. :P So back to first love, the Rogue. Same conditions as last (mods and Hard difficulty) but more health/armor/def. :P

Ashie Tabris, City Elf maiden, dusky skined with very long deep burgandy to wine purple hair with amythist eyes. (additonal hair/eye styles/color mod) She's her mother's daughter, firey, wild and something of a wise-ass. Almost totally dismissive of humans, she sees it as only fair, 9/10 humans are totally dismissive of elves. Not a particularly devoute Andrastian (useful for curse words, s'bout it) since the Andrastian Chantry took her people's second homeland practically as soon as they gave it to them. (Should make things interesting as this attitude will go counter to my typical Alistair/Wynne/Leliana prefered team) If it works, this run should get me the last of the achievments, though still debating on killing Loghain or having Morrigan sleep with him, it would tickle her human hating side to no end to pair them, even if for a night.

Maker what a racket out there. Almost managed to ignore it before the dulcite tones of my favorite cousin rise me from slumber, on one of my only days to sleep in to. Shainni brings such wonderful news too, my mystery groom is here. Early. Damnit, thought I had a few more days to try and find a way out. Time to face the music I guess. ((Shianni: "That's the spirit. Well, sort of." remains one of my favorite lines in the game esp with how she says it.))

Tried to reason with dad, went as well as last times, with the additional admonishment to keep my... other skills out of sight. Great, so Nelaros is expecting a shy, blushing, verginal wall-flower bride? Wonder if I can get him to run off screaming before the weadding. Met some of mom's old friends, odd how dad never mentioned them, not. I know he loves me, but at times I'm convinced he hates what gave mom her vitality he praises her for.

Gave Nessa some silver to get her family to the Highever Ailenage, really, how stupid could they be? Taking Nessa to a human army camp? She'd be on her back before the first day would be out and lucky to leave the place alive, let alone without a child. Pride's all well and good, but show some blasted sense!

Ah Soris, always for voice of desention and caution. Party pooper. Nelaros is a dream come true? Then you marry him! Oh sorry, you have the mouse was it? I'll get you a cage for a wedding present. Dalish are looking to be a good option, and do remember Soris, it's humans calling them savages. They have a socility without humans and driven from human lands regularly, of course the humans will say they're barely civilized. Can't have the Alienages emptying out as we run off. Who would do all the real work around the place? Fool.

Ah... speaking of real work. It's a drunken human. Hmm... almost a redundantcy there. Maker's breath, Shainni can ****** them off but she doesn't know how to back it up. Fine Soris, stay here, I'm helping. Right, that's it blunt-ear, one step closer and I can make you sing saprano. Oh, good hit Shainni. Well that was fun, and distracting, but here's the mythical groom. Cute enough I guess. Damn, looks like Soris spoiled my plan to run him out with the 'real me'. What's worse, I think he's looking forward to this now. Huh.

Oh great, another blighted human. Not a guard, though armed enough to take them on. In the Alienage, an armed human is never a good thing. Time to leave old man. Politly, mule-headed. Have to remeber that technique in the future. Damn Valendrian and his stupid tests, he was watching the whole thing. This... Duncan... is his guest, still don't think his presence can be anything but trouble.

And here's the sanctomonious Chantery woman, oh-so-concendingly allowing herself to wed us 'poor' elves. Only poor 'cause we have to pay them to be allowed to marry in the first place. Yet another leash of the humans.

Ahh.. Vaughn's really pissing me off. Showing up with a small company of soldiers. We should be honored, he needs... looks like twenty armed men to take five, unarmed women. Coward. Couldn't even knock me out himself, needed one of his boot kissers to do it for him. Probably need one to rape us for him as well. Right, killing our way out it seems.

Maker! Nola... you.... you... I'm going to kill every human in this place. This is a fact, you're all dead, your bodies just don't realize it yet. Now this is a surprise, Soris showed up, With a weapon too. Finally found his backbone... you kidding, Nelaros is the motivating force? Wow.... huh... there's a growing possibility I misjudged him. Maybe marrying him wouldn't be so bad after all...

Hehehehe, yes you stupid humans, that drink has quite the kick. Of the rat poison variety. So very satisfying. Nelaros! You. I'm going to take my time with you. And it won't be gentle or clean. Something very catharthic about slaughtering my way through this human palace. All the way up to Vaughn and his two lick-spittles... and Shianni. Bastard really thought he could buy his way out of this. He really doesn't see anything wrong with what he did, he's dead. So very dead. His 'friends' too. First the smaller head, then the only barely bigger one. ((Got all three with death blows, Vaughn with a decapitation too. :D ))

I expected this to happen, knew the fallout was going to claim more lives. I grip the ring Nelaros was going to give me and, with a quick glance at Soris, make up my mind. Only one more death this night. Or.... not... Right of Consription, huh? I ddn't know he could do that. Old man might just be okay after all.

Yeah I'll keep pushing forward on it. The flemeth thing makes sense, and the ogre did get taken down... so it wasn't a wipe. I'll be sure to get Wynne into the party ASAP though, that's for sure :P.

Nice write up by the way, I enjoy reading em.

Thank you. ^.^! Enjoying this more then the regular runs.

The sole problem with getting Wynne ASAP is dealing with the Fade. That's never too easy on low levels, of course it's also much harder on higher ones... Meh, stupid Fade.

====

Got mostly used to the wilds on the walk to Ostagar. Still some things that really seem... weird. Ostagar itself seems better then the Alienage. Naturally. Got a chance to meet the King of Feredlen. He's probably older then me, but he sure doesn't act it. Sassed him a bit when he greated me and asked where I was from. My reply of 'Alienage' didn't go over well with Duncan, blondie made the mistake of asking what it was like. I let him know about Vaughan, what I did to him and why. Finally got him to loose that vacant smile. Like he really wants to be friends with me.

Found the other recruits, Daveth seems all right, might even get along. 'Ser Jory from Redcliff,' however, is a fool. Going on about tales and legends, doubt he actually gets that this is a war camp. Then there's Alistair, Duncan didn't say a thing about him being a templar. Damn realigious fanatics, this just took a downswing.

It's offical, Jory's a moron. We haven't even seen any darkspawn and he's already soiling his chainmail. Would've left the solider to die myself, but the templar decided to save him. Darkspawn seem to fall a bit short of their fearsome legends. That or they get worse only in numbers, 'cause the stragelers we've been turning into pin-cushions and cutlets are dumber then human guardsmen. Sure, the one that gets shafted with a few arrows comes charging, but the one not two feet away just stands there like a lump. Takes care of that part of our assignment.

Got a bit of a find from the dead chanters. Almost two sovergins in that box, spared a second to feel bad for this Jetta for never knowing for sure that her men are dead, ah well, money's good. Morrigan seemed to enjoy rialing up the children, did look like fun, but she was delaying me getting out of this stinking swamp so time to speed things along.

Jory's still moaning about fairness, barely managed to refrain from telling Daveth that I would be willing to sacrifice him too, might not have gone over well, heh. Of course Templar has to say some realigious sounding benediction, human cerimonies, chee.

The Joining was... painful. More so for the two new dead bodies I'm sure but still. Oh look, Duncan's showing his progressive nature by taking a new Warden only minutes made to a war council, what in Andraste's name is that man thinking? Showing me off like some.... pet, maybe? Or maybe he just didn't want to have to suffer hearing this screeching harpy go off alone. Ugh, where's a glass of rat poison when you need it?

As much as the Templar complains, I think we got off pretty lightly, just have to light a fire and stay out of the fight. I can get behind that set of instructions. Though... the horde seems to be hiding a catapault somewhere, flaming boulders do not a nice walk make.

Maker's breath, I should've known it sounded to easy. It's the Wilds all over again, only this time with a mage. This should be interesting. Not sure how to treat this guy. Just ignore him I guess, mage or not, he's human.

Managed to convince the templar that we should clear out every room we come to, lighting the beacon only to find two dozen darkspawn looking over our collective shoulders is not condusive to a long life. That gapping hole in the floor already makes me nervous. Ah, that must be their catapult, big buy flattened the mage like a cookie and kicked the templar around, both amusing, but he still needed to go.

Maker, I knew that hole was going to bite us in the arse! Or the shoulder. Was nearly tempted to leave the templar to handle this Blight on his own since he's so gung-ho about it, but Flemeth gave me a.... look. Don't think she's going to let me skiv off this. Ah well, I guess the horde would kill Shianni, dad, Soris and the rest.

Off to be a hero. Yay. Chee.

DLC:
- Madd gift guide (add tooltip in front of gifts to show who wants it)
- Camp storage chest
- Darkspawn chronicles (add starting weapon)
- Leliana's song (add starting armor)
- Helm of the deep, the edge, embrils many pockets starting items.
- Wardens Keep, Stone Prisoner, Return to Ostagar, for extra xp and loot.

Character planning:
I see a lot of people make rogues. While I can understand that, I feel that it's just too easy to get killed as one. No, my character will be a dwarven warrior, of the noble origin (for the extra money). And he'll run around in a full party, with alistair or shale, morrigan and leliana (or forced characters). Nightmare mode, because that just seems appropriate. Main idea is that Alistair charge in first, while I run after, should make him take that annoying first wave of attacks that can put you down fast without being able to do anything about it. Sneaking about, not my style. But I am thinking I'll be annoyed at traps too, because I often play this as a rogue, and then they are no problem for obvious reasons.

My reasoning for this is that survival of the main character is the focus, and then I want him to - well - be a survivor.

I am planning on ending it when the main character gets an injury, with no reloading at all. But I won't care if my companions gets injured constantly.

------------------------------ Current status -------------------------------------

Having done the start, lothering, wardens keep, stone prisoner, return to ostagar, I have now gone to Denerim, and picked up all the quests I can do.

Desire demons have been the only really hard fights so far - but they were touch and go for a while. I need some resist gear obviously :)

Well, I knew a cunning rogue archer was not the best choice for this but I thought I would last longer than I did. I first pumped dex to 26 and with Dalish armor had good defense for early in the game. The Origin and Korcari Wilds were no problem. I picked up stealth at the joining and thought I could start leading the party – mistake. First combat after joining up with the tower guard and mage, I drew the attention of all the genlock archers, who seemed to have no problem hitting me with every arrow. I tried to gulp a health poultice – too late. Three more arrows hit me and it was all over.

I replayed the fight and survived no problem, so there was some bad luck there but Lyna’s challenge ends. I’m going to keep playing her anyway. Next challenge, I’ll build a character with survivability as the priority and it so happens I’ve never played an arcane warrior…

The first thing I see is a beautiful woman looking down at me. The second thing I see is the crazy inbred witch looking down at me.... it takes a moment before I figure out that they're the same person.

She tells me I'm not dead. Apparently her old bat of a mother plucked me and Alistair out of the tower. It takes a moment to sink in. I almost died. Hell... I think I did die for a moment. Somehow things just aren't as funny as before. I don't want to be here. I want to go home. I want to see everyone again..... of course with this blight everyone will be dead soon enough.

I step outside. Alistair goes on about raising an army, Flemeth tells me that it's all up to us now. Damnit we 'had' an army till that damned traitor Loghain took all his men and ran like a coward with his tail between his legs. We can't stay here, that's for sure... we're about to head out when.... what?!?!....

.... apparently the old crone wants to unload her insane inbred daughter on us. To everything there is a price isn't there? fine... we take her a long. Besides, a mage might come in handy. Alistiar suggests we head to Redcliffe first, but we need to stop for supplies in Lothering.

..... and this place is a complete dump. Still... the bandits are a nice distraction. I give them a valuable lesson in how to properly rob someone. Amateurs. Typical humans. In the middle of a crisis they're all feeding off of each other like parasites. I see this one merchant charging a small fortune for basic goods. I'd let em all rot in hell...but....there are elves here. There are children here. Alistair gives me one of those looks like he's expecting me to turn into Andraste and save the world.

*sigh*

I introduce the merchant to my negotiators. The one in my right hand is pointed at his throat, while the one in my left is down by his balls. Oh.. a discount for all?...how generous. At least there's a pub nearby... I could use a drink.

I meet a kid while crossing the bridge. He's looking for his mom. I don't have the heart to tell him that she's probably wormfood by now. He tells me I'm a nicer than the elves his father talks about.... I also don't have the heart to tell him that his father is an idiot and should be used for fuel.

... and speaking of idiots, the pub is packed with men from Loghain's army. Compared to the ogre though, this is a cakewalk. Everything erupts in chaos, when this crazy chantry sister jumps in and starts stabbing. They surrender and scurry off... and I get a better look at this wench....

By the maker! The damn cult would have alot more followers if all their sisters looked like her! Tells me her name is Leliana and she wants to join me because she dreamed it up. *sigh* Just my luck that she'd be crazy. Still she does look like she'd be useful. Apparently she's an ex minstrel from Orlais or something.

We gather supplies and head out, when we find a prisoner in a cage. Apparently this 'Quari', as he calls himself, slaughtered a whole family. Bloodthirsty maniac. Morrigan suggests we take him with us and throw him at the Darkspawn. Normally I'd say put him out of his misery, but we do need what help we can get.... fine then. Welcome aboard.

Great, a lovely and merry band of unstable lunatics have been tasked with ending the darkspawn threat. If there's a maker, he's probably in a drunken stupor laughing at all this.

Speaking of darkspawn, we meet a friendly band on our way out. And by friendly, I mean trying to slaughter a merchant and his kid, and then trying to slaughter us. We return to the favor.

Damnit... these fights are getting harder! We're going through the healing salves faster then Morrigan can make them. We're gonna need to do better. Leliana suggests that the only place to get stronger magics for that would be the Circle of Magi.... hmmm... maybe we should go there first then.

Love to see all the activity!! Welcome Remaix, and Aebriol! Smiley, sorry about your archer. I've ended up a pincushion more times than I can count. Liliandra, I'll admit, I've died at the fangs of that poison spider in the mage origin more than once. I actually almost die there every time -- I have to choose spells that enable me to survive/avoid a poison spit or an overwhelm in one of the earliest fights in the game. Its funny, I can't play the fighter or rogue classes with any semblance of success, but I do OK with mages. (For a while anyway.) Beretzik, keep up the good work!

I'm about to advance further than I ever have in a no-reload run. Exciting and scary. I'll submit my updates a bit later on though (Real life calls for a bit).

We meet some crazy merchant on the way to Redcliffe selling a damn control rod for a golem no less. Seems like a swindler to me, but he's giving it away for free so what've i got to lose.

What do you know... the town is overrun by Darkspawn. See Alistair, told you there was a catch didn't I. I think I'm getting better at this. Alistair makes himself into a nice flashy distraction with all that tin he wears... and I just clean up. Morrigan surprisingly makes herself useful... apparently she knows how to seal wounds closed with her magic. I also get the impresson that if the Dalish could shoot arrows like Leliana, we wouldn't have had our damn homeland destroyed in the first place.

Why hello there cowering and snivelling villagers. You can all thank me by giving me the damn command word... wha?!... oh for crying out loud. I just saved your lives and now you want me to go chasing after some kid in a dark catacomb?!?!?!

Just when I think the world can't get any more insane, I end up meeting a talking cat trying to possess a girl. Yeah sure.. I'll release you.... hmmm... demon's bleed purple apparently. I take the kid back up to her father who gives me the damn word so I can leave this **** ****** town.

The golem wakes up and is completely out of its mind. The control rod is useless too. Great, I've just released a homicidal and uncontrollable walking mountain unto the world. At this rate we won't need the blight. Still.... rocks don't bleed so Shale might come in helpful. We take her (I assume it's a her) with us. No Leliana, it did not just stomp on a chicken, I didn't see anything and neither did you!

Some kid named Levi finds us at camp. Says Duncan owes him a favor and.... well well... the wardens have a hidden keep that no one knows about. Might come in handy. I think we can spare the detour.

Corpses, corpses everywhere. And they'd like us to join them. No thank you, we're rather in a hurry. Doesn't help that we're all seeing the same damn hallucinations. Apparently the one in charge, Sophia, had her pet mage summon a bunch of demons and it's all gone to ****. lovely..... and now she's possessed.

Great, and I need her to close the damn veil so we can't dispose of her just yet. I head to the next tower to find the one she wants killed.

Bloody coward. He's been experimenting on his own men! His own... his own family. Wardens are supposed to be family aren't they?... I shake my head. I stare at the concoction on the table.... it's calling to me.... I can feel power pulsing in it. Maker ..... damnit all to hell.

The vial crashes on teh floor and I watch its contents seep through the cracks. I'm not going to turn into a damn darkspawn just to stop the blight. Hell with that. Avernus is in the next room, and he's more unhinged then bloody flemeth.... hmmm....yeah sure old man, I'll help you kill the demon.

We finish of Sophia quickly. She doesn't hold up long when she's got two mages countering her spells. I let Avernus close the seal.... and then put a sword through his heart. I've learned to tollerate alot of things as of late.... killing family isn't one of them. Give him a little taste of betrayal. Burn in hell you old ****.

Next stop Redcliffe. We rest for a bit on the way. Sure what's up Alistair?..... WHAT IN ALL HELL'S DO YOU MEAN YOU'RE ROYALTY?!?!?!?!? So let me get this straight, I'm traveling with a princeling with a claim to the throne of Ferelden. I stare at him for a moment.... I should hate him and his entire bloodline. Somehow, I just can't seem to care enough anymore. We've got bigger worries.

Once, just for ONCE... I'd like to arrive at some place that isn't completely overrun by darkspawn, monsters, wolves, humans or otherwise. *Sigh* Apparently they're gonna need some help fighting off walking corpses now!
Wow... well that was easier than I thought it'd be. Lost the mayor to some shambling corpse, but everyone pulled through easily enough. Guess it's time to storm the castle. Joy.

... ok... no reload challenge has ended. Wiped on a sidequest with the orange hurlock emisary. the end
