The No Reload Challenge

Sometime, something just happens to make me doubt the whole 'the Maker has left us' bit. Usually those events make me conclude that the Maker has not only not left, but He has a twisted sense of humor. Not two days ago I gave that kennel master the flower he was after and tried to get some compensation. Like a human army was really going to give a mabari to an elf. He 'passed' on paying me, then probably got sliced into chit licks with the rest of the humans on darkspawn blades. Now here's the vary mabari, seeking me out. The twisted humor part? He brought a band of darkspawn with him. Sigh.
----
A fine welcome to Morrigan's little town. Bandits, inept ones at that. I managed to talk them into 'donating' 20 silver to my cause. Stupid humans. One of them had to be inbred, the leader wasn't much better, he mentioned something about Loghain placing a bounty on Wardens, lovely. I... may... have over reacted. A touch. But it was no matter, a few seconds later half his men are dead and he's giving me another 100 silver. Shame about that neck wound, that spot tends to bleed until they're dead. That it wasn't there before he tried to surrender is of no importance.
The bandits were the nicest group I came across. Everyone else was the same old superior attitudes and thinly veiled aggression. I suppose my relieving several of their overburdened pockets might have something to do with it. The elder looked like a grandmotherly type, but one look at my ears and she told me to leave. Hag. Their so-called tavern catered to the wrong sort as well. Loghain's men and Chantry sisters. All of whom decided to start a fight. Killed two of the before the Sargent realized he was out-classed. Almost killed them, but the Chantry woman begged for their lives. I wasn't particularly feeling generous to her already and then she tries to tell me she's joining. Ha! Bad enough I have a templar, I am not dragging an Andrastian nun with me as well.
Seems Lothering has some unexpected assets. He's big, looks strong, and has a hard edge in his eyes I've seen in career soldiers. Not the noble lack wits in the Denerim guards. This man knew battle, and knew killing. Though he might need some work on who he kills, a family vice the soldiers who came after him for it. Then there's the minor detail of his being caged. Revered mother, hmm? This... this will be interesting.
Sanctimonious daughter of a w****! Not only did she obliquely call me a thief (not even enough guts to say what she meant to my face), she had the nerve to be huffy when I didn't feel like giving her money to save her stupid humans. It got even better on hearing about my being a Warden. Once more an old hag told me to get out out of town! Screw her, screw the elder, screw the village and all it's weak-willed, simpering HUMANS! The lock on Sten's cage is old, rusted and breakable to a swift strike with a hilt, didn't even need to work it.
Though.... a further encounter with some more bandits, not incompetent ones this time, have me doubting the apparent ferocity of the qunari baresard. He was knocked out twice. Maybe it was just weakness from his 20 day starvation. I'll give him a day or so to recover.
Ran into the nun again by the other side of the Imperial Highway. At least she asked to come along this time. The vote in favor from the templar probably should've pushed me to kick her visionary arse to the mud, but I do have to admit, skilled help would be useful.
At least Morrigan seems like a pretty good sort.

Let me guess, the refugee one from the Denirim Chantry? Yeah, it seems after the tower, only a few fights really offer any danger outside of a streak of bad luck. The high dragons being the big ones and that sidequest being another.

I think I'm going to reroll a warrior but wait to do that particular sidequest until I'm alot stronger.

Just finished this, successfully, on nightmare mode.
As long as the main character never had an injury, I never cared for the others. Also, I chickened out, and ignored a couple of quests (most notably, unbound - I did kill the high dragon, because I wanted the armor), and made a few distasteful decisions to avoid fights (slavers? sure I'll pay you 100g instead of fighting you... ).
Before I started, I thought that the fade would be the big challenge, so I did that at the end. It turned out to be extremely easy as a warrior at lvl 19/20, but well - I am thinking, it was a good choice to wait with it anyway.
Hardest fights were actually the desire demons early in the game (wardens keep, stone prisoner), before I had a lot of gold / potions / gold, and the first 3 drakes in urn quest, which I only survived by backing into a corner so they couldn't fight me more than one at a time.
Worked out very well with party of 2 warriors (alistair or sten, and me), morrigan and leliana. Not the most effective party I've played, by far, and some fights were looong, but - survivability worked!
I should add: I think what made it work for me first try, was that I had just finished it (like, day or two before), on nightmare with a rogue, so I remembered pretty much all the fights in the game that was challenging. Also, the order I did things in was trying to level up as far as I could, before doing the main storylines. So yeah, trying to be as overpowered as possible for the content
... I might try again on a mage (which I think would be the most challenging?), but if so, I will reinstall skip the fade (that bores me!), no follower autolevel (because I was getting really annoyed at how stupidly Morrigan ended up being speced, and I killed Wynne / Zhevran to avoid that problem), character respec addons

Godrin - Male, DW Warrior, Casteless Dwarf.
I think I have a better strategy this time. I'll start a write up tommorrow, although they might be less frequent. They are a bit time consuming

- First, died in the very beginning in the fade, to the wolves. I guess my mindset was too warriorlike.
- Second, died to a spider in the prologue...
Thought it would be easy at the start, guess not, the warrior playthrough made me seriously overconfident :/.

And for the most potent start I recommend flame blast, too. Spiders burn nicely. Then you can add flaming weapons at level 2 and fireball at level 3, both great, though it takes a bit of practice to not fireball your companions

He's harping on me sister again... wants her to put out faster for some blighter in the diamond quarter. I tell him to back the hell off her.... if I could I'd put an axe through is face. Can't right now.
I meet up with Leske. He's a good friend, but ain't got much sense. Keeps talking about Rica. I rest my hands on me axe. He stops talkin about Rica.
We shake down some old sod for Lyrium. Try to make a pretty penny on the side. I know better. I should kill the bugger. I let him go instead. Beraht will never know anyway. We give him the news, but the cavetick isn't happy. Ends up shaking me and Leske down for half of what we sold that Lyrium for.
The next job is making sure some old drunken fool doesn't end up blowing a big fight for Beraht. Ahh.. Sod.. he's passed out on the floor. I look at his armor, and then I look at Leske. I've always wanted to make idiots of the nobles. I put it on.
...
This is the best they have!??!... the silent sister puts up quite a fight..the rest of them go down like sacks of stone. They cheer for me. IF they knew who I was they'd be hanging me ...no... no no NO.
Leske you idiot! You couldnt' keep that drunken fool from getting up?!...... They make me take the helm off. I do. I spit on the ground and throw it at them. That's right idiots... I just cut your traditions down in three rounds..... I think it takes them less then that to knock my head down against the stone.
Great... stuck in a cell with Leske and Jarvia comes down to give us a last rite of sort. Soddin ****.... Beraht.. he's gonna go after Rica if I don't get the hell out of here. hmmm.... guard don't seem to smart..... aye...right..step just a little closer.
I take the key off his body. Me and Leske gear up and run. Beraht is in the main hall... his men didn't put up much of a fight. He's offering Rica to these two nug-humpers from the other side of the slums. I offer them me Axe instead.
Beraht goes down screaming. I cut him again and again until there ain't notin left of his soddin carcass. I told him not to talk about me sister.
Oh this day gets better and better... we just step out when half the city guard come buy to arrest our arses. Wardens with em too. I like this warden... Duncan's his name. Him and I... eye to eye.He offers me a chance to leave. To use me blades against the Darkspawn and not against old dusters that can't pay their debts.
I take it. I make sure Rica will be safe. Then I take it. Apparently Rica has found herself some noble sod to take care of her. Fine. As long as he treats her right.. if not... he'll wish he was a darkspawn compared to what I'll do to him.
We head out.
The surface is.... bloody stone... the surface is big. So much..space. I heave up that rabbit I had for breakfast. Then I keep moving. Duncan seems amused. Bloody old sod.
Ostagar is a pit of ****e.... but no worse than where I came from. King's a bloody child... his second seems more practical. Also seems a bit of a shifty bugger that one.
Duncan sends me and the others out to the wilds to slaughter darkspawn and find some old treaties. Don't much care for the treaties, but I'll take what chance I get to fight the blighters. This lad.. Alistair is with me. Good kid... I think his stone's are a bit loose but useful in a fight all the same. Can take a hit at least.
Darkspawn hit hard damnit. Fight harder then those idiot nobles in the proving. Still not hard enough. Heh... they don't seem so fiercesome when they got me blade sticking out their spines!
We find some bodies, some treaties and one crazy old witch and her loon mother. The others are wetting their sodding pants... bunch of molly coddled children. I take the bloody treaties and get out of there. That pair reminds me of those inbred morons in the diamond quarter.
Make it back to Camp in one piece. KEnnel master takes this flower of me hands..I should ask him to pay up for it but... ahh hell... can't let that mutt suffer. I like this mutt. Best looking creature I've seen since I left Orzimmar. Heh heh.
Meet this crazy crone called Wynne. Polite one she is. Also a bit Lyrium addled I think. Still... doesn't seem as loose as the other two I met in the wilds. Don't have much time to talk now though.
Gotta get this joining on and over with.

Place sure looks important, I'll give it that. Though the fool at the docks required me to slip a knife into his ribs. Or at least be severely tempted to. Damn armor. Managed to bully him enough into taking us across the lake.
We're greeted by more templars. Panicky ones at that. Seems those hens back in Lothering really were right, the mages turned into demons. So much for that treaty, though my templar mentioned that the templars themselves could make a good force. Naturally, their Knight-Commander won't help until his crisis is solved. Either by me or by word from the grand cleric granting him permission to raze the place and all inhabitants to the ground. And a large body of armed men to help do it.
In what has to have been a fit of insanity, I tell him that we'll do it. Why I suddenly seem to think the five of us that fit in the boat can do what he wants a veritable army to do, I'm not sure. Maker help me but he agreed. Though telling me the doors would be sealed once we passed and remain so until we have the First Enchanter with us is... distressing.
Came across a group of mages almost right away, they're keeping a barrier up that blocks all access. I recognize the old woman from Ostagar, though she seems decidedly more threatening now. Typical. She demands my aid in securing the tower and any and all remaining mages or else she will not drop the barrier. I'm not pleased with getting terms dictated at me but it's Morrigan that makes the first move. I wonder if it's a mistake only after the old woman's body lies cooling on the stone, but the block is gone and there are no places for regrets now.
Abominations, demons, and undead fester in the halls and rooms. Not many mages though, blood or otherwise. Maker! It's a trap! The fallen corpses in the hall are all rising. Should be simple enough just need... wait.. what's that? Morrigan shouts out something about an arcane horror as a crackling flare fills my vision.
And I know no more.
====
Fell to the arcane horror in the great hall. It opened the door and hit us with a chain lightning while most of us were already at half life or less. :/ Maybe Hard is too much for me at the moment. Giving another try, Dalish mage using the mod of the same name, appearance additions, respec and arcane 'lockpicking' mods.

I am a child of the Dales, though I only know a bit of my parents, the Mahariel clan has raised me. While Ashalle taught me how to move and Paviel taught me who I was, it was Keeper Marethari who taught me what I am. The burning energies within that leap at my command, at least now they do. The Keeper chose Merrill as her First, many in the clan wondered if it should not have been I, due to my own Keeper's blood from my father. I found the question pretty pointless myself. Should the creators desire it, I would be. Merrill is a fine First, and a good friend. I am content to learn the pieces and find my own way. Wondering the Forest with Tamlen is hardly the worst that could happen to me.
Encountering some shemlen getting too close to our camp wasn't really new, their panicked story about underground ruins, treasure and demons was. Too much of the events struck me as odd. We've been in this section of the Brecillian many times, there are no ruins in any caves. The Shems don't travel around either, they should know that almost as well as we do. So either we all have missed this cave in the generations we've been in the area, or something has been keeping it hidden, something that's failed. This speaks of magic, Tamlen dismisses my concern, pointing out that my presence should cover anything. While he has a point, I'm not near as well versed in lore as Merrill. Still, better then Tamlen going alone.
Two days later, when I finally wake up, I regret not looking more into the histories as opposed to the other lore. I don't mention to Feneral, Merrill or the Keeper that I really didn't think I was physically up to going back, I've always been pale, no amount of sun has ever fixed that, but not this much so. Just walking down the aravvel was more effort then normal. But Tamlen's life is at stake. A brief restock of our supplies and we're off.
Something is wrong. Though the magic responded to my will just as fast and as strong as normal, it felt... harder then it should. As though I'm trying to run in deep waters. These darkspawn... they're twisted perversions, the spirit of the woods, the noises that make the heartbeat of the wilds, it's gone.
They're more of these things in the cave, and the shem they say brought me back. The Grey Warden Duncan. I don't like his words, either about Tamlen or the sickness I feel strangling me slowly, but I cannot deny their truth. I nearly died and I had both my own magic and that of the Keepers fighting it, Tamlen, alone without either for two days... Farewell my brother, I... I have failed you.
Duncan speaks with the Keeper about my fate as I see to Tamlen's funeral, though we have no body to plant a tree over, the halla's cries echo in my ears as I say goodbye to my family, possibly for the last time, something tells me.
---
The shem's camp is a lot like them I find, loud and always rushing to do... something. Few seem to be happy to just take it in and then decide. Maybe it's just like Merrill said, I've too much of the winters stillness in my nature. I meet the other two recruits, Daveth and Jory, before finding this Alistair Duncan sent me for, they seem like decent enough shems. The Kocari Wilds has a very differnt spirit then the Brecillan Forest. More feral, more vibrant, more raw then the ancient indifference the forest imparts. The other two seem nervous about fighting darkspawn for the first time. I suppose I had an advantage, I wasn't expecting them the first time. The Blight's influence has already begun, driving the wolves into a blood frenzy, even in the numbers, a pack does not attack shems and elves. I tried to warn Jory but the man wasn't listening, his battle-cry had a tinge of panic in it. The hurlock payed it no mind as it cut the knight down. The shem girl's attitude about ownership of the Wilds annoys me, but shems always seem to feel the need to claim dominance over the world around them.
Duncan seemed saddened over Jory's loss, though there was something underneath, as though he was... glad for something. Daveth didn't survive the Joining, Duncan and Alistair looked at me like they expected me to back out for a moment. They seemed to forget that I'm already dieing, even without the chance of the 'cure' killing me. The creators seemed to favor me, I survive to see another dawn, well, maybe, they seem to be planning a major battle tonight. The shem king, Cailan wants me and Alistair to be on hand to light a beacon to signal Loghain. Should be simple enough. Much like the cave was simple I bet.
Being right is surprisingly annoying. Alistair and I manage to pick up a few soldiers who don't seem too panicked and start to make our way through the tower of Ishtal, making very generous use of my talents at freezing darkspawn. Some cautious advancement and some aggressive charges get us to the top of the tower, and to a big surprise. Given the size of the thing, it's hard to keep it frozen, I'll need to work on that in the future. That I end up having one is a surprise, but Flemeth seems to have a use for Alistair and myself. I'm not reassured.
---
Lothering, pretty as a painting, according to Alistair. I question his tastes, but that's not the point. Our brief stop to get supplies and information meets mixed results. Supplies, are more expensive then thought thanks to hording, though the shems are always willing to part with things they need to live for silver and gold. Amazing that they're so dominate in Theadas with that quark. Information, on the other hand, well, we find out something very good to know. We're blamed for Cailan's death and have a bounty on our heads that no less then six groups try and claim. The Chantry shem, Leliana, seems insistant on joining and the qunari Sten just seems to seek atonement, be it at starvation or the hands of darkspawn.
The templar was more right then he guessed, darkspawn were already at the town, we found a small group attacking a pair of Stone children as we were leaving. I hope the shems of Lothering leave very soon. The town only has days left, at most.

Loghain and the King have me running sodding errands to light bloody pyres. One woudl think they wouldn't need wardens to guard a bloody tower but these are humans after all. We bid farewell to Duncan and then head out.
....'
This Tower is a bloody darkspawn pit! Who in the bloody hells left the damned doors open?!. We cut our way through most of em. Found this one blighter that can make light our weapons on fire. We take him along.
Most of the spawn are amateurs! Slow, mindless... I laugh as I cut another one's head off its carcass. The idiots didn't even bother to kill the mabari in the cages. They regret that decision. Blighters get torn apart. Why couldn't I have had a dog like that in Orzammar...
We get to the top and..... oh bloody sod! How did they get this thing up here?!
Alistair is about to charge him but I call him back. You can't kill it like that! I remember what those vets in Orzammar told me. No one charges trolls unless they have a deathwish, or they're wearing an entire forge's worth of armor. Kid seems to possess the former. We split up and shoot arrows at him from all corners of the room. It aint' glamorous but it works. He chases me around all around the bloody room but eventually he goes down.
We light the damn beacon and..... ahhh crap.

Alistair's not taking the news so well. All torn up and teary bout Duncan dying. Can't say I don't feel the same.. but I'll be damned if I start mewling like a sot. Crazy old bat flemeth decides to call in payment by offloading her crazy shrew of a daughter on us. Fine. Seems like a fair trade for our lives.... I'll probably regret that thought.
We head to lothering. First spot where we can resupply and what do ye know, surprise surprise. Blight is upon us and the vultures come out to feed. The Bandits are amateurs though, they wouldn't last a damn night in Orzammar. I make sure to educate them on proper banditry.
Loghains men are in the tavern too. I'm about to take their heads off with my axe until this crazy chantry wench comes in and starts hackin away. Sounds like she's singing while she's stabbing too. I don't usually like humans... but damn... the lass has a great pair of legs on her. Bloody hell, I think I'll take her along with me.

This time I had forgotten about Wynne's encounter with that stupid Hurlock Omega! F******************CK!
*sigh*
and of course the -second- time I tried it, it went without any problems. All I had to do was charge the damn bastard and that would've been the end of it. Great. I don't think I'm gonna start a whole new game though. Takes way too damn long to get back to where I was.
That's what I get for playing on a Nightmare+ I suppose.
I did a no-reload challenge on mass effect 2 perfectly. That took me a bajillion tries to get right. Doubt I have the patience to do it on this one

I'll be using the same perameters as before, except for one change. I'm not abiding by the no pc-brown skull rule. The only thing that counts as a death is an actual party wipe. Otherwise, any unlucky blow will screw you over.
As far as I'm concerned, the brown skull means you're knocked out. If the entire party wipes... then the enemy finishes you off while you're prone. No pc-skull rule is a bit ridiculous in my opinion because this isn't mass effect 2. You have to control everyone else, not just your own pc from death. Combat is focused on the whole party.
Today my pc went down to the bandits outside lothering, but the party still killed em all so it wasn't a wipe. (in fact, the pc is the only one that got an unlucky mace to the head).

Anyway, TJ Cousland will be rescuing the kitchen from his Mabari . . . or is it rescuing his Mabari from the kitchen?
Either way, I'll be doing this on xbox - yea, console guy for this game - so no mods. HNM warrior, duel wield, occassional archery - always nice to soften some people up before they get to you, and hey - you need dex for duel wield, and it helps archery, so I like the combo. Also, not too proud to go hide behind a tree when necessary. Difficulty level will be hard.
Anyway, won't be playing long each night, as work intrudes . . . but will play a bit, and more on weekends, and if this work, nightmare is next.
Cheers.

I've just realized that the trick to succesfully completing a no-reload challenge, especially on the higher difficulties, is basically playing this game a crapload of times!
For the most part, once you hit a certain level there aren't many things that can actually hurt you, barring a few, and highly ANNOYING encounters. For example, my last attempt with a DW warrior wiped in redcliffe when I walked into a room with 6 armored suits. if you go here when you're level 12, they basically chain warcry, and shield bash rendering your party almost immobile.
I reloaded and after a number of attempts found a strategy that works consistently. This involves using a paralysis explosion, and then having the rest of your damage dealers rush in and take down as many suits as you can. if you can get their numbers down to about 3, the fight is MUCH more manageable (having redcliffe soldiers there to help you also makes it easier).
Point is, this fight came way out of the blue compared to the rest of the encounters in the castle. The difficulty in certain parts just spikes out of nowhere, so the key to doing a no reload run is basically remembering where these spikes are and planning accordingly.
I suggest to help others along in the future, we all compile a list of places that people need to be mindful of and plan accordingly.
So:
1. Redcliffe castle (armored guard room).
2. The entrance to Orzammar:
In this part, if you're unprepared you can wipe easy early on. As you make your way to orzammar for the first time, you will be confronted with bounty hunters. The real trick here, is taking down their mage ASAP. This can be a problem in earlier levels as you don't have that much CC yet. Also, if she starts with a fireball, you have to be ready to split your group in various directions so that they don't all get hit.
Anyway, a good way to handle this encounter would be to load morrigan up with a sleep. Cast it as soon as combat starts, then have your damage dealer smash the mage. Shouldn't be that hard to kill her as she's fairly squishy. Once that's done, take out the rest of the part, while being mindful of healing the tank. I did this fairly early, because I wanted to get him the Knight Commander's armor as soon as I could.
So yeah, these are the two encounters so far that I have found HIGHLY irritating. I'm not sure if I'll ever try a no-reload again, but I hope my experience helps others.
The other problem with a no-reload run here, is that unlike Mass Effect 2, DA is much MUCH longer, and has a crapload of sidequests and dialogue that make the game extremely tedious to restart over and over.
Anyway, that's it for now.
Cheers

Wynne and Leliana also have two unreasonably difficult encounters for the unprepared. For Leliana, I would highly suggest not rushing forward to try and get up the hill, rather, kill the first wave of mobs that charge you. You can use any range or mage that you have to hit the mage from afar. Also, hit the yellow mini-boss. Once you start approaching the bridge, be mindful of the traps that are laid there.
Make sure Leliana has some means of detecting traps (or you have some means). With any luck, the mage will run down the cliff to confront you along with the yellow mini boss. Once that happens, you can quite easily dispatch both.
As for Wynne,
This encounter is a B*tch, unless you know what you're doing. Basically, you want your whole party to rush the Omega ASAP. Forget the regular mobs that chase you. By this point, you should have enough dps to dispatch em all fairly quickly. Just make sure to get up the hill and take on the Omega. I like to throw a stonefist at him with Wynne, and then have my whole group close in. Also make sure to have some kind of ability to cleanse a curse of mortality, because Omega 'loves' that spell.
Once you close in on him, dps him down fast and the small mobs shouldn't be too difficult to handle.
Still... all in all the game difficulty is really inconsistent. You could be cruising along slaughtering mobs right and left, and then you come upon one spot that suddenly spikes up, and then everything goes back to normal. People still talk about how after killing a dragon, they wipe to a pack of frickin wolves!, because of the cheapness of overwhelm.
And mobs that you normally have no trouble with, start to become more annoying the higher you level up.. archers being the big one. Scattershot spam is just plain retartded, and you don't have any magic that can shrug it off.
It would've been nice if the game came with some sort of warning throughout play, letting you know when to be on your guard. But then again, the devs never designed this game to be playing no-reload style. If they did, we probably wouldn't be limited to 4 party members
Cheers

My family's dead. Mom. Dad. Dead. Fergus . . .well, according to the King, he's 'out scouting'. Apparently can't be found until after the battle. Suddenly I'm not sure if I can trust him.
Let me go back - it was Howe. His men were late - lies. A damn trap is what it was. They took the castle - killed everyone. Iona died right in front of me . . . if I'd opened the door . . . but I didn't. And I'm still alive. Not proud about sneaking out like I did, leaving my parents behind, but Duncan insisted.
Duncan - another one I'm no longer sure about. Grey Warden. Came for Ser Gilmore he said - but admitted I was his first choice. The he makes my father swear to give me to the Wardens in exchange fo helping me and my mother escape. While my father is lying there DYING!!!!
Can I trust anyone here? Those other two recruits - one's a thief, the other a knight - so he says. Seems a little slow for a knight. And this Alistair. Junior warden, sure, but senior to me - yet follows my every order. Why?
I need to get some sleep. Long hard travelling to get here, and tomorrow we're going out into the wilds - just me, Daveth, Jory, and Alistair - to harvest some darkspawn blood for their ritual. What kind of ritual needs darkspawn blood???? And why must my hound, Stupid, stay behind? HIM I trust. These others . . . we'll see. . . .

Met someone out there - young girl, a witch. Interesting girl, actually. Smart, sense of humor - dry wit, really - and better looking then you'd think for someone who lives in a swamp. Wonder if I'll ever see her again. Met her mother too . . . something about her was . . .well, odd. For an old woman, she seemed very confident, facing 4 armed men. Might be worth looking into after this is over.
The others. Daveth and Ser Jory, dead during the ritual. Jory refused, and Duncan killed him. Daveth - the ritual did that. Now I'm a Grey Warden. Hopefully, that will mean something - maybe even help me survive tomorrows battle. We'll see.
Day 3 - The battle is over. The King is dead. Duncan is dead. The whole army is dead, over run. Loghain turned and marched away, the traitor!!!
He was supposed to attack from the rear once the battle was joined. Alistair and I - with the help of Stupid, of course, and a mage we came across - fought our way through the Tower of Ishal. It had been taken by darkspawn - while being held by Loghain's men, supposedly. We took it back, reached the roof. The battle was almost lost, but the King's forces still held. Loghain COULD have made the difference. But after we lit the beacon, I watched him turn his forces, and march away. I watched the darkspawn overwhelm what was left of the King's forces. I watched him fall to an Ogre, watched Duncan slay it, then fall himself. After that, well . .
I write this from Flemeth's hut. She's the old woman we met in the wilds yesterday. To hear Morrigan tell it - she's the girl, by the way - Flemeth single handedly saved Alistair and me (and Stupid) and brought us here, and healed us. I remember none of it. But, if it's true, I again wonder - who IS she????
Tommorrow, Morrigan will lead us to a town called Lothering. Alistair and I intend to seek out Arl Eamon. I know of him, though I've never met him. A good man, well-respected. Powerful. He can be a strong ally, if he agrees to help us. We need to forge a new army, and the Arl's forces weren't at Ostagar. He can help us against Loghain, I hope. We also need to contact the Elves, Dwarves, and seek help from the Circle mages. The blight must be stopped - and it seems it's left to me an Alistair to do it.
We start tommorrow.

I will be playing on Hard, but am only intending to restart on a wipe (I kind of want to experience injuries). Eitherway when I have my character ready to go I will be sure to update you guys, let you know when my PC inevitably bites-it and if its not to much of a transgression of the forums rules, when the game ending wipe occurs. (Probably preluded by my Mouse entering the space race).
Goodluck to all of you.
