how do i delete a character from the game itself?

you delete your character from your Dragon Age Profile here on the site (as long as you tied your Xbox Live profile to your profile here). Go to your "My Profile" and click on any of the DA O game announcements to your profile, it should take you to your Persona page where you can see all your characters

My Xbox > System Settings > Select your HD > Games > Find Dragon Age > Delete all saves with the character's name you want gone, make sure you get them all.
