I thought it was a terrible idea to put kate beckinsale as ashley...she has a british accent.

Go watch Click.

true i do know where you are coming from i have seen click, but still i want to replace Yvonne

Ehhhhh. that'd be a hard thing to do. That character is  pretty much her and there won't be any getting around that.

A Mass Effect movie?

i hope its just some1's fantasy and stays that way. ME has done so well on its own as a game, all other movies based on games have been crappy failures.

i hope this is 1 game they dont insult just trying to cash in on the franchise in another media

Took the words right out of my mouth....Wing commander anyone?  Loved the game, hated the movie.....

Edit:  Just to add to my previous point.  I think the reason why most video games turned movies are bad is because it feels like it's written more by fanboys and less by well proven writers (or writers just trying to make the rent).  Also the casting usually isn't that well done.

Be advised, this is my opinion only that is based on few or no facts and mostly on personal experience.  Facts take too much time to reasearch....

That was the Lost in Space remake movie. It was Freddy Prinze Jr. that helped ruin WC.

Mathew Lillard could play Conrad Verner though.

Tom Hardy (the lead actor in Bronson) as Zaeed. Yeah he isn't old enough, but he technically wasn't as old as his role in Bronson was supposed to be either. Smart use of make up and you have a properly menacing actor ready to go.

I agree that I'd prefer this movie not to be made, although Bioware has already stated that they'd oversee every aspect of the movie, and that they already know that most games turned into movies have been a complete failure, and want to avoid that....

...problem is that I don't know who'd win in this war...Bioware's common sense, or the innate stupidity of Hollywood's studios :P

Yeah, Urban could work, too. Kaidan looks like he might have some South Asian ancestry, plus IIRC he was born in Singapore, so I tried to find an actor who could fit (or come close to) that ethnicity.

I'd like to start by saying that I really like the idea of Amanda Tapping playing Ashley.

In addition, though I don't think it would be a necessarily accurate portrayal, I think Will Smith could make Jacob a much more interesting character.

And then maybe Vin Diesel as Zaeed? I think he has the right kind of feel as an actor...even if he doesn't have the slight accent.

Actually, if how well she played Joe in Eurka would be the kind of personality she bring to Ashley's character... This is a great choice.

Agreed. I really want to see Black Dynamite. Michael Jai White is probably technically too old for Jacob (he was born in 1967), but whatever, he's in good enough shape that he looks younger.

Is it too much to hope that the reported Mass Effect movie has NOTHING to do with Commander Shepard and instead focuses on something else? Like maybe the first contact war?

This I would watch. Honestly, to hear the shepard story is what I play the games for (which, I might add, Is way more fun than sitting watching a movie who's events I can't change).

Black Dynamite is good times. It hits the right notes to spoof the blacksploitation genre while still being a fun movie. It does have a few awkward moments in there, but the ending sequence makes up for it.
