Being a huge fan of films like Aliens and Blade runner and my love for Mass effect i have to go with Sci-fi. What about you?

Both. I know I didn't answer your question, and I'm sorry for that, but I really can't pick just one. I'm looking at it from a book person's perspective here, and there are so many good authors in both genres that all the cool stuff they come up with makes it impossible to choose. Mayber others will be more helpful.

Thats why i think this is a good thing to discuss, they have alot of simularities but are both special in there own way. And a developer like Bioware that makes Sci-fi and Fantasy i cant think of a better place to discuss it than there social network.

Normally I'd say fantasy, but after all those years I'm kinda tired of elves and all that stuff (G.R.R.Martin ftw though), so currently it's sci-fi as it's a bit more fresh.
If I had to be more specific, then Cyberpunk takes the cake (for me sci-fi means laser guns, spaceships, etc.). That's my most favorite genre. Shame there's so few (good) cyberpunk games.

I grew up on Sci-fi. I mean, my favorite movie when I was 3 was T2 Judgement Day, and my name was derived from Princess Leia from Star Wars. Fantasy was never as big as Sci-fi growing up.
I'm a die-hard Sci-fi kind of girl, but the genre feels stale to me. I don't know if I'm tired of the whole spaceships and lasers thing, but I don't enjoy Sci-fi as much I used to. Fantasy is intriguing for me, and if I had to choose, I'd choose Fantasy.
I still love both genres, but dark modern/urban fantasy has got to be my favorite.

I think it's all those crappy shows and movies on the Syfy channel. If I see another poorly made Stargate or Star Trek or Star Wars spinoff show I think I'll gauge my eyes out...
Those crappy low-budget shows have left a really bad taste in my mouth and tainted the Sci-fi genre for me. The only show I'm watching this year is Doctor Who.

Fair
enough. I don't have Syfy... so I can't really judge that. Though I do
like Stargate a lot, though Universe thus far has been quite
disappointing. Never watched Doctor Who... friend of mine told me it's
pretty good though.

They're fun in the "so terrible it's funny" category, but that's about all. I avoid Syfy since they changed their name, however. There was nothing wrong with SciFi (and I liked the "if" commercials.)chiliztri wrote...
Syfy is teeming with low budget made-for-TV movies that I just can't watch.

The few that try anything different get cancelled as well.I remember the Total Recall series was rather different and yet it still got cancelled, though that may be because everyone expected it to be like the film and not to be so much like an Isaac Asimov story (the parallels with I, Robot are immense, though I'm not talking about the Will Smith film there).
