I know he does that only because someone mentioned it on one of these threads. I've never done it before, but to answer you question, no you aren't the only one.

I wasn't stupid enough to "preserve it".
The reapers left behind these things to bring order to the chaos of organic life. Remember that always.

TIM will likely see the reapers technology as advancing the good of the human race once he has his hands on it. He'll probably be one of the main enemies in ME3. he will try to take humans to next stage of evolution, Reaperdom for the human race.

I dunno. I really hate how Paragon Shep justifies his actions. He doesn't even mention the possibilities of indoctrination or anything. No logistics. Just the morality of it.
Keeping the base gives you great dialogue options until talking with TIM and then you have mediocre, but at least not terrible dialogue options. It feels like the right thing to use the technology against the Reapers... make them take their own medicine... but I don't want to give it to TIM. It's like being able to save/kill the council... but not being given a choice between Anderson and Udina and one of them would be picked for you. It's just not what you want.

Y'all realise that TIM ain't human, right? Or at least he doesn't give 2 sh*ts about humanity's survival. The simple fact was - to get the reaper up and running, another 1,000,000+ gooified humans would have been needed.

I am resisting the urge to debate why destroying the base is stupid.

What, you expected him to be angry? Disappointed? Constipated?
