If I may be permitted to complain about 1 more thing... the previews of new skills they're showing for the classes (rogue & warrior so far) had me concerned too.... mechanics-wise they're fine.. they add something useful.... but almost all of them recycle the exact same sword-swing animation from DA... no new animations at all.... yes, they added some new particle effects... but it would be nice if the new 2-handed sword skills weren't recycled animations of the Mighty blow attack animation.

Same goes for the rogue attack skills... recycled attack animations. (The exception is rain of arrows.... kudos on that.. this is what I wanted from an expansion... a cool new skill with a brand new awesome attack animation as well).

Oh man, I thought I was the only one that found those new skills hilariously recycled.

Oh, come on, guys. If the review is negative, game informer is full of arrogant jerks?

You should all read the full review (http://social.biowar...7/index/1646371) before freaking out too much -- the OP exaggerates a bit. The review doesn't say that "only two of the new party members were memorable," for example, it says "Awakening enriches the universe with new revelations and characters (two of the new party members are particularly awesome)."

The Game Informer review is too vague. Yahtzee's more of an entertainer than a reviewer, but he's specific about what he likes and what he doesn't like.

I'm thinking it was a big mistake to leave out the "romance" portion of the game. Building relationships and friendships was what made DAO so unique. You really felt immersed in the story line. I'm definitely willing to take a chance on Awakening but I'm hoping they will see the error of their ways and bring out a 3rd round with all the elements of Origins that made the world more than the usual hack and slash...

Could not agree with you more.

I'm not going to comment on the review since I only read them, but very rarely made game buying decisions based on them. F3 was the last time I'll listen to what a reviewer says about a game.

However, Game Informer is one of those magazines that's a terror to read. Depending on the game, their reviews last all of two sentences and aren't detailed in the slightest.

No. Game Informer is full of arrogant jerks, regardless of the review.

Ha, people basing opinions off of that half assed review. I'm ashamed of you people. The review is amateur at best. Completely missing the point that this is an expansion and not a full game. I'm more disappointed with the the Game Informer review than the score they gave it. All the other reviewers call it what it is, more Dragon Age. Why not look for second opinions? or better yet, stop being mindless sheople and basing your opinions on a single review that completely missed the point.

You are right. Personally, I am very happy to have more Dragon Age.

It seems to me that the reviewers are always harsh on any dlc for just being more of the same but the fact is, with a game like this, more of the same is good. I would prefer that than if they made wholesale changes and made it feel completely different to the game that I love.

Dunno about you guys, but GI isn't exactly a great reviewer. They have crappy writers compared to IGN or Kotaku.

are there any opinions about the dialogue and de decisions you can make? that was my favourite part in DAO. i played RTO today and was very disappointed, just combat and no dialogue at all. i just have the feeling awakening was finished much too short, it cant possibly be as polished and deep as DAO, but I hope ist not a 15h version of RTO.

So you didn't notice the awesome kill animation for the new Two-Handed Sword skill? Unless that's recycled too, I barely used Two-Handers..

Or don't get the same incentives from the devs?

Half those reviews on IGN and GameSpot are a farce too. Is it merely a coincidence that most of the well recieved games on those sites are the same games that take up a large portion of the advertising space?

That kill animation already exists in Dragon Age -- they recycled that as well.

Only rain of arrows so far seems to use a new animation.. .everything else so far up to this point is all recycled animation :(

To put it bluntly, dragon ages combat was nothing to get excited about, many dragon age-style rpgs (the witcher, for instance) have better combat, but I still liked dragon age much more than any rpg of it's style that I have played, hell I liked it better than ANY game I've played in the last 5+ years. From what we've heard so far though it seems combat is by far their main focus in awakening and therefore excluding the things that made dragon age stand out so much.

Just my opinion though, don't flame me if yours differs from mine :D

The Witcher has better combat? lol That was the reason why i never finished that game... My opinion as well of course.

combat in the witcher and dragon age are not at all comparable due to the lack of party and tactics and the immense amount od DAs skills in the witcher, I loved the witcher though, fantastic game.
but dragon age:origins has the best combat system i have ever seen in a single player rpg, and I'm playing the genre since the might and magics and ultimas of old.
sadly, the boss fights could have been much better, flemeth and the boss in the mage tower only hinted what would be possible: complex fights with different phases like in MMOS, and I'm very excited about awakening and I hope there are some great boss battles in it.

Well, it wasn't a negative review - it just wasn't glowing with praise.

While the romancing options were nice, I think people are giving them WAY too much credit for making the game enjoyable.

Not a great review in Game Informer...

I shall now be a complete and utter dickwad.

Is anyone REALLY suprised that Game Informer gave an RPG a less then "sparkling" score?

They gave Fable 2 a 9/10.

let me repeat that.

THEY GAVE FABLE !%$#ING TWO A NINE OUT OF TEN.

Yea I agree.

Whocares about their review though.  They complain because it is more of the same yet that is what I want.  I want more same Dragon age.  So I don't care.
