well... pinnacle station is mildly fun... nothing more... it does make sens if you plan on replaying the whole ME1... but it does not effect ME2 in any way I could have noticed... and ME3... I bet even the developers have no info on that!

Apparently it has zero effect -- unlike its superior predecessor Bring Down the Sky. It just has a pretty nice reward, but not even that carries over so no point really.
It can, however, be of great help if you want to level up and get achievements in ME1. But that's about it.

I hope I get to go to my apartment I won from finishing Pinnacle Station but I haven't heard anything definitive from Bioware about it.

Actually, I think the DLC itself was a joke. It shouldn't have had such a good reward. They could have spared that apartment for a more "realistic" DLC mission.

What's the effect of BDtS in ME2? I played it after importing my character, so my canon Shepard never did the mission.

From the wiki :
* If you completed the Bring Down the Sky there will be a newscast about a memorial celebration on Terra Nova
* If you saved Kate Bowman she will send you an e-mail thanking you. She will also be mentioned in a newcast saying she will be giving a speech on Terra Nova during the Cellebration about the fallen alliance soldiers
* If the hostages died or the player did not complete the Bring Down the Sky mission, a newscast will mention that a Reverend Bowman will hold a prayer session for them. If the hostages were saved a newscast will mention Balak escaped and is still at large.
My addition : Pinncle station ain't worth it but die hard fans like me bought it anyway and hated it.
EDIT : lol, ninjad.

Thanks, guys. Not too big of a deal then, but I'm sure glad I played BDtS anyway, it ruled.

having just finished pinnacle station. It has an awesome reward for a suckful DLC. If you have problems with ME being too much shooter over RPG don't play it at all. Its basically all shooter with no real roleplay value. although I now have a ****in bachelor pad.

Pinnacle station is ok. Clearly no rp value, but if you just want to shoot things and practice working with your team mates (develop strategy for the ones you rarely use) then it helps. I think it also contributes to the achievement for having a team mate by your side the whole game.
Having said that, the reward was pretty mundane and kind of cheaty. Infinite grenades, sort of, and the ability to X out a bunch of gear if you're rich enough. You can buy armor and sell it for a profit, easily maxing out your cash...
It would have been cooler if your reward was to own some club/bar that has some activity going on... why does he need an apartment that he can't invite anyone to, he can't even sit down, and the tv doesn't even work? ugh. Whatever.
Having said that, if you want a pure RP DLC then go with the crash site.

Others have beaten me to the punch, but I'll make my voice heard anyway. No effect on ME2, but good if you want extra XP or achievements. I bought it simply because it was ME content, and only really enjoyed the final mission and the reward for beating it.

Pinnacle is crap.
Really, you waste your time. It's so much crap, I'd give it to you for free, if my laptop handn't died two days ago.

Pinnacle station was great for the "impossible mission" at the end. They should bring it back in 2 and 3. it's the perfect way to relive historic moments in the mass effect fiction that we'll never get to play otherwise, or crazy "what if" scenarios. The real hook to the idea of pinnacle station is creating interesting fiction arround the creation of a VR program. Reliving a segment of the turrian contact war was a blast.

I think it has been said that there 'may be' some dlc later this year for hunting down Balak, in ME2. However, how this would affect those who killed him, or did not play ME1, I do not know.

I loved pinnacle station, it was fun just to have somewhere to go to just indulge in combat without being interrupted by talking, not that I dont enjoy the talking but I believe a pinnnacle station dlc would be great for me2 with the more advanced combat system

'Pinnacle Station' was a joke. I think Bioware knew that too, or else they wouldn't just a drop it on the internet without some big announcement like with 'Bring down the Sky' or most of ME2's DLC.

If you want more immersion in the ME universe, then I say go buy it. But if you are going for a story-driven experience and not 99.999999% combat, then don't buy it.
Personally, I think if PS was released about a month or two after BdtS, then it wouldn't have this much negative publicity around it, it really was one big disapointment for how long it took to come out. Basically the consensus was: "I waited a year and a half for this s***???"
That's just my two cents. Turn the difficulty down to casual and you'll speed through it in less than an hour. Barely worth the 5 bucks.

I thought pinnacle station in some levels were tedious to play. I never played it twice.

I found it enjoyable to play, but it really does pale in comparison to Bringing Down the Sky. Probably not worth the $5 to most people because of that. Does provide an easy way to get some high level equipment in the end, though.
