Bioware apparently believes it's entire customer base has HD televisions or very large screens.  This is incredibly annoying to me.  I just bought a $60 game that gives me headaches because I have to squint 2 feet from the screen every few seconds just to follow what's going on.  Other XBOX 360 games I have do not have this issue so I fail to see how Bioware thinks this is acceptable.

I'm aware that Bioware said something to the effect of the text size being a "design" choice.  WTF?  That's a moronic answer to an obvious flaw in an otherwise enjoyable game.  I say enjoyable because I'm assuming if one can actually read anything on the screen, then the game would be fun.  I just finished the first mission and will never play this game again because at this moment my eyes are sore after only 10 minutes of game play.

Bioware should feel ashamed for casting off their customers complaints the way they did.  Or they should put a disclaimer on their product stating that the game will not work on certain T.V.'s.  I want a refund.

I'm sorry for you buddy, but I'm quite sure you can find an old PC monitor for quite nothing. With a VGA cable, you have it and you have it nicer than on your TV ;)

Of course it must be me, right? Yet I'm not the only one who has had this problem with this particular game.

My TV is 30 inches and only 3 years old. Not top of the line, not bottom barrel either.

One should NEVER have to upgrade their TV to play ONE PARTICULAR game. Not when every other game in my possession does not have this problem.

Hmm, why does the "OMG, PCS SUCK BECAUSE YOU HAZ TO UPGRADE IT EVERY WEEK" argument you consolites use suddenly spring to mind?

I don't have this problem because I have a nice tv, but I would agree that if the game does not work on Standard def tv's then a warning should be placed on it. That goes for everything going forward.

I have no idea what your talking about Dethateer. I'm discussing an XBOX problem and never brought up PCs.

The arguement your making makes it sound like a person should have to upgrade their TV to accomodate xbox games. That's like upgrading your sound system for a CD. Of course it's a good idea, but it isn't required for functionality. It's a superficial upgrade.

With this game, it is unplayable on my TV when my 15 other games work perfectly well on it. The game is the cause, not the TV.

If I understand well, the problem is that the writing is too small, right ?

The game doesn't display properly because of improper hardware.

Ah yes subtitles, we have dismissed that claim.

Why do so many people need subtitles to play the game, What you can't hear properly to tell the meaning of the words?

Nah, dude, you don't get it, it's the tooltips he can't read... And the dialogue wheel.

You can read the subs faster than they speak, enabling you to skip through dialogue faster if you wish.

Then there's that whole REST OF THE WORLD aspect, because not everyone is unlucky enough to be born in the UK or USA.

Razvan wasn't born in the UK, US, NZ, Canada or Australia. And neither was I, or more than half of the people on this forum.

If you have roommates are playing late into the night, subtitles are nice. Same for subsequent playthroughs if you want to skip through some of the voiced dialog and just read it.

Personally, I don't think this is much of a complaint. Most people DO have nicer tvs these days, and if you can afford an xbox and a new game, you can probably save up enough for a nice smaller end HDTV.

Yes, ALL of the text is unreadable on my tv.

I get that this game is meant to be visually attractive. I love that about it. I understand that my tv is a bit out of date for modern games. I have been meaning to upgrade for awhile.

My point is that they sold me a game that was made specifically for HD, knowing that not all XBOX owners have HD. A disclaimer is necessary here since one cannot simply get one's money back once the game is played.

Whoa there buddy calm the heck down.

A) HD televisions are the way that console games are going, if you plan on continuing to play on a console you should probably upgrade. You're going to have to eventually.

B) Doesn't happen on other xbox games? Ever play dead rising or if you like rpgs, a game called mass effect 1? I played through both games on a standard def 27 inch screen. Was the text annoying? Yes. did i complain? No because i was aware that this was going to happen eventually.

C) Should there be some warning against this? Yes but if anything a small disclaimer on the back not the giant eyesore on the cover you seem to suggest.

D) does bioware diserve the bashing your giving them on their own forums? Absolutely not.

I can't read the text unless I squint and lean into the screen. I agree, it's extremely annoying.

Did you have the same problem with the first game? While I have a nice 42" HDTV now, I played through the first game on a 24" LDTV and didn't have any more of a problem reading things than I did with other games.

Edit: I just noticed the comment about Dead Rising. I'll admit, I stopped playing that game after only a couple hours because I had NO IDEA what was going on. That's the worst game (from a font standpoint) I've ver played.

Why should Bioware care about the handful of people who haven't gotten an HD TV yet? Thats your problem not Biowares, Should Bioware have put Mass Effect on 3000 Floppies because some people might not have disc drives? Or maybe they should have released the game sounds track on Cassette Tape for people with out CD players? Sorry but update or shut up. Not our fault you lets your self you let your self get behind the times.

Can't believe I'm about to defend a console user.
SHOCKINGLY, HD TVs are expensive. You can't claim it's his fault for not being able to afford upgrading earlier.

they clearly only tested games on HD screens, whatever, its just text, why would you stop playing a game because the text is hard to read... isn't it more about the game itself... I have a 42 inch HD tv though so wtf do I know

Personally I don't have any problems with the text.. Well it is extremely small.. But not so small that I can't read it.. My TV is nearly 10 years old too so its not like my TV is top of the line or anything. This is something that was brought up a long time ago and even made the front page of Yahoo.. So this is something that BioWare is well aware of and will probably not implement in ME3..

Do some research then before purchasing the product. The game has been out for a month and a half and this topic has been discussed before.

There are lots of games that have very small text on XBOX 360. Lost Odyssey and Rock band come to mind.

I have a HD TV that cost me around 400 $, hell there are some even cheaper here. That price compared to upgrading a PC isn't high.
