2.4 – If I import my character, can I respecc him/her before I play
Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening? (Back to top)
No, you can only respec a character by purchasing the "Manual of
Focus" from Herren in the Vigil's Keep courtyard. Herren has an
unlimited supply and for a price of 6 gold each, you can use these
manuals to respec your character or any of your companions.

my question is this:
what exactly does "respec" mean?
there are three major choices you make in character development (outside of storyline/decisions in game)
-attribute allocation
-talent tree/skills allocation
-specialization selction (i.e. duelist, assassin, etc)
what does the respec do? is it ONLY the specialization? or is it everything?
thanks in advance if anyone knows.
"respec potion" - in DA:O awakening - question

It respecs everything. Strips you of everything and leaves you the points to add back on. It was shown on the live demo

Everything. Atributes, Specialization points, Skill points, and Talent points will all be reset so you can re-spend them all.

The manual takes away 2 pts from attributes and 1 pt from skills. Dont know where they go but I didnt get them.

Personally I'm hoping for an update from weriKK on his respec mod.
These manuals seem to **** up more than actually help.

I forgot to check before I respecced myself, but might be one of the DLC tomes you've used in Origins that disappears? Only answer to them disappearing I can come up with.

Do you think the manual's respec tax is because it doesn't recognize that you previously purchased manuals from the DA:O? (the ones that give you an ability point and skill points? that's my guess)

I think it has more to do that the it doesn't import DLC content, which in turn would mean you don't get the attribute/skill points the tomes would give.
Then again, this is just a guess/speculation (I didn't notice a loss of attribute/skill points)

Take your armor off first, check your stats then respec. I thought the same thing too until I realised I got bonuses for amor/weapons etc. Seemed to work ok for me
