As the title implies^^. Should Commander Shepard have a dramatic, spectacular, death at the end of ME3? As much as everybody loves Sheperd, I think he should die like a hero in ME3. Possibly sacrificing himself for the galaxy to survive? It would certainly add good shock value to the game. Or should he live on? Thoughts?

There should be an option for an epic death, that I could go for

Totally.

I see my FemShep as the kind of woman who would refuse a chair on the council. If Kaidan came back maybe they'd have a little story together, but after a while she'd feel unhappy and she'd commit suicide most probably.

Ahh the drama!!! <3

I think best option for my character would be dying in battle.

Ya, definitely the option. In the end pull a DA:O and have the player choose to have their love interest die, they die, or Anderson die.

How epic?

Like Shepard riding on a unicorn dashing towards Harbinger to impact its mass effect core, causing its Reaper shell to break, rays of rainbows lighting through the cracks, and then explodes into glitter and fire that rains above Earth's skies?

Like that?

as long as it doesn't imply a Halo 3 type ending, then certainly

No, he should die by tripping over his own shoelaces.

No.. Personally I think that would ruin the entire franchise for me. I mean sure it could be a choice but I don't want it to be the only "Paragon" choice.. What could they do in terms of DLC if it ends with the death of Shepard? I'm hoping that the end of ME3 is left open for you to explore the entire universe after everything and everyone is saved from the Reaper/Collector threat..

shepard dieing should be an option, not mandatory, another option should be something glorius, like shepard optaining th ultimate power to deastroy the reapors, or maybe rule the galaxy, yeah that would be good. or even gasp, destroy the reapers but destroy all civilization in the galaxy as well. what options you get at the end of mass effect 3 wil depend entirely on the choices you make playing the game.

Hells yeah, something akin to the ending of Armageddon basically sacrificing yourself to save the galaxy.

An epic death should be one of several possible outcomes, but certainly not a requirement. After everything Shepard has done and all the friends he's gained, it'd be a shame to not have a happy ending as well.

This should be the endnig options

Everyone lives including Shepard (only characters that die are part of the plot) Reapers are defeated

Some people die and Shepard lives, Reapers defeated

Reapers kill everyone and the cycle is complete

The Reapers win and enslave Shepard and any surviors

Shepard commits an epic sacerfice to save everyone

Shepard commits suicded if his LI dies

This is the best way to go, everyone is happy and good way to end the series.

This. Similar to the DA:O heroic death - not a consequence of sucking, like it is in ME2, but just heroic.

No. As indicated by the fact that people are already expecting it to happen, it would be a trite and predictable attempt to manufacture cheap drama.

I really hope that Bioware can spend the time to be more creative than that with their story.

Thats why you make it an option like in DAO. Not adding the option would do alot of harm then good.

No epic death for my Shep. Shep and Tali riding the Normandy SR-87 or whatever it is by then into the unknown for more adventures. Screw an actual end, leave it open.

It's going to be hard topping the Reapers. Going back to skirmishing with Batarian pirates in the Attican Traverse will be small beer compared to them. So yes, a good death for Shepard might be preferable.
