Should Shepard have an epic death in ME3?

The same options of living-dying in ME3 that we had in ME2. I HATE having the only option of being a "Tragic Hero" in my rpg's. I don't mind jumping through hoops to ensure that not only I live, but those with me live as well. In games such as this, where we're investing 25-35 hours into a single play through of the game, many of us want the option of the cliche ridden heroic ending in which the hero lives to fight another day.

It should be an option. And please, as said before, not the DA:O option where either you die or your LI dies - or you do something that could potentially doom the rest of the world/galaxy in a few years so you both live. I hated that. Hated it.

Personally, I want my Shepard to live. Hell after defeating the Reapers (and hopefully getting rid of Cerberus) I wouldn't mind spending a few years just chasing down pirates and making the galaxy a safer place in smaller ways. You know, have your LI and your team (or what's left of them) at your side. Making a new golden age of galactic peace. No fluffy bunnies or rainbows though.

But like I said, for those who want their Shepards to die in a blaze of glory, give them the option.

As epic(ly funny) as attempting to mate with Morinth?

Shepard will most likely be on the next Council in some fashion. He'll either be the Paragon in which he's wanting to work with the other Alliance races towards furthering a galactic unity between all of them, or the Renegade end of things in which they all either fall in line or "else".

I finally got around to watching the death by snu snu video on youtube. That look on Shepards face was hilarious. That's one hell of a way to go out.

Paragon Shepard should be saved by playing your team to rescue him.

Renegade shepard should die horribly and epically... alone.

RPGs should be about giving players options ... so giving players an option to save a buttload of lives through sacrifice should be dooable. Also options not to make a sacrifice and settle down with your LI [epilogue] should be another option .... The more choices we the players have the better things will be IMHO.

Its seem a lot of people are in favor for it but would like it to be one of a few different possible endings. I agree

There should be an option. If the game tries to force me into killing my main homeboy Shepard, I'm going to be pissed.

As the title implies^^. Should Commander Shepard have a dramatic, spectacular, death at the end of ME3? As much as everybody loves Sheperd, I think he should die like a hero in ME3. Possibly sacrificing himself for the galaxy to survive? It would certainly add good shock value to the game. Or should he live on? Thoughts?

I would not be surprised at all. Turing Shepard into a martyr would be more cliche than actually letting the hero survive.

"Shepard's fate is bound up with the fate of the Reapers". While they live, he lives; should they die, so will he. The implants within him, very possibly based on Reaper tech; his apparent immunity to indoctrination; Harbinger's obvious interest in him and only him; all point to this connection.
So yes, he should.

Long story short, he is the Gollum of Mass Effect. Yes, I ripped the quote from Gandalf and changed names.

Screw that, I'm going to live as galactic savoir!

While death should be an option. It is hardly neccessary for the best ending. Remember how Fallout 3s ending sucked?

It's going to be hard topping the Reapers. Going back to skirmishing with Batarian pirates in the Attican Traverse will be small beer compared to them. So yes, a good death for Shepard might be preferable.

Shep will found a colony.
