I play it on hard and i'm having a blast. Difficulty is pitched just right but then i am amazing at these things and you're obviously an idiot. Honestly how can people complain about difficulty as if it were a major sticking point. Grow up, get a pair and actually try thinking about your gaming experiance for once and you'll realise what you been missing and how rewarding games can be.

DaO is only frustratingly difficult if you have the habit of smashing the controls against your forehead like a fitting gibbon.

Yes, the game is pretty hard at times at normal. Luckily it is, I am having a total blast being challenged by the bosses. I am however very happy that my main character is a mage specializing in damage dealing, as that helps a lot. I don't like playing with too much CC (rogues bore me) so instead of immobilizing AOE damage does the trick as well :-) With my current party a damage mage, a healing mage and two fighters I am challenged just right, no fight can be facerolled and the harder ones leave me with a real sense of accomplishment.

Those that have trouble with the game should take a good look at their party makeup and adjust it to suit their playing style. And don't be afraid to stock up and use health and mana pots, that's what they are for :-)

I think that the difficulty argument, which has been pervasive throughout these forums, is something that does need to be addressed. I particularly love the challenge of MOST battles, however there are a few select fights, ie. Elven Ritual Battle, that are exceedingly tough.

I have all the faith in Bioware that they'll address this issue.Image IPB

The normal mode is as it should be... a challenge.. Sure the zerg survive missons can be difficult "i.e. Redcliff" I save after every little battle through that zone probably should'nt have started that one at lvl 7 "focus fire all elites" and use pull moves to pull 3 at a time if you can back to your party hiding in the ally's

I have been on hard the entire time, and after about 22 hours or so for me the game got incredibly easy compared to before : (

Only wiped once in past 7 hours... hopefully it ramps up again!

A lot of people feel betrayed, because in accordance to trailers, we were expected something very different. We have anothe Neverwinter instead.
What a shame, Bioware...

hehe

and yet another pre-concieved notion of how a game is going to be before even playing......who's fault is this?

and you really think trailers are representative of gameplay....

again I laugh in your face.

serves you right.

Trailers is supposed to represent the "What you see is what you get" not "look at this awesome trailer showing off how good he is killing but in the game he's weak"

I mean Christ, even they Grey Warden you play enters where that fat darkspawn chick is ALONE. That sends a message to our brains telling us "the Grey Wardens are tought, prominent, experts at fighting and born killers"

Again comes the difficulty level, why choose? Look at FF7, you start out weak but you certainly can hold your own, look at WoW, you start off as a simple man to this big killing machine, no difficulty level needed, only levels, Elites and bosses.

Make sure to check for injuries. Whenever a party member "falls" in combat they are left with some kind of injury which penalizes one of your stats depending on the type of injury. Multiple injuries can occur if not healed. Carry healing kits with you all the time or make a trip to the party camp which will auto heal said injuries.

I don't get it, I am playing on "Normal" and I can do ok on the "story" fights.  About level 12 now, but any of the "random" fights when traveling are neigh impossible.  They seem to always be way harder than any of the plot missions.

My party:
Me Rogue-Dual Wield, Stealth

Alistair-Sheild / Tank

Morrigan- Cone of Cold, Sleep so far

Leilana- Ineffective archer/awesome lockpicker, pickpocket.

Wynne-Should be spelled Win. Support/healing

Sten- Seriously has anyone been able to do anything with this guy? He won't talk to me, gets taken down by a single mob and no matter what stuff I give him Allistair seems to outdamage him.

Zevram- Sneaky Assasin,

Dog- Love the AOE stun ability but just can't seem to dent anything

Shale- Paper Tank

My party usually gets permastunned to death by overwhelming numbers in Denerim, AOE'd to ashes in outdoor encounters, or my favorite- hit by 4 Scattershots AND being permastunned by 6 melee baddies.

I am pretty sure I haven't gimped myself or the party, went with Dex for Rogues, Str for melee, Magic/Wil for Mages....

But man do I die HARD

I am playing on steam, how can I check the version I am running?
