Unless they been working a lot expansions at the same time -- they are very complex after all -- I don't think they are doing that --- during DA:O & DA:A at same time is a lot, adding a third -- ouch

if that is true, i think it will be awesome, but i think we need to wait until our copies of DA:A are on our hands.

Like most things there are multiple stages in making games.  The same way a film franchise like Harry Potter or LotR can be filmed at the same time (or parts of it).  People shift through projects as their job becomes a lesser priority.

sounds about right, they pretty much nailed the formula in terms of gameplay on the first one, so they can just skip the pre-production phase and straight into alpha and beta stage. i think it sort of confirms that it's gonna be a direct sequel like ME2, i don't think they'll have time to create the lore for a distant future. although i heard there is gonna be a engine overhaul for the game, we'll see how that turns out.

2011 is going to be a very nice year for us all: DA2 & ME3 and all the DLC leading up to it all and beyond. Wee!

Don't see why this is big news, we've known for a few weeks that something big related to DA:O would be targeted for Q1 2011.

Sad thing is EA is controlling content release regardless of it being ready or not which has led to several failed games from EA of late. I really hope that Bioware doesn't let EA destroy their name just so they can make a quick buck.

*shrug* Bioware already did the hard part, and that was working the engine to make the game both playable and enjoyable. Adding content, upgrading graphics, etc, are things that are much easier than building a game from the ground up.

Good for Bioware that they didn't make KOTOR2. OBSIDIAN DID.

I think they're refering more the the behind the scene situation that went on with KoToR 2, which was Lucasarts rushing them and forcing the release for the holiday season instead of giving the extra 4-6 months Obsidian wanted. Basically they're hoping EA isn't looming over their shoulders forcing them to put stuff out quicker then they should, lower quality for a quick cash in.

Daaamn Dragon Age 2 by next year??! Didn't Mass Effect 2 take like.... 2+ years or so to make?

That's... just... really short time and with a date Jan-March already set? Hmmmmm.

Why? It's on EA's 2010 fiscal roadmap so it's obvious Bioware and EA feel confident to a certain degree that something major, be it expansion or sequel, can be put out onto the market within the time frame. Obviously something can happen and the target could be missed, but generally you don't give your shareholders expectations unless you are pretty damn sure they can be met.

Good news can't wait. Don't think this will be rushed as imo if that was the case they would try and get it out for the holidays 2010. This has probably been in dev a long time DA:O was finished a while ago from a dev point of veiw and spent a while in QA so they have had more time than it appears to work on this.

Why? DA:O was done on march 2009. lol that's 1 month less of 2 years! What's the big difference?
