It's not like the game would be worse if it had mp? All you need to add is coop, nothing else.
Nothing else. Nothing else?! Do you now what hurdles co-op alone introduces? Is it split-screen? Do you have any clue as to what bugs split-screen can bring into a game? Is it online? Great, now they've got to add networking. And now networking bugs! How do you handle conversations? Great, got to revamp that. Unless you're going to be a dick to player two and tell him he's just got to sit through conversations with his thumb up his butt. Does player two get to create his own character? Hope not or we now have even more problems. Of course, you have to come up with an excuse for having a second character in every single origin story already. At ALL points, not just eventually.
How do they juggle characters? Who gets to handle level ups? Who gets to handle buying? Do they just half-ass it all?

I almost think they made it single player, and made this fact prominent, to actually see how many people complained about it or requested it. It almost makes me laugh how many times this has been brought up as a topic.

Hopefully, they can devote some resources towards multiplayer (and DM tools!) for the sequel.

basically to keep balance you would have to only allow the person to swich between charas in combat and activate abilities off thier pre-set quick select menu otherwise with 2 people calling up the pause and play- it would be just REALLY annoying.
that would be fine, but i think it would just seem so hollow and trashy that its better to just not include it.

It would be very easy to tie in MP to this game. The Grey Wardens sent you help. Bam there is your friend.
Me and some friends are working on making a mod to allow MP.

As the title says, how come there is no mp coop in this game? It was meant to played this way? Seriously it reminded my so much of my olden-days mmo raids, but here with an actuall story!
Any chance of a mp coop dlc?
No, no chance.
Why isn't there MP? Because then the game would have been about half the size it is now.
It's not a question of desire, it's a question of monetary resources. They have 317k Quatloos. Voice acting costs 117 Quatloos. Multiplayer costs 200 Quatloos. A great singleplayer campaign costs 150 Quatloos. Great character customization costs 50 Quatloos.
Take your pick.

I wish people would stop thinking every game would be better with multiplayer (Multiplayer is not like cheese)
Also there is not a magic 'Insert Multiplayer' button to add such things to games. Ever hour they would have spent on multiplayer would have made the original game worse as it would have been an hour lost.
Jack of all trades and master of none. They did something well, not a lot half arsed

And i would gladly pay the price if Bioware would announce a MP dlc for the game, even if that meant that the other party members just sit there while player 1 makes all the dialogue and buying/selling decisions. Heck, he can even choose the skills when the other party members gain a level.
And there would be no need for pausing the game when you have 3 other people controling the others characters, the game could be played all in realtime, I play it in realtime for the most part, and my party members go on tactics in most of my time in the game.
And one of the coolest moments in the game (for me sofar) was when fighting (spoiler alert!) one of the snoganrd. Pure electronic awesomeness, and i had noone to share it with.
So no i do not think they need to add in that much more, no extra dialogue, no need to explain why you start the game with 3 other players (as you mostly are always in a party) and no need to change anything but add in mp support.
Split screen would be ok, but i myself would prefere it through the net with 3 other ppl joining.
I do not see why this thread needs to be closed, as this is just wishfull thinking from my side. The post was not made for bashing the game, as i haven't said a bad word about it.
I was just confused as to why they did not add any sort of mp to the game, as it seem to beg to be played with a party. A coop-rpg!
But seein as you guys don't even thing that would be any fun/good idea, i begin to understand why there is no mp focus.
Well here me hoping for Coop Dragon Age 2!
Cheers!

The game as it is now is a good game. I can see MP being alot of fun. But the game does have alot of talking but if its your frist time though the talking wont matter because it would be new for you and your friend.

Awesome! Plz if you actually do manage to make a mod with MP let me be the first one in line to bugg-test it!
Or just announce it!

If you want to play DA:O multiplayer, you might try Icewind Dale 2, Baldur's Gate 2, or Neverwinter Nights 2. All great fun co-op fantasy games.
Appreciate the tip, and i have played BG2, that was some good fun, but could never get into NWN2 or IWD....
