I have been wearing the Helm of Honnnleath for quite some time because I think the +2 to all attributes is pretty awesome but when does it become time to part with it (tier 2 armor) and start wearing another helm to get the set bonuses. I have the full juggernuat armor set and the downloaded blood dragon armor. I pley a 2H berserker and Allisatar is my tank. I was thinking Jugg on myself and Blood Dragon on Allistar but that would mean finally parting with the helm? Thoughts on losing the +2 attributes compared to set bonuses???

Thanks!!

Edit: i plan on getting Evans plate and using that with the Superior dragonskin boots and gloves very soon, and neither of those have a helm. I suppose I could add the helm back on at that point.

Thoughts???

Well, there's somewhat of a possible compromise here.

Wade's Superior Dragon (something) armor (you can choose light, medium, or heavy when you give him the Dragon Scale): One of those (I can't remember, check the wiki) gives a significant amount of fatigue reduction. In addition, you can substitute Evon's the Great Mail for the chest plate and still receive the set bonus. Then you can still wear the helm and get the attribute bonuses.

Just a thought...

Edit: Great minds think alike???

It's a terrific Helm.

There's really no point in the game where you shouldn't have someone in the party wearing it.

If I recall right, you don't need the Blood Dragon helm in order to get the set bonus. I've always used Bergen's Honour on top of that one. Ever considered giving the Honnleath helm to Morrigan, for instance? Key to the City (ring) gives those +2 attribute bonuses as well.

Doesn't the Helm of Honnleath have a Strength requirement? Unless Morrigan's an Arcane Warrior, that wouldn't work.

I typically have my primary Rogue wear it.

It does, but it's very low. It's only a Steel helmet, IIRC. Got some sexy stat boosts to make up for the low defense though. I've had Leliana wear it sometimes and her strength is 22, I think.

You have to combine Evon the Great's Mail with Wade's Superior DRAGONSCALE Gloves & Boots in order to get the item set bonus.

I even modded the models and the tints of Evon the Great's Mail and Wade's Dragonscale set so that it perfectly fits to the Helm of Honneleath and Fade Wall, because I love this combination so much. :D

Sure.  A Rogue with a 20 or 22 Strength isn't uncommon.

But a Mage?

20 STR (at least with items) is even a must for rogues because Light Armor Tier 7 needs that.

But a Mage?

True, unless you are an Arcane Warrior (and strength requirements are replaced with magic) you won't put any points into strength.
However, you could use a trick: You gice the mage all that stuff that raises strength, put on the helmet and remove the rings and amulets again. ;)

Good point.  That's how I equipped the Blood Dragon Armour originally.

I agree, I think this is the best way to go and then I can pass on the juggernaught armor to Allistar.  Still can't decide at that point tho if I should spend the coin to equip Leliana with Felons coat or just give her the Superior Drakeskin. If I buy Felons I could sell both sets of drake skin but you really don;t get that much for them Posted Image

With the Winter Forge I usually craft a ring or amulet and transfer the helm's magic bonus to it, then I'm free of having to use it as a helmet. One of my characters usually winds up with 'The Ring of Honnleath.'

i love using the helm of Honnleath with my mage characters, you just need some rings and belts to temporarily boost your strength, its the only head wear that's available to a mage that looks half decent.

Having finished Awakening with a 35-level rogue he still had this helmet. )
DLC loot is seriously overpowered, it seems.

Three playthroughs in, and I've never parted with the Helm until into Awakenings when you that fancy dragon armor that makes a good replacement for the Warden Commander's Armor.

I use this helm to equip armor without having the required strength.
