I'm amazed to see you already know the quality of the power. Maybe you have some more useful insights?

You do know Liara isn't going to be a Squadmember, she'll just give you a mission; most likely involving the shadow broker, and maybe be in your team for the duration of the mission. That's it.

Yeah, I have hopes for a low price tag, but I'm not fooling myself that much :P I just want to know more about what happened to her and, hopefully, have some more clues about who the shadow broker is or what is his real objective, because I've been wondering that since I first met Barla Von.

unless it is really small and uses content from the original game (like
RTO), it will be 8-10 bucks.

The article reads that it's 1.5 hours long and that they are discussing what the price will be. Maybe someone out there would realise that only ultra hardcore fans with a very ample wallet will buy it and that they would get far more sales with a reasonable price.
Hell, if it costs eight bucks or more it will happen the same thing that happened to pinnacle station: have never played it and I don't feel I'm missing anything.

Thank you.  I could care less if Kasumi was originally intended to be in the game, the fact of the matter is that she. wasn't. ready.  Every hour spent on Kasumi after Mass Effect 2's shipping date is extra work put in by some very talented and devoted people.

While it's a shame she didn't make it to the final cut, I have absolutely no issue with paying for an extra character who hundreds (or more) hours went into.  Really, I think we should all be grateful Bioware has been so generous thus far.

hours spent on what? She only has a recruitment and loyalty mission, you can't talk to her (Zaeed copy) and adds a weapon my Soldier can't even use(SMG). They expecting us to pay for that is just bogus.

$4.99 is a lot for children and addicts.

Get over it. The game has been completely finished since release--everything else anyone gets is a bonus, and so far it's all been free. Developers give you new stuff and you complain about paying them for it? You claim it's "half in the game" just because they had the foresight to record and add the dialogue so they didn't need to record stuff later? Selfish and totally lame.

Its kinda disappointing that she doesn't have a Convo Wheel.. but, that isn't too bad. I liked Zaeed's lines.. and he seemed to be very talkative in missions and such, maybe Kasumi will be the same way.

Uh...
- Programming for character and mission.
- Substantial amount of writing for character and mission
- Voice acting costs
- Level design
- Artistry (character design, models, texture work, etc)

You act as though this kind of stuff is cheap and easy.

Because it's content cut from the original game. I'd pay if it wasn't cut from the original game, if it was something new.

Kasumi is already on the disc. Its obvious that they cut the content from the game to release it later as DLC. There are several videos on youtube which have kasumi, voice and everything in the game on the final mission. Also on the selection screen. The DLC probably just unlocks her and adds the loyalty mission thats it. Its understandable that people are mad about paying for it. The DLC should be free. Another example of EA's influence over Bioware now. This has EA written all over it.

Was Zaeed's power good? Not really. If Kasumi's power is going to be in the same combat/non-upgradeable category I don't see how it will be that great. I'm hoping it's a tech power but no I don't have any more useful insights. I thought I'd just speculate on upcoming content on a game forum that is dedicated to that sort of thing.
I really hope Bioware proves me wrong.

Zaeed's power was really, really effective against husks and enemies that bunched up together.

No, no it's not understandable.  At all.  Bioware has given us a phenomenal amount of DLC so far, all entirely free.  We should be grateful.

Instead, people are whining that we're going to have to pay for a character who obviously wasn't finished for the final cut of the game.  Somebody had to put the work in folks; why shouldn't they get paid for it?

If all of the content was entirely on the disc, I'd be inclined to agree with those who are complaining.  Since that's not the case, that means extra work had to go into Kasumi and there is no reason Bioware shouldn't ask to be paid for the hard work.

Zaeed's power was great early on but since there were no upgrades that applied to it, it kinda sucked later on. Also, the mechanics of lobbing the grenade weren't that good either. Plus, the idea of a flash-bang grenade doesn't seem very original in the context of a very original universe. I'm not bashing the power, I'm just worried that it may be more of the same.

Totally agree with this. Just because the voice is already recorded--most likely because the recording was done at the same time as everyone else's--doesn't mean her character is already on the disc. That's idiot's reasoning.

If everything was on the disc already BioWare would make awesome side quests (Bringing down the sky, Pinnacle Station) or even a continuation of the story. cutting content and selling it to players so they can have a complete game, just doesn't sound right.

Well the firewalker is going to be free, and it's not already on the game. So it evens out... right?

However I don't think I'll pay more than $5

And Zaeed is not that bad, he has a lot of dialogue, it's just not presented in the way you're used to.

Good lord some people are oblivious to game design.  I'm sorry man, but you're completely ignorant if you think this kind of thing is not a big deal.

1) Yes, but do you know what those data strings do?  I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if those data strings are there simply to allow Kasumi to be seamlessly integrated into the game, kind of a "lead-in."  What's left over is all the programing that goes into her character AI and whatever happens on the loyalty mission.
2) What the hell do you mean "What writing?"  Do you think Zaeed's talking points are generated by the game?  Somebody had to write every single line she says, and they also have to write the script for what happens on her Loyalty mission.  That's work.
3) How do you know how long it took?  There are rewrites, multiple takes.  The voice actor needs to get paid too!
4) This is complete and utter bull***t.  Have you ever spent time designing level after level?  It takes a great amount of work to figure levels out, especially if you have to redesign certain areas.
5) What artistry?  Are you kidding me?  Someone had to design the character; many people had to design her loyalty mission; texture artists were involved; modellers were involved.

Seriously people, do you think you can just say "I want a new character" and have that implemented without some serious hard work?  Get real.

My biggest complaint about ME2 is that there's no grenades. I loved having Zaeed's power. Sure, it's not effective on everything, but really, what power is? If you're complaining about Zaeed's grenades, you need to complain about Tali's energy drain, Samara's Reave, and all of the other offensive abilities, because they don't always have a use. Zaeed's power was great--you can lob into a group of unshielded organics and stun them all, while burning them to death, including the Collectors in the final mission. Useless? You're just crybabies.

I'm not against paying for it, but the prize tag should be adjusted to what it is offered, not fixed at 8-10€ (or whatever equivalent). Look at Fallout 3: I would have paid up to 15 for Point Lookout but not more than 3 for Operation: Anchorage (and don't mention Mothership Zeta). If they apply the universal price tag they are loosing a sale here, it's all I'm saying.

@JeanLuc761.

After watching some ripped off by modders from inside game files content related to Kasumi (they were able to get her in S-mission as fully active squad member so that's speak for itself) i dare to say that within those files there is about 80% content already and this DLC will be just her activator which will allow us to use her in full form.

ME did not have grenades, it was frisbees.
