Is it possible to extract a weapon from the library so you can edit and replace them with the same name in the map?
Or is there another way into import custom models and use the models as a base?

You can extract a weapon model. Use the DA model viewer to get a model then choose save all to a folder.Then use the fbx.cmd to convert it to an fbx,obj,or 3ds file. I use maya and convert to obj. and then resize my model to match the sample one. Look for the tutorial for adding a custom weapon. You just have to make a variation of your weapon and you can add it to the game. This is a custom model weapon I made
