On my next journey I am planning to create a Dwarf archer rogue. What attributes should I use to create maximum damage for an archer? Also what kind of bow should I use? AND what sustained abilities should I have on?
I wanna stay in the back hitting enemies and causing damage to help my party take out guys faster....

1. Use a longbow. Higher tier the better. Magic bonuses, too.
2. Use arrows that give bonus damage.
2a. Use a rune mod that gives your bows runeslots. Putting runes in them will give bonus damage. It works. I've tried it.
2b. Use combat tweaks that lets you poison your arrows: then do it. With Quiet Death. 
3. Increase DEX, or once you have Lethality, CUN.
4. Use Critical Shot or Arrow of Slaying.


You can do a lot of damage with your arrows. I've seen some of my AoS shots do 200-300 damage.

Anyone who says archers are underpowered have not fired many Arrows of Slaying. It's not insta-death ... but if you see your damage output, it basically is, anyway.

Good advice there CybAnt... I will add that full stealth is mandatory for this build as well. Also take ranger, helps with some stat boosts even if you do not use the pet.

My full archer spec'ed rogue has a highest hit damage of 703 ...



To the OP

It takes time for an archer to reach full potential. However, by level 15 my archer could clear the Deep Roads area on her own, using the party only for major boss battles...

Firing an arrow is all about patience and focus. Actually I think that's what you're missing...

(Dex all the way, unless you go bard, then you balance dex and cunning, all other stats are not necessary).

I do what the others say but I also bump up my archers strength...not many people do but it DOES help up the damage from even just normal shots. Even if you just get a magic item that up's the characters strength if you don't want to put points into it.
