I'm loving the game.
EDIT: And I don't usually like Final Fantasies.
Most people who do not like the Final Fantasy Series when it was insanely popular now like it after the New Generation of Japanese Game Makers took over and pretty much made it into their own failed series. Final Fantasy 12 takes place in the Vagrant Story time line and Final Fantasy 13 they are trying to merge it with the SaGA games.
Remember those crappy Final Fantasy Legend Games on the gameboy? It was really SaGa but they released it with the name Final Fantasy but now the SaGa guy has full control. Anyone remember how bad the last SaGa game was?
EDIT: The problem is the core audience that made the game insanely popular is gone and no longer care for the series. To tell you the truth Final Fantasy games were meant to be different and it has a special something that drew many people and kept the others playing there Action Grind fests or fighting games, now they enjoy Final Fantasy .That's the problem. No longer do you see the massive amount of Final Fantasy fan sites. What once was, that is, no more. VEGO!

So for those who like it, is this like when 12 came out and the internet hated it but it actually did some pretty cool stuff? See because I liked 12 but I'm on the fence about picking up 13. Is it a case of "if you were open to 12 you'll like 13"?
Never played 12, but I have spoken to a huge Final Fantasy fan who as and he seemed to see it as progress from 12. It's got that sort of pseudo-realtime combat system, the monotony of having to run through a bunch of battles ot get back to where you were when you died is gone, still no random battles, I think if you enjoyed 12 you should like 13, the combat is very fun.
I've just now gotten to the point where the game opens up and takes on its sandbox qualities, it's pretty cool. Really allows you to test your party against enemies that are a true test of your abilities (and against enemies that will crush you horribly regardless of your abilities until you level more).

Maybe I'll pick it up sooner than I thought. Thanks for the response by the way.Twitchmonkey wrote...
