Here's a very easy to solution to having a romance for gay men yet not having the game become uncomfortable for certain heterosexual males.

a) Make romance text green or another color aside from red or blue. A heterosexual guy never has to select the green text while speaking to a male squad mate. Make sure the male squad mate does not make the first move.

B) Make the romance dialogue obvious. So there are no misunderstandings. Make sure the male squad mate does not make the first move.

"I want to be more than friends."

"I'm interested in you romantically."

Of course Shepard does not have to say it so bluntly, but obvious romance dialogue like this could lead to the romance with the male squad mate.

Yet homophobes continue to shrug it off when you point out the data that they tend to be gay in greater numbers than non-homophobes.

Denial can be a powerful thing.

Considering homophobia is an invented and nonexistent condition, this makes no sense whatsoever.

Maybe it is real phobia in some cases, but not the vast majority of people who get labelled as homophobes by indoctrinated college students merely for thinking homosexuality is wrong.

homophobia:
  • Fear of or contempt for
    lesbians and gay men.

They can't handle having the choice because they're afraid they will be tempted. You have to understand the struggle these guys go through every day to suppress their gayness.

The codex says that the Asari are an all-female race. Unless Liara herself is an anomaly, she is female by virtue of that. Gender does not have the same meaning for the Asari that it does for humans and other sexually dimorphic races, but that doesn't mean that the relationship with Liara if you're female Shepard isn't lesbian. It definitely is. Liara has a female shape and voice. If femshep is attracted to her, she's lesbian/bisexual/or for some reason attracted to Liara individually.

I agree. I may find them despicable, reprehensible, revolting, diseased, genetically deficient, inferior, disgusting, unnatural, immoral or deviant - but I don't hate them.

Because "hate" is too strong a term, right? /images/forum/emoticons/angry.png

Yet someone say that about say a black person and they do hate black people.

Ah...good old fashioned double standards. /images/forum/emoticons/angry.png

Heck replace that with woman/insert race/insert person here

and all of a sudden its hatred! /images/forum/emoticons/surprised.png Who'd da thunk?

Well , as someone who is black , what JustAnotherVoice another wrote pretty much is hate But I think I'm a bit more tolerable than that. But I mean in the end I can't stop him from thinking that way it's his opinion.

Despite what the codex implies, it is stated numerous times that the Asari aren't actually male or female, but merely resembles females, allowing people to make the mistake you've done.

"Hate" implies murderous rage. I'm thinking more of a "solemn disdain".

Murderous rage, you say?

Hate
–verb (used with
object)1.to dislike intensely or passionately; feel extreme
aversion for or extreme hostility toward; detest: to hate the enemy; to hate bigotry.
2.to be unwilling; dislike: I
hate to do it. –verb (used without object)3.to feel intense dislike,
or extreme aversion or hostility. –noun4.intense dislike; extreme aversion or hostility.
5.the object of extreme aversion or hostility.

"diseased" and "inferior" sound pretty hostile to me. Maybe not in a violent way, but hostile none the less.
