1.) The only Cerberus crew mates you can interact with are Miranda and Jacob. Oh, and Kelly Chambers, who is very, very bisexual. Although I'd rather mark her as "very sexual", since she does not only like females, but also other species as well. Everyone else either doesn't care for Cerberus enough or openly hates them (e.g. Tali or Jack). In this case, same sex romances would even make sense, just to spite Cerberus.
2.) True, but see 1.)
3.) Not true. With the help of a bit of science, two females could procreate. And this is feasible today, without any weird sci-fi tech. Of course, the offspring can only be female, what with the lack of Y-chromosomes here... but still.

As I said, all of the recruitable squad member are given as dossiers from TIM. Thus he chooses who gets to work on the Normandy.
I already said Kelly is an exeption, no one in their right mind would hire someone who have sex with Varrens. We can assume TIM has no idea of Kelly's sexual activities.
Using cloning or science to produce children is a bad thing evolution-wise. It is even written in one of the codex entry. Thus your point is not valid if we keep the future of the human race in mind.

1.) We get those dossiers because they're the best of the best. As Mordin said, Cerberus is desperate. Plus they want to prove that Cerberus is NOT the extremist terrorist group they're made out to be.
2.) Kelly still IS a Cerberus member. She said she has been hand picked, so obviously someone at Cerberus sure didn't mind her open minded views about sexuality. Plus there's no evidence as to who on board actually had sex with Varrens.
3.) You completely lost the point here. This is not cloning. This is artificial insemination taken one step further. The child just will not have a father and a mother, but rather two (biological) mothers. I'm not sure where this would harm evolution. Or be bad for humanity.

very observant that i did not put in the 'gay people feel uncomfortable when the opposite sex chat them up'. The reason was as i am not gay. So i cannot comment on that as i have not experienced it. But yeah you could be right.

Possibly.  As you correctly point out, we don't know.  But, on the other hand, I don't know whether getting chatted up by same-sex characters makes most heterosexual people uncomfortable either.  I only know it makes me (and, I see, you) feel that way.  So, if we're not going to make assumptions about the opposite orientation, we might as well not make assumptions about everyone else who shares our orientation while we're at it.

I guess it's a serious problem for game writers.  On the one hand, people deserve more than just being pigeonholed into various demographics.  On the other hand, if you want to appeal to as many people as possible, a certain amount of that is inevitable.

Your right  about that i found most of your post irrelevant to my post. Just my opinion of course.
Happy to discuss.

Just your opinion, but you are entitled to it.  Nice talking with you!

There are a lot of homophobic ****s out there and while I would support the right to include same sex romances in ME3, it would be implemented terribly if it followed the same logic as ME2. On two seperate playthroughs, I unwillingly got attached to Jack as my LI, just because I talked to her a little too often. Choosing ambiguous paragon options because it was the only option aside from 'I have to go' ended up thrusting her in bed with me while I tried to maintain my faithful Shepard. I completely missed the part where they decided to pursue a relationship, because there was none. No drawing closer to each other, no body language to suggest they were actively interested. The only clue comes from when one option changes from 'I want to know about you' to 'I want to know about us'.

My Shepard isnt gay. And just because I play nice with one of the male crew members should not automatically mean I want to jump in bed with them as ME2 assumed. Plus, initial conversations that poke you down the LI path would be so uncomfortable. Jacob and m!Shep already strike flirtatcious glances and poses opposite each other in the armoury. Any more forceful options, even if Shepard shoots them down quickly, will break the immersion and make future conversations tense. Why? Because as with most heterosexual males, when a guy makes advances on him, I expect their future conversations to be uncomfortable and their friendship to suffer because of it. Not because of being gay, but because of the attraction.

Now, if my concerns are fixable, perhaps with a clearcut flirting option unrelated to the paragon choice, instigated by Shepard and not the proposed LI, then I have no qualms about included it to appease those currently left without a viable love interest. But in all likelihood, they won't alter the conversation wheel at all for ME3, which leads me to suggest we stick with what we've got in terms of romance options.

Anyway, I thought the debate could use a decent explanation from someone who isn't ranting about how gays are evil.

It seems this thread has gotten derailed thanks to some of the less civil people belonging to the pro-same-sex romance group.  These people have been flaming posters with different opinions in the pro thread by calling them trolls and accusing them of not being civil.  Then they come here and do the exact same uncivil thing.  What a bunch of double standard.

It is this type of people that I eventually come to a conclusion that this whole issue has nothing to do with sexuality or equality or whatever social BS some people are throwing out there.  It is all about some selfish interest to look out for your own individual want, and in order to make your voices heard, you go out of your way to annoy, offend, and flame others with a slightest of different opinion than you.

Absolutely pathetic if you ask me.

I prefer the traditional "boy meets girl" or "girl meets boy" relationships in my media as opposed to same-sex relationships.

For the record, I support LBGT and all that. I'm bi.

But this has me rolling on the floor laughing.

If you don't want your Shepard to be gay, then don't romance characters of the same gender. If they start getting a bit too friendly with you for your liking, just say "thanks, but no thanks." An awkward line or two of dialogue later, and everything will be back to normal. But don't cut out the option to romance characters of the same gender for the rest of us. That makes us sad :(

So the main anti-gay person in this thread is an admitted and self-professed Naz i, and I get the facepalm for saying it's not a stretch to imagine that homophobes are usually racist?

Illogical.

You said they're demonizing people different from them. Aren't you doing the exact same thing by claiming that homophobes are also very likely racist?
You took two unrelated negative attributes of mankind, and mashed them together in people who think differently from you.

That said, I support the adition of gay romances in 3. Or would, if I wouldn't be so tired of seeing "OMG, WE WANT GAY ROMANCES" threads.

And then before you know it, there'd be a "join us in the fight against the group against the group against same-sex romance," and so on and so forth.

That would be a never ending chain of groups against groups. We would clog the site. XD

If BioWare would force romance not as much and allow for other ways to talk with NPCs then this debate would be even more redundant then it is already.

Romance has become an obvious game mechanic as walking arround with your character. It should be less in your face and more like an extra achievement for commited roleplayers.

No.

If they have time to make completely new sets of dialog just for 1% of the population then they need to use that time and effort to add more standard dialog or heterosexual platonic option.

Seeing how lazy Bioware is when it comes to dialog I don't see hem straying from the "being amicable with the opposite sex equals romance or, if not romantic, dialog deadend" template that all opposite sex conversations follow. Forget gay dialog. We don't even have platonic heterosexual dialog.

That's fair. I'd have no problem with that.

Dunno if I'd shoot a guy out the airlock if I was in your shoes, I'd probably just say "No, I prefer chicks to dicks," and go about my day.

Well maybe you'll get your strictly-friends dialogue, we'll get our gay dialogue, everyone else gets straight dialogue, and everybody can all be happy?
