Most of you seem to think homosexuality is a matter of genetics.

In the ME universe genetic modification is pretty damn common, so don't you think by the year 2183 homosexuality and other genetic disorders will have been removed?

That's actually quite true. If I remember my Mass Effect history correctly, there was a time when genetic modification was starting to run rampant, so one can assume that homosexuality simply was phased out along with most genetic diseases and disorders.

Didn't they make genetic modification illegal or limited in the ME universe though?

Fact
-Shepard isn't gay

Get over it.

Adding gayness to ME would be a waste of time and resources to please a very small group of whiners. Toughen up. If you want gaymances go hang out with Zevran.

I don't play Mass Effect solely for the romance but it is a nice addition that adds immersion to the whole story.  There are plenty of straight and gay players that play the game in the same manner.  They enjoy the game and the romances are an added piece of immersion to the whole game.

People can keep saying that Male Shep is Canon shep but Femshep is still in the game so for Bioware to release a game that only allows Female Shep to pursue a relationship or fling with a woman, is quite unfair.  I'm not saying Bioware is homophobic or idiots but I would really like to know why they decided to do this.  We will only get that reason from Bioware and we might not ever.  The fight for the love team created the group and discussion topic so that we could have constructive discussion on why we would like to have s/s romances in the game.  They basically did the same thing as anyone who has ever posted a thread about something they would like to have.  This goes for the Tali thread, the mass effect 1 romances thread, Miranda thread and thousands of other threads.  Are you going to say that they are whiners too??

The fact of the matter is and this has been stated numerous times....

Those of you that do not want same sex romance in your games, simply do not have to pick the dialogue option that would lead to a gay romance.  In our thread we have discussed maybe having color coded dialouge options or a very blatant dialogue option such as when FemShep has the option to choose the "I want you Thane" dialogue option.  It's all that simple.  You would never have to see a Gay Shepard and in turn feel uncomfortable.

This is my opinion and I'm not here to judge anyone.  Does anyone have any constructive thoughts on this?

I believe the codex states limits were imposed, so you don't get people like Miranda everywhere (which is a shame because she is hot), but apparently genetic diseases and disorders are removed.

And just listen to the people in one of the Citadel stores, apparently you can browse for some genetic modifications.

I think you're onto something, Varenus Luckmann.

As for those arguing with the OP: go back to Fight For The Love's discussion board, because this is OUR thread. Bickering won't get you anywhere in the world, much less here.

Someone doesn't know much about Mass Effect. Security chief Hendal Mitra is openly gay.

Hmmm . . . I'll bet the "homosexuality gene" (if such a thing exists) was a huge debate in the politics of the time . . .

If the game is anything to go by then they left it unchanged. (if it exists)

Yeah, but by that time, most deficiencies, disorders and diseases should have been phased out. It would take many generations of uninhibited procreation before widespread genetic issues would become measurable again. And as far as I know, there are still many legal genetic modifications for a wide variety of diseases.

There is cause for concern on these forums and we need your help, join us in the fight against the people who want gay romance in mass effect. do you want your shepard to be hit on by other men, do you want shepard hitting on men, do you want to even feel that disgusting feeling have having a squadmate look at you in "that" way, if not join us to stop these gay people who do, we dont even want bioware to even think of considering putting a gay romance or gay squad mate in Mass Effect 3. if you want to STOP this from happening join us. link to group is below. heteros must unite and hold the line!

http://social.bioware.com/group/1635

Just a suggestion, you should look at this at a different point of view. From the view of the gay/lesbian gamers where they don't want their shepard hitting on women/men, or not wanting their shepard being hit on by women/men, or having a squadmate look at shepard in "that" way. Try not to be so narrow minded and (no offense) selfish in your arguments.

Race vs Same-sex , theirs alot of similarities between the two but there's also alot differences. If the argument is gays should be looked at as a race held back I disagree on some of it.

On gay being a disorder , I hate to say it but it does seem like a disorder. If in the future one could alter a baby to not want to be gay , it's very possible that same sex would be wiped out.

Just thinking about it.......

This is a discussion forum though and as long as everyone keeps it civil then anyone should discuss why or why not they want s/s romances.  In the pro s/s forum we do not ban people who are against s/s romance to post.  It's only when any hate remarks are thrown out is when we report.  I agree that the pro s/s people need to stop with posting any gay pics on here or name calling but again...civil discussion.

I don't even know who Hendal Mitra is, and he/she/it doesn't even have a Wiki entry.

That said, I suppose it is possible that isolated parts of Earth never experienced the genetic uplift. For all we know, in the Mass Effect universe, homophilia has nothing to do with genetics at all.

Everything boils down to genetics.

This is extremely interesting, once you start studying identical twins.

Obviously a large portion of the population in ME is genetically modified to remove diseases and defects. If this alone did not neutralize homosexuality in the human population, it would certainly be much much rarer.

If it is genetic, won't homosexuality breed itself out? (EV-A-LOO-SHUN) so you shouldn't hate gay people! they're endangered! we need a breeding program here people!

I am now pro gay/anti lesbian. that way I get all t3h ch1x!!!

A review by Dr. Bruce Bagemihl documented homosexual behaviour in 1500 animal species, and presents evidence that it is common in around 500 of them. This included same-sex partners in several species adopting abandoned young and raising them. Bagemihl argues that sex fulfills a number of socially important roles (such as fostering group cohesion) besides reproduction in the animal kingdom, and that homosexuality makes sense from an evolutionary standpoint.

The U.S. Supreme Court cited this work when they struck down the Texas sodomy law in 2003 as evidence that homosexual behaviour is a natural occurence.

I don't think there's anything on "sharing thoughts" or "creating languages", but in studies, identical twins seperated at birth have been shown to have amazing similarities, despite growing up in seperate social and economic circles - down to being fans of the same football teams, voting on the same parties, being employed in the same line of work, and naming their dogs the same name.

You can't stop someone from wanting to hate.As much as I don't like the way a gay person is I don't hate them.
