The warriors are walking away with the Most Interesting Companions so far. Howe might counter that some, but Justice is awesome.
First party, assuming all companions are available for the whole campaign:
Cuthlan (human noble 2h warrior)
Justice
Mhairi (will rotate out for Howe depending on need)
Anders
Second:
Kenden (dalish elf rogue)
Velanna
Oghren or Mhairi (depending on how much I used Mhairi in the first party)
open spot. Whoever fits at the time.

My DW Dwarf Rogue has Sten, Archer Leil and Morrigan. I figure I will keep that trend for Awakenings. Go with Oghren, Howe (who will probably be more of an archer then Sigrun) and whichever mage I like better. I spec my mages to do both healing and helpful spells (sleep, paralyze, etc.), if not AoE later.
My second playthrough will be using my mage in place of Morrigan, so I will go Justice and Mhiari with Sigrun. I am hoping that either Justice or Mhiari (one or the other) starts with dual wield while one does sword and board. Otherwise a respec is in order.
My third playthrough will be me as a human noble 2hander, so I will go whichever rogue is better at archery, one dual wielder (either rogue or warrior is fine) and one mage, specced same as before.

With my mage, Mhairi will be in my party, rest i swap and change to find out more about them better.
When on my 2nd char who's a warrior, respec Mhairi for dps, and have atleast one of the mage's as healer, other spot random.

My lineup:
Warrior (S/S, Champion, Templar, Reaver [when i can get 3]).
Sigrun (Assassin, Ranger)
Anders (Spiritual Healer)
Velanna (Spiritual Healer)
Both casters will be primarily healers while warrior tanks and rogue rips them apart.
Where is the info on Nathaniel Howe? I can't find it anywhere.

I don't really know because I never get all teh charatchers I allways kill one or two or leva e1 behind... But I guess my party would be::
Me ( Citty Elf ROugue archer ) [Assassin, Ranger, Shadow]
Vellana - I like her Spirit, and her strenght and upponh all her hate for humans that try to turn elves into their slaves.
Nathalien Warrior- I is my type of charatcher, Dark, Lonely, CAn't be bossed around, and he seems pretty quick and don't really like slow charatchers.
Mhairi/ Justice - I hadn't decided yet ( they are both on the good side what I don't really like I've got to see wich one is less good so when I make my dark decisions it won't start pissing me off with moral speeches ).
I guess if both of the charatchers are way inside the good side, I'll use Oghren.

I really wanted to use Oghren. He's one of my favorites from Origins. But then Justice was revealed. :< I have a thing for Undead Warriors. I'm hoping given his special background and apparent connection to a main villain, we get him a bit later into the expansion and Oghren a bit earlier, so that my old friend can see the light of day. If not, I blame David Gaider to pandering to the badass undead character loving audience.
That being said--
Human Noble Warrior (ditched Leliena to marry Anora, executed Alistair, then did the Dark Ritual himself, hail to the King, baby). 2H Templar/Reaver/Spirit Warrior.
Justice. Respecced to Dual Wield, Spirit Warrior/Reaver/Champion. Between the two Warriors, so much AoE!
Howe. I prefer to bring a Rogue, and he seems pretty cool so far, plus irresistable drama given my PC's Origin.
And one of the Mages. Leaning Anders, but I'm willing to give Velanna a chance to grow on me.

Warriors
Me, Myself and I ( Either DW or 2h tank, depending on the aoe balancings. )
My class' will be Templar, Champion and Beserker. Untill i unlock and read over the new class'.
Rogues
Sigrun (plain dps)
Mages
Velanna ( Healer since thats what i picture keepers )
Anders ( Dps, since that how i picture apostates)
All through origins i did 2 warriors, 1 mage and 1 ranger rogue. but that was due to my chars RP attachments to the core party members. So since i dont really know these guys i am going to try something which centre my char as the punch bag hero with some sick dps companions.

1. Me
2. Other gimps in the camp xD
P.S. But I also may try triple arcane warriors with x3 miasma, haste and frost-fire-tele weapon + probably some new passive damage auras if I'd like to skip combat altogether

Well...
Sigrun would make the most sense as a rogue, since she's lived a hard life and is described as a 'survivor'. So I'm guessing she already has lockpicking skills. (Although, I guess with that book thing, it doesn't really matter, does it?)
Justice as the warrior tank. I'm guessing he is already a spirit warrior (forget the specialization name), and they look awesome. Plus, he has no idea what's good or bad, so it would be easy to convince him what I'm doing is right. (Although, I usually am good.)
Valenna as the healer. She's elven, right? They're good at magic. Plus, she hates humanity, so if I wanted to get some achievements, it would probably gain her approval if I hurt some people. (Sounds like Morrigan...)
And... Myself, a mage. I have other non-mages, too, but I prefer magic-users.

Wouldnt it be great if in DA2 they crossed games and gave you a companion with the second name Shepard and it was your ME characters ancestor
Doubt it though...
