What do YOU want from DA2?

2. Side quests that are more than the generic "go here, kill these people/get this item" quests dispensed from all the job boards in the game. Some big side quest chains like the De'Arnise Keep, Windspear Hills, or Trademeet from BG2 would be great.
3. More depth to the skill trees. I'd like to see each skill line be longer, with more interconnection between branches.
4. Specializations that enhance class abilities, instead of adding a completely new dynamic. I felt like some of the specializations were very good (duelist, assassin, arcane warrior), whereas some were pretty useless. It would be nice to have specializations that enhance existing class abilities, instead of tacking a tiny bit of new stuff on the top.
5. More depth to the main storyline. The story had great breadth, but if you were doing the minimum required to get to the end of the game, there are only a handful of quests and no real twists in the main plot. For example, in BG2 the main enemy stole your soul, and then was revealed to be a former elf and the revelation of his identity was a big surprise in the game. In Kotor you turned out to be the dark lord of the sith, who wouldn't known? There are no such twists in DA.
6. I know this might never happen again, but I'd love to see the 6 or 8 man party make a comeback.

2: spears, polearms, knuckles whatever. The weapon selection is really bad in DAO. Pikes are even mentioned in the game, but make no appearance.
3: better looking robes. Actually, scratch that, NO MORE ROBES. I'm SICK of ever mage wearing a friggin' dress wherever he goes. At the very least an option to customize your armor/clothing to suit your tastes so that we can disable the dress.
4: less ugly headwear. Speaks for itself.
5: specialized specializations. When you hear the term specialization, you tend to think this is going to be a big part of what you focus on. All it really does is give you a couple spells or skills that give you a brand new dynamic. And maybe instead of having to have two of them, which eliminates the point of them being specializations, you could invest that second point in your current specialization, and unlock new and better skills for that spec.
6: more origins/races: humans get one origin unique to them while the other races get two, plus the human one is kinda cliche. Mages only get one origin as well, and it's boring as hell. For the love of the internet, give us something more exiting to do if we're human/magical. Also, Qunari or some new human-sized creature would be cool.
7: more chances to blur the line in classes: Spell swords are my favorite thing ever, and my only way of doing that is becoming some autoattack monkey with impenetrable defences. It sounds tempting for the defences, but I'd much rather have something I could be doing in combat. Plus, why can't the warrior or the rogue do something to maek it seem more sneaky/magey? Maybe take a note from mass effect and have classes with points in both combat and magic/combat and stealth/stealth and magic?
8: one handed weapon style/reduce handle size on greatswords. The longsword looks like it would be nice to fight with, but somehow struggling with ambidexterity is infinately more efficient. Same with lugging around what the character acts like is a ton of bricks or a sheet of metal on their arm. Why can't you keep an open hand and still kick ass? it would certainly be a lot easier to learn. Also, unarmed style.

2) More interactions between companions and NPCs in the party, camp and in dialogs with NPCs. Like the conversation between Zevran and Dulin where Zevran plainly says that Harrowmont would make a weak king because he can't even control his people. Or like Sten challenging the MC to a duel.
3) Make certain areas harder or impossible to complete with a low level character. In DA:O&A wherever you go the enemies are the same level no matter what level the MC is. But don't make the game into a linear piece, player should have a choice where to go.
4) Improve the role of rogues in the party. in DA:O&A rogues are mainly chest openers. Where did all the deadly traps and hidden doors go? Maybe make a "Set Trap" skill for the rogues like in BG2. Give rogues the ability to not only disable traps but also collect or reset them. Make the lock picking ability more "understandable". In DA:O you can encounter chests that are impossible to pick even when the character has all 4 pick locks skills. What happened to the good old method of bashing the chest? I'm sure Shale could open a locked chest in no time. I don't want to locked chest problem to be solved like in NWN but make it more realistic and believable. Perhaps shift the focus to locked door/traps/hidden zones? Destructible/Lockable doors would be a good addition too.
5) Improve crafting (or disable completely). a lesser health pounce costs 1 silver, whereas making one costs 1 silver and 57 coppers. (flask+elven root). I never paid much attention to crafting in DA:O&A because it's just more expensive to make stuff (not to mention buying recipes) nor does those items help in the game which is very easy even on nightmare difficulty.
6) Make DA:O2 much more difficult.
7) Increase party size to 5 or 6.
8) Less pointless areas. Let me explain - in Redcliff there's a house with a boy in the cupboard. In that house there are stairs leading to a small room with a bookcase and chest. It's a separated area from the rest of the house. What's the point in making this small area when it can be easily made as part of the original house? Such pointless locations should be brought to a minimum.
9) More areas with open spaces. Most areas in DA:O are in the form of tunnels. Make areas where people can walk around, attack a hostile group from another angle and not being blocked by fences and bushes. Areas in DA:A were better in that sense.
10) Redesign and add new weapons. Daggers should not look like short swords.
11) The "tell them what they want to hear" system has got to go. I'm sure everyone agrees that when speaking with a companion they choose the dialog option the companion wants to hear. One way (perhaps not the best way) to solve this is to make some dialogs with one companion effect others as if they heard what you said.
12) In the character creator make a list of changes like in photoshop.
13) Give the MCs names so NPC may refer to them by names and not by Grey Warden or Warden.
Keep all the good stuff that make DA:O great. Solid MC and companion origin stories, romance possibilities, companion side-quests (killing Flemeth, finding Sten's sword etc.), strong and interesting main story with lots of twists influenced by the choice of the MC made throughout the game. Make some interesting side quests with location (not just a spot in the woods with wolves or darkspawn).
Something I'd like to see byt I'm not getting my hopes up.
The DA:O storyline is amazing but what I'd really like to see are choices that would not only effect the location (mages' tower, Orzammar) but the main character as well. For example, the main character may request Caradin to make him into a golem, be infected by werewolves or invite a demon and become an abomination to enhance his power. Grey Wardens do anything to beat the blight so such options would not be unreasonable. (in the golem option the warden loses his body and thus can't kill the archdemon, however the MC only learns this from Riordin, after he destroys the anvil of the void) As the result of any such choice the MC would have to fight his inner demon (or inner golem) to remain in control (solo quests). This, of course would drastically alter the main story/companion relations/npc relations. Perhaps such choices can be made before the final battle.

1) PLEASE make a button that would collect all loot from fallen opponents without clicking on the corpses. (options to setup the button - collect everything, collect only coins and potions etc.)
Fine, as long as they go to some sort of virtual container from which I can pick and choose what to actually keep, rather than just filling up the inventory automatically.
Make the lock picking ability more "understandable". In DA:O you can encounter chests that are impossible to pick even when the character has all 4 pick locks skills.
Inadequate cunning. This is just a request for a better tooltip on the skill.

The point of crafting isn't to make things cheaper, it's to give you more stuff than you would otherwise have. Your problem is the difficulty, not the crafting.

Terrible, terrible idea.
The rest were pretty good, though.

edit: keep entering the fade to a small amount like in awakening, not the huge thing it is in origins. the fade is ok, but when it goes on too long it gets a little old.

I just don't understand, why we want DA2, instead of an other expansion? Version 2 of something imply new controls, battle system, new bugs and many many other unknowns. While expansion, BW can focus on new content and killing bugs -- since the house already is built, now BW can just full it up and touch the paint here and there. Do we really need a new house? The current house only used less then 3 months!
i want an expansion too. i am greedy like that. i'm hopeful 2/1/11 is an expansion, but i know the sequel is just as likely. in an ideal world, 2/1/11 is the second expansion and and late 2011 or early 2012 is when da2 comes out.

Hmm....
WELL...I would love more of those wonderful character interactions with each other and with the main player, of course, oh and more wonderful romance options!
Much better clothes and armour choices especially for us lady players!! Even a clothes shop in Denerim or whichever town there is where we could go to stock up on really nice gear some for fighting in and some for just looking good when we have to meet the king or have a romantic chat with our chosen hero!<3
Oh and magic wands and swords in a range of colours and styles to match what we are wearing too! Oblivion Goddess shop had that idea!
I would like a character creator that incorporates all the great hair and eye and face mods we have already, thats so much fun making characters!
More of the same type of missions and humour! I love humour in games, (Shale and Oghren yay for them!!) romance and always I love a HAPPPY ENDING!! (hehe)
But what the developers did with Dragon age I have never experienced in another game; it became so incredibly immersive and exciting that I just had to play and replay over and over....if they can pull off more of the same then they will be doing brilliantly!!
I just can't wait to see what they will come up with next! (But don't forget my clothes wish please)
I somewhat agree, I did like that in Awakening, you could have noble robes if you ransacked a certain womans body hahaa
And I honestly don't think i would want a pink and purple sword taking heads off darkspawn, thats just ridiculous.
But I wish the console version had a better selection of tattoos, makeup, hair, etc., and that the accesories you equipped would show.
Maybe in the new expansion, DA2 (whichever they decide to come out next) they could have the conversations like they did in Origins? I don't like that I can't have the options whenever I want to strike up a conversation with Anders, Nathaniel, or anyone else.
Oh well, I guess it's up to Bioware(:

Fixing the first game would be a good start.
I completley agree. I'm sick and tired of my character running around in attack mode with no weapon in her hand, and I'm also VERY sick of my armor magically disappearing during movie sceens.

Terrible, terrible idea.
I guess you died a little inside every time someone referred to your Human Noble as a 'Cousland?' Because that's a name forced upon your character.
fail.
Also fail is the 'kiss their rear for approvement points' bit. It would be better if approval was hidden from the player, and your companions were less obviously 'DO GOOD THINGS AND I APPROVE" a la Alistair and Wynne. No more pure goody tooshy characters, thanks.

Maybe I misunderstood the post, which I thought was using pregenerated first names as well as last names. If it was only about using the existing last names, I've got no problem with that. If anything, I prefer having a defined family.
But if it was about using a defined first name, I stand by my judgment.

More facial expressions from the player character. Too often he just looks like a zombie.
More "unique" dialog options. Such as beating the crap out of an annoying bartender, kicking or giving a coin to a beggar, and so forth. I want to be able to act like an arrogant noble. "Show some respect bar wench!"
Visiting somewhere out of Ferelden would be nice.
Some better looking armor. Most of the robes and leather armor looked rather lousy in my opinion.

It would be boring to have all your companions have the same moral structure "or lack off", don't you think? I want more complex characters, who don't always agree and can't be swayed by some of your actions.
I hope David Gaider creates a megalomaniac character, who grabs the PC by the balls and demands everyone does things his/her way. He/she should be loved by everyone in Thedas and all the companions should fall under his/her spell. Wouldn't that be interesting? "tongue-in-cheek"
I doubt the DA writers will create a group of androids, who follow all your orders and who never question your decisions in the next installment of DA. Some people just want to control everything, maybe they should consider a God simulation game instead of an RPG?

I don't know about swimming coz we'll likely see swimming warriors wearing massive plates
However, climbing can be made into a cool ability for light armored rogues which would give them a sort of ambush/pounce ability. You know, jump from a tree and drive a sword into your opponent causing devastating damage. The only problem with this is that DA combat mechanics don't actually involve ambushing opponents. You're always rushing towards the enemy head on.

I doesn't seem right that buying a potion is cheaper than making one yourself. Making a potion yourself should be cheaper, unless there's a massive potion production plant in Ferelden that's making millions of health and lyrium potions every day
I'm not insisting on disabling crafting thou, if people enjoy it then let them craft away. Maybe make more crafting-based side quests? Or make crafting skills affect the main quest in some way, say offer an alternative solution to a problem?
True. The game is easy enough even on nightmare difficulty to go without crafted items. The only time I used bombs was when my archer dueled Loghain. I did like that in DA:A we had to craft powerful runes instead of just finding/buying them.
Terrible, terrible idea
I agree that this idea was not very good. Recording dialogs with assigned MC names (first names or last names) would be a lot of hard work and it'll probably be a waste of time. But an occasional mention of your name would be nice. Parts of the dialog where NPCs ask your name but still call you Grey Warden no matter what you answer should not be made thou.
"- You can call me Alim
- As you wish Grey Warden..."

More exploration in open country...like in Oblivion. Trek up mountains to find a relic or 10. Meet the mountain guardians....huge monsters like ogres that we can fight with.
Swamps would be cool too as Grukar mentioned.
More meaningful side quests....not silly ones like the get rid of 3 bodies in Denerim.
A bigger inventory.
Better damage spells...flying darts....whirlwind... etc.

2. Return of old companions like Leliana, Morrigan and Zevran
3. Moving to Orlais
4. See the story shift from Darkspawn to something else.
5. For my romance from Origins to carry over

If you ask me what i expect from DOA2 its pretty simple:
A long at least 60 hour gameplay for main quest (70 hour on REAL hard mode).
Since itsa known not open gameworld , character depth and conversation with followers and npcs has to be extended to a new, unique level..
Sidequests adding another 10hrs of gameplay
No rushed release ...flifla**** EA when putting pressure on
Water Salt and Pepper is there for the best ever rpg soup ....up to BW
