What level do you plan on reaching?
Personally for me, leveling has always been what makes a good RPG a great RPG.
That and alllll the Phat lewtz it has to offer.

There's no level cap, and developpers expect most of the player to be between 18/22.

If you want to power level and spend time farming monsters, well, you can, but I'd rather play quests and go through the plot.

So I plan on level 20

I'm not really planning on anything level wise. If I think I'm at an adequate level to fight through the end of the game, and I've done enough side quests to satisfy me, I'll move on towards the final bosses, regardless of my current level. If I don't think I'm ready, I'll tolerate some grinding, though that's not particularly fun for me.

Basically Chris Priestly's dwarven character is level 22 because he has said that he has accomplished everything the game had to offer for that run. The developers have said that most wont be reaching level 20 on their first play through.

Starting to think that Rilan is an alt of whatsisname, Flameboy.

Assuming that enemy level is capped, as I believe is the case, and that XP gain is tied to the difference between your level and the enemy's level... they don't NEED to cap the player's level.

It will simply be very, very tedious to get to a level much over 22, with no reward for doing that whatsoever... since the loot drops will not level with you either.

Really, assuming you're serious about this and not a troll, I would again recommend a game like Torchlight instead. That has no player level cap, an infinite (or functionally infinite, more than 2 billion levels) dungeon, and loot and enemies which will keep up with you as you level.

I am sure there will be user made mods for lvl 20+, there isn't really any reason to grind on mobs for 100 hours after you exhaust the OC's quests.

That was insulting..

I don't type like a petulant child, and I don't jump to conclusions like a teenager in heat.

I'll be whatever level I can reach by doing all of the side quests that I possibly can. I'm just glad there is no cap(at least, an easily obtainable one) because it always bugged me when I hit the max level before I'm finished with the game(KotOR, Baldur's Gate plus SoA without ToB come to mind).

so... will there be static mob spawns to grind on? if you feel like gaining an extra level or two before facing that next big burly monster?

It depends on if there is an achievement associated with level gain. If they do achievements like ME, there were definite benefits to grinding to hit them.

Achievements don't have in-game benefits, just FYI.

I think their is a mixture of preplaced monsters along with random spawn points. I cannot remember if you hit random monsters if you travel with the overland map. Anyone know?

I believe that the majority of monsters don't respawn.

I assume my first will be the most exhaustive, but I may inadvertently close doors or miss opportunities that Chris may have known otherwise. I also wonder, though, if Chris' character had gone through the DLCs (perhaps Stone Prisoner, but maybe not Warden's Keep).

In any case, perhaps 21 or even 22, depending on a few things. I certainly will not grind though and I really don't mind if I top off earlier (18-20) as the game reaches its climax.. though I imagine, I may begin to revisit areas and investigate every corner and nook if I am feeling I'm missing out on things.

The game also scales with you to a degree, so grinding accomplishes literaly nothing but killing time. If that's all you want to grind for though... then yes there are random encounters at least.

I'll play through for story and exploration the first couple of playthroughs...I don't have any idea what level I'll get to. If I want to see what it's like to play an uber duber god like character I''ll most likely just cheat one up.
