Grunt -> Biotic?

I do not understand why grunt is not a biotic.
I'm going to push past the "there are too many biotic squadmates" argument (I feel Thane and Jacob should not be biotics but thats an argument for another day) and also for a moment throw practicality in gameplay into the wind and speak purely in terms of plot.
I know that if i were making a krogan super soldier i would sure as heck make him a biotic so I don't understand why a krogan scientist wouldn't have done this. From a game making perspective I suppose Bioware was probably just trying to make another krogan that is distinct from Wrex and i can get behind that but i can't shake the feeling that he should be a biotic. What are everyone else's thoughts on this? Am I alone?

Grunt is made to be pure Krogan. Perhaps pure Krogan don't get biotics because biotic Krogan were exposed to eezo or something. I don't know.
I like Grunt the way he is as a mega tank.

Story wise I think his name is a big clue. Okeer describes him as a Grunt, which to me means a follower, one of the rank and file, a pure meat head. I believe the only Krogan biotics are the Battle Masters which are the leaders of the Krogan (of which Wrex is the perfect example), maybe Okeer wanted to be the leader of his new breed of Krogans, or maybe the 'perfect' Battle Master would be his next experiment, hell maybe he saw what Wrex was achieving and just wanted to provide him with the perfect followers.

Maybe it's not that easy to just make someone a biotic. Only rare individuals get the biotic effects from exposure to element zero in the brain; perhaps it is not known why some individuals survive and others don't. Also, being able to use biotics in a useful manner requires lots of intensive training, and Grunt couldn't have been doing that training in the tank.
Point taken. I guess we would have to know more about how biotic ability comes about in krogan.

I imagine that Okeer was making so many Krogan that he wouldn't want his prized Krogan to have to die under surgery, especially if hes committing all his resources on getting the gentics right.

And besides when I think Krogan, the last thing I think of is biotics, trust me. These guys are large scary beasts, not spell casters. I always thought it was strange and out of character that Wrex had biotics.

Presumably, krogans are not (just like humans) inherently biotic.

Biotics powers are just mass effect fields and like mass effect drives it's the current (and voltage/resistance, ohms law blah, blah) that determines the extent, so the average brain can't generate the needed currents without an amp.

Didn't the Krogan discontinue the practice of making biotic Krogan because of the high risk complications?
Unlikely. In the first game, there is a convo in the elevator between Kaidan and Wrex where Wrex says Krogans would never upgrade their biotics to L3's because of the decreased damage output. Health concerns and comfort do not seem to be a priority to krogan.

Didn't it say in the codex that biotics need to consume extra nutrition?

Most of the awesomest krogan are biotics. Skarr, Wrex, and Guld are perfect examples.

actually, Krogan doesn't have biotic shield. they have poweful shield like fortification. when you finish grunt loyalty mission, next time you bring him in war. his amor is glowing. it's kind of fortification shield which is very powerful.
No, pretty much every krogan boss you encounter has a biotic barrier. Of course Grunt wouldn't have that, since he's not a biotic.

My understanding is that they can have "natural biotics" (In the sense that they develop without any deliberate intervention), but that they can also perform surgery to give biotics to those who don't develop them.Atmosfear3 wrote...
I believe it is said somewhere in the codex that Krogans require surgical procedures (with a high mortality rate) to make them biotic, so no I don't believe they are naturally biotics. All Asari have biotics and we've seen in the cerberus news feed there are even have biotic animals.
The reason Grunt isn't, IMO, is because Biotics involve the development of Eezo nodules within the body. He's a pure, perfect Krogan, and Biotics essentially have benign tumours. They may give considerable advantages, but they're still an abnormality.

Nearly all krogan bosses in the game are biotics.Grunt should have at least warp.
