very much so. the whole mage itemisation is still either weak or ugly looking. I found a pretty nice bloodmage robe but it looks like a tavern wenchs nightgown, i cant possibly wear that, so i stick with my red tevinter robe from the alienage.Ahzrei wrote...
Something I gotta know... Mage Hats: are they still retarded?
btw. did i read correctly, the inability to import items/skills/spells from prior dlc is not a bug but intended and will never come? now that really sucks. i want my bloodbolt back, damnit!
I'd like to use the opportunity to adress a few other issues in awakening. first of all, the lack of romancing seems to bother a lot of people. I'd like to add that although the approval system is still in place, you cant have discussions with your party members back in camp or anytime you want anymore. instead you can click on certain objects on certain places in the world and a context sensitive discussion will be started with the appropriate party member. that's different but i kinda like it. the only problem is you'll probably miss a lot of the dialogue because you have to go everywhere with each character. but i can assure you the dialogue is as good as it was in origins and the characters are very cool and aimable.
the main story on the other side is not very exciting I have to admit, and I'm about 5 hours in the game, but i did mainly sidequests so far. it just lacks some of that good old epicness, it feels much more like a clean up of the main game.
the new specialisations can only be bought in stores and that very early in the game, and I have to say the new mage specs are not that good. (i want the bloodbolt back btw)
combat, as i have already stated is still very much the same. i have to say, dragon age origins had the best combat system I have ever seen in an rpg and i play the genre since the early ultimas and might and magics. but after the 8593rd group of thugs and hurlocks i have just seen it, honestly. but I'm still hoping for some exciting boss battles à la flemeth or uldred.
well, thats if for now, i'm gonna get justice now, i'm really looking forward to meeting him.
if you have any questions and can endure my english feel free to ask.
btw. i want my bloodbold back, i really miss it.
No more camp chat?
And i can resist no more! How does Alistair take it if you are the queen, does he see you as one? <_<
Thanks in advance.

mage hats are still sill....but not silly enough!
there are some new weapons skins, but armor skins ive found are pretty much just recolourd or slightly altered
the game is nice BUT - you clearly feel it is an expansion as it develops way faster if you call that "hasted"... nevertheless, the rune crafting keeps you quite busy for some time...others then that it is clearly shorter then origins.... it is clearly the worse price-performance relation then origins, at least for me, origins you play (depending on how fast you play) around 40-60 hours and was 70 bucks for me, awakening im expecting around 20 hours (estimation) for 50 bucks...

You can also talk to them in camp, but not all the time. There will be a quest arrow over them when they have something to say (at least it happened for me with one of them).
Outside of camp, there are only the context-sensitive dialogues.

Thank you so much, this was exactly what I was waiting to hear. I hope they drop the price soon or I happen across forty bucks on the street.

Hmmm... not sure I like the sound of that. DAO had the dialogues pretty well done, I don't think they needed to tweak the dialogue system much- maybe its more of a cost cutting measure since its an expansion?
In your opinion, does that new dialogue system negatively affect the how much you can get to know the new companions? Or how do you like it compared to Origins?

the banter is really nice - my recommendation keep howe, oghren and anders for some time in the party...thats hillarious
not at all, i actually like it better - because the dialogue always happens within a certain context that enlights the background of the character - there are a lot of opportunities to talk - there are even some quests related to that, at least one, that i screwed up or at least didnt figure out how yet...
i think there is also more "on the way" dialogue and banter between characters then in origins which also helps wich character development...
ps: if you go to blackmarsh - bring your lightning resistance with you ;-)

Personally, I don't have a problem with this system. There is still a lot of dialogue with each companion, the only difference is that the player has less control over when the dialogue is taking place.

so guys, all mod items doesnt carry over right?
Thats what a dev said in an interview. Kind of lame, but since they are giving out new gear like candy it doesnt matter. I am more concerned about special abilities from wardens keep. They were supposed to transfer over ok, but I heard there are issues with it.

it has its up and down sides, but in the end, i guess there is less dialogue and therefore you wont get to know your companions as good as in DAO, but DAO was a 70 hours game and awakening only 15 hours, so i think its really a good solution. the context sensitive dialogues make a lot of sense.
btw. the blackmarsh part of the main quest i just finished was fantastic, in no way worse than the mage tower or the red keep of origins.

If I was in your shoes, I would have raised a stink til they sold it to me.
I would have demanded to see the store manager and then I would have spouted out accusation terms like "false advertizing" and "bait & switch". The bottom line is that they had it out on display for you to pick up. At that point, it's THEIR mistake. You can't just put product out on the shelf and then NOT let a customer buy it.
