I can't wait for tomorrow, i hope that the exp pack will be equaly good that DA:O. I never like it that almost all of the old companions disappear, i expect at least that they reappears like npc, but wtf, i have faith that the exp will be good.

I don't know why ppl love so much duncan o.o .The guy died nearly in the beginning of the game, why so much scandal for him? You didn't use him, you talk with him how much? 10 minutes? Nothing important. The guy is dead, R.I.P. End of story.
I don't now either. Maybe because this guy had a cool badass looking armor we can't find anywhere else in the game without mods (and beard and haircut too) ? I mean, the only reason why i could want to find him, dead or alive, is to take his armor.

You know, I never thought about that. He did have pretty nifty armor.

@feraele there have been some answered questions though some have been misinterpreted including myself i picked up a post of david gaiders wrongly and he replied to my post but read it wrong also so maybe devs dont always answer questions unless they think the question is a really good 1 that hasnt been asked to often so it stands out more so but it is good of the devs that do answer our questions to take the time to do so
Well if a question gets asked several times over with no response, you kind of have to wonder why its being avoided in the first place.
And the longer it goes on..the more it fuels negative speculation.
I read the FAQ and I was present at the Live Chat, basically because I really want to know..about certain things.
Silence..and ongoing silence doesn't curb the desire to know. I think in the one case in particular..it had to do with not wanting to say, due to possible loss of sales.
Now I see folks ..reading a couple of reviews from the end-users, and making the decision not to buy.
I have to say that..with all the long silences, on a few issues, that the silence does more harm than good.
Personally I have gone from very upbeat about the new expansion..to feeling like.."whatever ..I bought the damned thing..guess I'll play it".

From the earliest bioware games, there has always been improvements in the technology and presentation of games. Before most entries were just text. We've gone from text only to some voice-overs to interactive animated dialog to cut scenes, etc.
I think Bioware is experimenting as we go on. For instance, ME2 streamlined the RPG side of things, and even though I love RPGs, I don't think the original way weapons/tools and armor was handled was very good. (Unlike games like Diablo and Torchlight, there wasn't enough variety for me to consider the various weapon/armor management anything more than a bit of a headache).
Similarly, the way conversations are handled is ripe for experimentation. Perhaps instead of having conversations around a "quest hub", you make it so that they approach you directly, and/or you have specific points where conversations happen naturally. There's a lot this engine can do, and it can be utilized in so many ways. (Not to mention when additional new features are added to sequels). Perhaps there are more interactive cut scenes. There is something a little bit artificial about the camp--it doesn't seem as natural as other hubs from my experience (especially with all the standing around).

This is personally what happened with me and FF13. I've played about 6 hours and I've had the game since Tuesday. It's was seriously one of those games I wish I had waited to buy instead of going blind into it. However, I would have never known the disappointment had I not gotten it. So I guess it was for the best.

@feraele true avoidance can be bad but on the positive side every game has its good points and its bad points but until we play a game we wont know if the good outways the bad i personally am dissapointed with somethings i've heard about awakening but i will still play it to see how it has been handled if i dont like it then it will be like other games i didnt like it will sit on the shelf but if it turns out to be good then i will replay only time will tell
Yep for sure..only my games don't sit on the shelf..they are digital hehe. No boxes cluttering up and gathering dust.
Usually..I don't buy before I read a few forums and reviews. I WAS excited about this game expansion...but I should have waited I guess.

Some read The Calling, so they are attached to him in a way. Anyways if he wouldn't have died in the battle at Ostagar he would have gone into the Deep roads..Even Alistair passed over the moment...i don't get why people still want him back. Glad David got it settled. Now i will have the pleasure to quote that when i will see another thread
And i think we shouldn't overreact over the game before getting it (even tho i kinda did, i am relaxed now). And i think one more expansion IS going to come, and maybe tie up some loose ends. Now they will have the money for it too (Awakening was under development before the release of Origins).

And yet, people LOVED HIM to the point where he got shoehorned into the EU and the prequel trilogy.
I just don't get that. I like Duncan, but I don't get the need to put him in further, either.

yeah it could be the fact my main character is fhn and she hates humans which means heads are gonna butt. I'm in charge so shes gonna fall in line or i'm gonna kick her to the curb purely coz i can hehe
Well, it's fun to change the mind of someone like that. Like when you get Sten to admit he was wrong about you.

I would object to the idea that "sympathetic identification" requires being able to talk to a character anytime, anywhere, about anything. I understand that some people liked the way the dialogue worked in DAO, but just because you liked the characters does not mean that the way it worked didn't have its down side or that altering one aspect of it (the list of questions when you clicked on a character) suddenly means only the extreme opposite is possible and all characters are rendered personality-less automatons.Morroian wrote...
Yep, I agree with the above and personally think Bioware don't fully understand the ramifications of limiting conversations insofar as it effects our (the players) sympathetic identification with the characters.
Could you click on party members in BG2 and ask them questions? No? Were they without personality or the possibility of "sympathetic identification"?
My observation is that the most effective means of connecting with party members is through banter and dialogues that actually have import -- they relate to something that is actually going on, either in the plot or in their lives. Being able to ask them all sorts of background questions, while pleasant enough, never really added very much -- and while I get that some people automatically imagine that this means they won't get to talk to their favorite characters at all, it just isn't so. Just because something has been changed does not always result in a net negative.
Again, I'd suggest actually trying it out. You can always return here afterwards and complain bitterly about it, along with the lack of [insert favorite character here], the travesty of [insert plot element here] or the injustice of [insert failure to carry forward plot element here].
Seems as if this may already be expected then?

Well done to the OP for not letting any spoilers out! But from reading the little bits of information, and especially his review... I guess I will (i) import my character and (ii) play on the highest difficulty level.
Obviously, the producers of the game cannot presume that every player coming to the expansion has x. number of hours clocked up in Origins, or has done 2 or three full play through, etc. So I think the 'normal' setting is for folks who did one play through, and did not pay attention to tactics/strategy...
In relation to side quests, companion quests etc., in origins these vary according to moral choices, or even character type... so no one person can be sure that they have experienced every possible combination, quest, etc. Over time, as many people play the game, we will then get a proper idea of the expansion's scope.
But from looking at this initial review, I might start at the highest difficulty setting. Also the game gets a lot more difficult depending on your choices and if you decide to play an unusual path (in Origins the game kind of guides you to go to Redcliff in the beginning, THEN go to the Circle (for help), save Connor, get the Urn, then return, etc. etc. etc. --but if you are awkward and do what you want --like getting the Urn first --but then you are not ready to kill the dragon, or heading off to tackle Morrigan's mother at an early stage... or often a sidequest ends rather abruptly depending on performance/choices. For example if you kill the mercenaries at the Pearl -then you will miss out on a whole string of quests and encounters. Or the pick pocketing quests --you would need to work hard spec wise to get all of those.
Hmmm... maybe re-specing ONCE only at the beginning of Awakening is the best option. Re-specing over and over maybe makes it too easy?
