I am able to get my copy tonight at midnight. Can't wait.
Where did you purchase it from?
Probably Gamestop. A lot of Gamestops are doing midnight release parties for God of War III and are piggybacking Awakening in there too. I just got back from reserving my copy for midnight.
Oh if your like me you find a Game Stop who doesnt realize how popular DA:O -A is and hands it to you four days before release! XD
(works only in back water game stops)

Thanks, but I also suspect nobody's actually listening to me. All some people
are hearing is what they think isn't there, and that I'm here to put a
spin on things. So be it. Perhaps it's better to just let it be and
wait until the hand-wringing has run its course.
You may be right with regard to the most disgruntled of us out there, but I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate it every time I see your name pop up into a thread. I don't post a lot, but I spend time combing through the forums to see what developers have to say (and a few regular posters I remember), and I think a big part of keeping my interest in this game going over the years before it was released was being able to follow that process through your commentary (and Mary's and Sheryl's and everyone else's).
So, here's one vote for you posting whatever you feel like posting as much as you feel like posting, and I have a feeling that a lot of your silent audience probably feels the same way. The most extreme voices are always the loudest, particularly on the internet, and there are a lot of us who value these forums a great deal and maybe don't take the time we should to acknowledge that publicly. Don't worry about the haters...

This is sort of off-subject, but has anyone married Alistair or Anora since the new patch was resleased? I'm curious to see if it still says that you were married 6 months later or something like you were going to get married but then s*** happened, cause honestly I'm having trouble imagining how this is going to play out in Awakening if you chose that ending.
From what I am reading, there is almost no mention of your life from Origins. Senseless.

There is some mention, it's just highly glazed over. Allistair has this real "Oh hi there" attitude about you. Ogren barely makes any mention of the past and really the only people that even acknowladge you in origins are the people of Amaranthine becuase your the one who 'layeth the smackdown" On the Archdemon.

They could at least have the common decency to use proper grammar. Oghren in a black speedo, well that might be amusing.Zabaniya wrote...

hey Mr.gaider (not use to saying mr.heh my high school was so informal) personally I enjoy reading posts from the game developers, more speciafically the individual team ,after all you aren't just some disorganized group, your a legitiamete corporation. it's great to hear what and why you guys made the decisions and honestly I find myself agreeing with most of them.
unfortunatly some times it is hard to understand what people mean in a post, since you can't really ask directly to the person who wrote it , and as has been shown on the site, people will assume what others mean, or will take it as how it comes of to them.
anyways, you guys have my vote to express frustration I mean come on your human, and you spend months and years creating this content, I mean I can never see myself as part of a large corporation much less coding .
anyways keep up the great work:)

I would object to the idea that "sympathetic identification" requires being able to talk to a character anytime, anywhere, about anything. I understand that some people liked the way the dialogue worked in DAO, but just because you liked the characters does not mean that the way it worked didn't have its down side or that altering one aspect of it (the list of questions when you clicked on a character) suddenly means only the extreme opposite is possible and all characters are rendered personality-less automatons.Morroian wrote...
Yep, I agree with the above and personally think Bioware don't fully understand the ramifications of limiting conversations insofar as it effects our (the players) sympathetic identification with the characters.
Could you click on party members in BG2 and ask them questions? No? Were they without personality or the possibility of "sympathetic identification"?
My observation is that the most effective means of connecting with party members is through banter and dialogues that actually have import -- they relate to something that is actually going on, either in the plot or in their lives. Being able to ask them all sorts of background questions, while pleasant enough, never really added very much -- and while I get that some people automatically imagine that this means they won't get to talk to their favorite characters at all, it just isn't so. Just because something has been changed does not always result in a net negative.
Again, I'd suggest actually trying it out. You can always return here afterwards and complain bitterly about it, along with the lack of [insert favorite character here], the travesty of [insert plot element here] or the injustice of [insert failure to carry forward plot element here].
Actually quite the contrary. The conversations you were able to have with your DA:O companions where one of the best elements in game. Most dialogue options were unexpected and lead to a deeper understanding of your companions. It feels much more natural and less scripted/canned when the PC initiates the conversations and you are surprised by the response from your companion, based on your conversation or actions. Why do people try to fix things that are not broken? DA:O was voted 2009 RPG of the year for a reason, people love the mechanics, relationships and the fantastic storyline. If you take that away, especially the storyline what are you left with? Unhappy people.
Alright, here I am.
I DID NOT LIKE the party camp dialogue. Often I would walk over to the character of interest (say, Alistair as a friend of my dwarven male) and I get to choose between asking a question or asking something personal. Whatever I pick.... it's empty and we just say goodbye again. Over, and over this happens since you can drain them of stuff to say. It breaks the immersion ALOT to go to each party member only to say "Hello, I wanna ask you something, oh... nevermind, bye" everytime I'm in camp.
And what's up with being able to talk to Sten when he clearly just said that he didn't want to talk. Pff
Also the romancing... it wasn't good. It's like "I love you, let's have sex!"... and all the kissing
So, here I am, the one person who voices the negative points of the party chat dialogue
People in this thread make it sound like you can't talk to the characters at all, that you can't have a dialogue with them. What if I go past a group of women, and Oghren starts talking about how he wants to do this and that with them... and I can say something to him that opens up some funny dialogue? Why assume that you will not get to know the characters just because you can't pester them in camp over and over?

Well then you should love Awakenings, because they cut out a LOT of that. the only time you do get to talk to any character in your party is if you come across a point specific part of the game. A spot that launches a dialouge be tween you and a certain charatcer. and you dont chooce that party member . The game does.
