Troll? lol. Men don't like Alistair. Women do. I will miss him in Awakening. This is my opinion. Whats the excuse for my dog? His voice actor couldn't have cost too much.
Last time I looked, I was a woman. I don't like Alistair more than any other character in the game. He is far from any fav of mine.
They wanted you to experience new characters. Dog isn't really that interesting, however cute he is. He does have some funny cutscenes and such, but there is a limit on how much you can do with such a character. He got his spot in Origins, time to move on.
Oghren is another story. Most people missed out on him alot since the game sort of makes you go a specific way through the story, where Orzammar is sort of the last place. He didn't do a good first impression and people didn't give him a chance. He got a new one in Awakening so that people would actually see him... and it seems they succeeded in making him more interesting since I've not heard one person say he's a dull character in Awakening.
You are missing my point. This feels like a completely new game to me. And that would be fine! But as an expansion, I expect continuity with my pc's story. Dog not being there kind of blows that doesn't it? As does the fact that whoever you rode off to rebuilt the wardens with isn't involved anymore. Like a completely new game from the way it sounds. Could have charged 60 bucks. I probably would have paid it, too. And as far as Oghren, so the next playthrough, get him first. Problem solved. I did it myself. And by the way, the comment on the women liking Alistair wasn't meant to imply that all women liked Alistair.
Not missing your point. It's an expansion for sure. You can even play with the same character you had in Origins, if you wish it so.
The people you fought with have their own lives, if you talk to them at the end of the game most have their own plans for life. Everyone can't hang around you forever ;P
Dog is still your dog, he's just somewhere else at the moment. To make space for new character that you may start to love just as much as you love Alistair, if you give them a chance.
I wasn't talking about me, I got Oghren first the last time I played since I wanted him in the party. But not all folks play the game more than one time, not everyone think it's important to get to know the characters that much. And Oghren's potential was a bit lost with the average player, if I have understood the forums right.
