Oh boy. My point is this. Why come in and complain about complaining? Isn't that a contraidiction? Express your opinion but can't people do it like mature adults? The name calling and crap is quite unnecessary. I have stated my opinion, and I am having an adult argument with another member about it. There is nothing wrong with that, but being an a** is not necessary.

I agree with you completely.

Not missing your point. It's an expansion for sure. You can even play with the same character you had in Origins, if you wish it so.
The people you fought with have their own lives, if you talk to them at the end of the game most have their own plans for life. Everyone can't hang around you forever ;P
Dog is still your dog, he's just somewhere else at the moment. To make space for new character that you may start to love just as much as you love Alistair, if you give them a chance.

That's not correct on all the characters. Every warden that ended rebuilding the wardens that had a LI, they stayed and helped. (Morrigan doesn't count and is off in advanced pregnacy somewhere) The only mention was Alistair leaving a short while to honor duncan with a memorial which he then hurried back.

As I said new characters are great, however in continuing a PC story it should continue. As it stands story-ending wise it would have been best to just use a new warden and not allow tranfering if it could not be done due to budget/time/developer ideas.

Imho as always.

Now, to cut the tension in this room, anyone notice any differences in Origins since applying the patch that preps it for Awakening? Or is my game just being stupid?

Well you'd think that they may change the end slideshow, to better explain awakenings. I have yet to beat it since the patch.

Valentine does NOT voice Anders. He is the same voice actor as Cullen!

Yeah we established that earlier. Good voice too I guess. Whats this I'm hearing about Awakening being 4 months after the archdemon defeated?! How is it possible for Oghren to settle down and have a child in 4 months? I hope that is not the case, cause just another way that the story is being blown.

Yes, the level up page is different and the gear icons are different.  The mobs seem to have better armor penetration.  So far that's what I've noticed.

We've heard 4 months from that review, 6 months from one of the Bioware reps, and "several" months from another Bioware rep.

I think it's going to be undefined, and left as "it's been a while, but not quite a year".

theres alot of holes in the plot but i think eventually it might get explained in later expansions or books or a sequal if not it means its up to the player to imagine the missing details and plot holes

Well books would do me much good I'm a gamer. Plot holes are not acceptable for me. Expecially in a game that addicted me partly because of it's good story. I'm trying to play through Origins right now with a human noble, and I can't freaking get into it anymore. This is exactly what I was afraid of. Why develop friendships/romances? Why bother doing warden's keep, etc. I am really bummed. I'm very surprised to see holes in the story. Dragon age was so well written. I can't believe they would tell us to fill in the gaps in our heads. Unbelievable.

Don't worry brat1204. You are not alone. The mudslinging in these forums gets rather irritating. We voice our opinion. If you disagree thats fine, just say so in an adult fasion.

What cracks me up is so many of these ridiculous posts come from people who are clearly seeking attention and crave conflict. Many don't even know what they are posting about, they just want to appear witty  and end up looking and sounding like utter morons. They do not understand the meaning of a healthy debate.

Talking about "them" like this publically doesn't make it better. Prove yourself to be the better person, and stop posting things such as what you just posted. Posting such things will only make "them" more angry at you and the thread will get even worse.

The problem with "them" is that they don't bother to read enough posts in a thread to have an informed opinion before insulting the opinions of others, so the odds of her post annoying more than one or maybe two of "them" is pretty minimal.  It gets rather repetitive unfortunately.  Later, rinse, repeat ad nauseum...

it was well written i agree i must admit theres alot of dissapointing things about awakening from what i have read but from the demo there was a few things that looked awesome but i'm hopeful that what the devs said about the romances not ending they have just been put on hold so they can tell the new story and do it justice so maybe in the next expansion or a sequal we might see our love intrests return and our story continued or i really hope this happens anyway

It was amazing to me how they handled the story in Origins. They thought of a lot, for instance if you are a mage when you go to warden's keep and you have not completed the mage's tower, you still can explain to that dude (i forget his name) about what happens when the viel is thin. If you are not a mage, and you have not done the circle, all you can say is "the world is full of mysteries" That amazed me, and just goes to show the time that went in this game. For them to just blow the story like this is sad, and it amazes me. And no, if they are going to do such a terrible job with continuation, I'd rather start as a new character in DA2.

The time gap will make sense once you start the game.

Are you guys purposely bringing yourselves down so you'll be pleasantly surprised?

Lol I hope so greenface.  One person says this then it's interpreted to that and then s*** hits the fan and we go nuts. I am guilty. I will post my verdict tomorrow after playing it, assuming I ever manage to finish the file I plan to import.

Troll? lol. Men don't like Alistair. Women do. I will miss him in Awakening. This is my opinion.

But instead of saying that, you went on a tangent about how budget must be relative if they managed to hire the same voice actor.

Whats the excuse for my dog? His voice actor couldn't have cost too much.

I don't know what you're trying to imply here, as it is obvious this was a programming decision and not a big, dark, dirty secret.

For starters, the comment about the dog was meant as sarcasm. I have the right to express my opinion about Alistair not being in Awakening.  The reason I said anything about the budget thing is because that is what I have read in other forums, that budget is part of the reason some of the old companions didn't return. If that is indeed the case, having Valentine voice Anders would be sort of messed up, considering the "budget restrictions".  So, what is the point of your post? To try and insult people who don't see things the same as you? I respect your opinion and would not insult you or anyone else for it. But having a friendly argument is ok. Is it really necessary to be childish about it?

No. No, it's really not. You should really stop using that, it's a huge cop-out to the conversation.

Oh let us have a civilized conversation by all means. So you say that part of the reason that the old companions didn't make an appearance in awakening is because of budget. So after saying that, you use one of the same actors to voice one of the new characters. Doesn't make much sense with the "budget restrictions". It would be cheaper to reuse Alistair's animations from Origins, and just add a bit more dialouge. I'm just saying that this would have blown their excuse out of the water if that had been the case. Regardless, it's not. We have established that long ago. I don't understand the point of going back to it. What I heard was wrong, Valentine did not voice Anders.  And I enjoyed Alistair, and will miss him in Awakening. Don't see what the big deal is.

Hiring VAs is an entirely different section from animating the game. It's just like Gaider; while one certainly does know the basic mechanics of the others position, they don't have any control over it.

This is why so many people get mad at him, because he simply can't give them the technical details to the answers he gives. They think he is lying, or worse, treating them like idiots. This is also why people think others (myself included) are sucking up when we are simply defending him from pointless - and at times, quite mindboggling - accusations. We obviously can't speak for BioWare, so that just fuels the fire. It's an endless cycle.

Sorry if this has already been posted but i got a quick question to those who romanced alistair.

How do you want Awakenings to handle that romance? Aside from letting him join your party, cause you know that isnt happening.
