All of them. Every last dang one. I get Awakening at midnight, and won't have a file to import. I'm not happy.

I know that feeling too well Cmessaz...happened to me in January...had to delete 9 characters, everything..including my account and start again from scratch.   I wasn't a happy camper let me tell you.

At least all the bugs, etc were deleted..thats what I was aiming for.

Well you must have convenient posts, then. Most of my posts were in response to the person who was insulting another member. However, I don't think you were overly polite yourself. I didn't mean to imply that you were necessarily the one calling names. If I quoted you, then it must have been a mistake. I'm new to forums and occasionally screw up.  People come in these forums and poke fun of others for their opinion and I think it is childish. My point has been made, as has yours. Can we drop it now?

Of course...I happen to agree with you on your third to last sentence.  Although, it is totally in the realm of accepted forum behavior to challenge opinions and statements (name calling and personal attacks are different).  In my years of being a technical moderator on another forum, I have found a good number of people have problems telling the difference.

We are all entitled to our opinions, but, if you are going to share one on a public forum, be prepared to defend said opinion with those that disagree (hopefully in a respectful manner).

Since you admit to being new to forums, keep in mind if you quote someone and add a message, it is implied that you are responding to them...

Well I agree. It is not necessary to make fun of people. Which one did I directly quote you on? I can't find it.  You are not the one that was getting nasty. And when the disrespectfull personal messages start flowing, that was the last straw for me. I went on a rant and I apologize if you thought it was directed at you. You were likely in the wrong place at the wrong time. I am glad to take part in these forums, some of my concerns have been set to rest. I just wish these forums would stay civil. Let us make peace.

To be honest, I do not find him particularly pleasant in any of his posts. I am not bothered.

Why's that? I mean he's passionate about what he does, the company he works for, and the creations he produces so he defends them when he feels they've been attacked unwarrantably. I've never really seen him get to any level of agression in his posts and his replies are always in classy and professional manner. Occasionaly he'll get a little over-zealous but can you really fault the man for defending what he loves doing?

I created a disappearing Zevran bug. I'm not sure how I did it. He just never showed up. And some of my other files became corrupted somehow. I have an idea as to which mod did it, and have deleted it off my computer.

Now with all that being said, The camp discussions and NPC development have always been my favourite part of modern Bio style RPG's.

Kotor, DA, MA, MA2, JE I have played them all and always loved the dialogues both triggered and passive and made sure to explore them all.  If such a thing is gone for the sake of Casualising the game, I will be a sad bunny.

If however the dialogues are just as deep and the purpose is to make them more reactive to direct game events then I can support this, but I would like the camp banters and dialogues to remain part of future games too.

I think...we have to realize where Mr Gaider is coming from..writer (artistic)  ..he may feel we are attacking his work.

Being artistic myself I can understand that part.    You put your heart and soul into what you do.   Its hard to watch it being attacked and torn apart.    But being that there are public forums for discussion of the game, that may happen unfortunately.

I have nothing whatsoever against his writing..NONE.   I think its more the game mechanics than anything else that have me "upset" (not sure what word to put there..but that will do) at times.

In the context of general forum tomfoolery, yes, a lot of ridiculous shenanigans do happen. I just didn't have time to lock threads, ban people, be a moderator from Us to Them, and run my own life. Unless I'm getting paid, there is no point in moderating an entire site that is going with new content 24/7. It has nothing to do with this thread.

All is well. I am under the impression that many mods will actually carry over to awakening. Anyone confirm this? And just for the record, avoid mods that effect the main story. I royally screwed up my game. I mean the whole thing, even after I deleted all the mod's files.

Being a volunteer moderator..is not a happy rainbow time to be sure.   I did this once a lonnnnng time ago for a 2 D game on the Net.    Prior to Everquest's release.

It was what they called a "flame" board...I think you get the picture. :D   I lasted 8 months, got some free games and a game t-shirt with all the Dev signatures on it...then I left for happier places. :)

It can be a large downer...for sure.

I wouldn't go so far to say his creation was attacked, lets not blow things out of proportion. It was more along the lines of disappointment at losing an intimate dialog option with the companions with a "on the fly" conversation option put in instead.

I think had he called it for what the decision to do so stemed from (lack of time. budget) rather than use a weak excuse it might have been better recieved.

It's just - WHY in the hell would you DO that if you're not getting paid, you know? It's not fun at all. The worst is when, at the end of what I really loved was named "Bryy's Reign", a whole slew of new mods were elected. By the forums.

Well I get the impression the "cosmetic" mods will carry over..but not the ones I guess..that possibly change armor..or scenery?   Don't quote me though. :)

I was going to do that, but then I read that the override folder works with awakening. But not the spells such as the Armageddon pack :crying: and others that effect skills. I've heard that the unofficial armor and weapon mods will as well, which is good because I'm a moonwing fashion victim. Can't live without em.

-- end quote---

I am not blowing anything out of proportion..I am suggesting that perhaps..that angle "may" come into it.

And I do believe that perhaps he hasn't looked further into it to understand that people will miss the way the dialogue was done before, and that fixing things that "ain't broke"..in this particular case, may make some of the game's fans unhappy. Or maybe he has.

Sometimes ..I get the impression that the powers that be for these games ..can't really see it from the other side of the fence, as an end-user.

People are attached to what they know...alot of people don't like change..for whatever reason that might be, this is where you step in and perhaps attempt to convince them..that its really okay, they will really like whats coming up next...IF you can. :D

Looks like few more people will be voicing disapproval (including myself) if what i been reading is true, too the point it very big i won't buy awakening.

Didn't think they would be something, but i been proved wrong, i just hope a dev comes on later when it's out proper, and gives the right information, really ruined my hope if its true :(

I wouldn't go so far to say his creation was attacked, lets not
blow things out of proportion. It was more along the lines of
disappointment at losing an intimate dialog option with the companions
with a "on the fly" conversation option put in instead.

I think
had he called it for what the decision to do so stemed from (lack of
time. budget) rather than use a weak excuse it might have been better
recieved.

But you just attacked him right there. You don't know what real reason there was for them to cut back on the amount of character dialogue, every word in Gaider's post may have been true. He may legitimately feel there was far to much dialogue in DA:O that detracted from the overall experience and disrupted the flow of the story. We may disagree with such an assessment, I certainly do. But it's not necessarily a weak reason simply because of what we see on the outside. Give the people doing the work the benefit of the doubt until you've got enough evidence to prove it otherwise.

I would think Gaider is a bit more professional than to feel hurt that we don't like his company's game.

No one said he feel's hurt. But you don't have to feel hurt to have a desire to defend something from what you feel are unwarranted attacks.

Oh but it must be frustrating since the darn thing isn't even out yet. I will give it a shot just because I love DA. If I'm disappointed then so be it. DA is still an awsome game, even if Awakening isn't. I admit to being upset about what I've heard, but then again, there are probably a ton of people who haven't posted their opinions on the game yet cause they are engrossed in it, and having a ton of fun.
