I got about 50 bucks to toss away, and was wondering on which game to plan on getting, I really loved dragon's age (I think awakening comes out march 16, so might be worth the wait.), but I also liked mass effect 1, when i was watching some videos on mass effect 2 I notice alot of them where the romanceable characters for the male shephard (never saw a female main character :crying:).

I was also wondering if mass effect 1 got anything new combat play wise in mass effect 2 (I remember my companions being lost without me, even then I kept hearing "I can't get there without an airlift!!" It drove me up a wall)?

I may only have money for 1 game for awhile, so I was just curious as to which I should get!
I also thing mass effect 1 had a better story line (feel free to argue differently hehe).

Also wanted to know how much play time they had down for each(just counting one play through with all side missions and such) and why is miranda's booty so big?

Actually, now that I think about it. This thread is like asking is the color red is better or blue?

I'll never understand why people thought there was no FemShep. Ah well. As far as which you should buy, well that's really up to which story you want to continue first. Mass Effect 2 clocked in at a little over 30 hours for me, doing some sidequests and planet scanning more than I recommend. Awakening is supposed to be around 12-15 (maybe 20) hours all said and done.

Plus ME2 on console is probably still gonna run you $60 unless you can find a used copy. If you played ME1 on the PC (or just prefer the PC) that won't be a problem, but it's something to keep in mind. Personally I really loved ME2, had nothing but fun with the changes to combat, dug the story, and didn't mind the inventory change. But planet scanning was lame.

Can't really suggest one or the other in the end based on experience, but maybe you should get Awakening. The couple extra bucks you get to keep my come in handy, and you get more Dragon Age. Win-win situation and all that.

The combat in Mass Effect 2 makes it into a whole new game. I actually enjoy the combat segments, which I very much did not in ME1. It is a great game which had, for me, a great deal of replayability. I think I played through in approximately 30 hours.

I also love Dragon Age. I am currently working on my third complete playthrough. (I have two other half-playthroughs.) I think in the end it is your choice. Either way, I am sure you will get your money's worth. And you can always buy your second choice later. (Likely at reduced price.)

Mass Effect 2 is a much different game than the original. Personally, I thought it was extremely unimpressive. As for length, around 30 for everything, much less if you go straight for the main objective of the game.

I don't think anyone here has played Awakening yet including me so it's hard to recommend that. We'll see.

I enjoyed Mass Effect 2 more, personally. i enjoyed dragon age origins as well, and both games had great replay value, but Mass Effect 2 moreso. Also, I'm not sure how big of a game Awakening will actually be. could have less replay value than Origins.

Really though, it boils down to your preference between high-action shooter mixed with RPG or classic RPG mixed with strategy (the micromanaging of party members depending on the difficulty you play on). but my recommendation would be for Mass Effect 2

Dragon Age.

Even if femShep's voice and badassery does things to me.

I guess I can settle for what ever will have the most content and replay value(if I'm not wrong awakening was said to be shorter!), I spent the past week or so painting the inside of a house, so anything that Can devour my time and help me relax a bit...

and I'm on PC, so mass effect is still about 50$, and I never did find a price on awakening(if one was released yet).

But I agree with a previous poster, guess it's too early to say since awakening isn't out yet D:

Guess I made a silly post!

*edit* also is the deluxe version worth getting for the extra 10$?

Pick green, pick green.

But... 50 bucks? Go to game.co.uk and get them both! Well... If you're American I suppose it's not really viable...

Awakening, being an expansion pack, is cheaper. 40 bucks i think was the price i saw on Steam.

If it's like DA:O then you right click the game in the "My Games" menu on Steam and select the CD Keys option. It will then have CD keys for you to register on this site.
