WHO is responsible for this decision?I cant belive they ruined what was great in MASS EFFECT.It does absoulutely not make sense to go in war wits 60 shots!!!Even in the first World War Soldiers had more Ammo. What did they want to accomplish by changing the Gameplay completely.Emulate Call of Duty(one of the dumbest Games in the history of humanity)?I cant believe i have to waste time for searching the floor for grey clips, grey floor mostly by the way.Watching your Ammo is not a tactical nuisance, even not in the 21st century.Shields, protection, coverage and technology(Upgrades tec ) are far more realistic solutions. But this is total nonsense. Why kill something good with something absolutely illogical(not only in the Mass Effect Universe but every reasonable Universe).I havent heard a single logical explanation for this except they want something that resembles TPS.Absolutely unbelievable. The whole Mass Effect Universe has many logic errors but this is one of the biggest.
I hope they fix what they ruined.

Oh, awesome THIS again. No, seriously, it's been a while since we've had one of these threads. Will someone else please tell him how to mod the game to get unlimited ammo back? I'm feeling lazy.

Guns shoot bullets.

Actually, in the ME Universe they don't shoot bullets.

They're very small rail guns that shave extremely small peices off of an ammunition block, hence the effectively unlimited ammunition.

Bullets are just directed (and shaped) shrapnel. What the railguns in ME shoot is exactly the same thing minus the shaped part.

The ammo is unrelated to the reloading, as I'm sure you guys know. We're just ejecting heatsinks.

I didn't mind the idea of ammo initially but the more I play the game the more it bothers me, to be honest.

Not what you're reloading.  While guns still have unlimited ammo, they've switched from cooling via wenting to cooling through the use of replacable heatsinks, or "thermal clips".  Why did they do this in terms of lore?  Simple.

People were getting shot in the face waiting for a waiting for a weapon to cool.  The Geth, who were using such a technology, were not getting shot in the face (flashight?) waiting for a weapon to cool;.  Heat sink based weapons proved to be vastly more effective, causing others to become obsolete and non-distributed.

In game design terms, certain combinatoins were permitting people to trivialze the challenge of the game, and all people would do is pick a favorite weapon and use that.  This did not create the feel they wanted combat to have.  Clips are by far a better mechanic, because of this

That doesn't really answer why they work like ammunition instead of like heatsinks though.

Ammo is stupid. Mass Effect 2 is the only game that uses it

That, I have no idea. Something about them wearing down, iirc.

Guns are stupid, this game needs power swords.

Yes. The Reapers will be defeated by a Daemon Power Sword inhabited by Nurgle.

Yes, it is a better mechanic.

A useless mechanic at that. Personally, I didn't feel any difference at all. Be it the thermal clips or thermal vents... never cared for it; felt the same. The only problem is... you run out of thermal clips and there is no option to vent it instead. Immediately puts it into ammo category.

Also, having to rush around the place to find clips... now that sucks.

It's much like an unnecessary filler. Just like the planet scanning. A waste of developer time. End result is just plain null. They discovered oxygen.

I really never ran out of bullets. I ran out of shots with my sniper rifle on my Insanity run a few times but I never ran out of bullets on all my weapons at once.

Switch between weapons to suit individual situations.

Seriously, unless your finger never stops pressing the shoot button, there's no reason to run completely out of ammo.

Rofl use your power more if your gonna complain about having no ammo. Personally i prefer it this way than what we had in me1 where u could end up with enough heatsink upgrade(or w/e was the name of the upgrade that slowed down the rate of fire) to shoot forever.

No more mindless shooting is a good thing imo.

Yes. Having to scrounge for somehting because you wasted your resources does suck.  The issue, however, is with wasting your resources, whether that be clips or healing potions.  Ctting this out trivializes things - and waiting 30 seconds for a shotgun cooldown is very different from the split second reload in this game - especially if enemies are barreling in on you.

Now it is just mindless cover.

All game mechanics become repetitive after awhile.
Only thing I got tired of the cover system without online play back in GoW1.
I got tired of the shooting in ME1, oh wait I am still playing the game and enjoying it.

I dont see how having to use cover is mindless? in ME1 you could just pop your shield go in and kill everything w/o even needing to use cover at all. Anyway lets just agree to disagree. This style of play suit some player more than other. To each their own.

the ammo system is stupid because it seems like a step back in tech in the ME universe because now you can reload faster but you have a lot less shot like with the anti-matter sniper you can only have 14 or 15 shots they should only have the ammo system with heavy wepons to make the game make sense and connect better to the 1st ME also another point cookies are awesome :D

I love the heat sink system of ME2. It forces you to use all the guns you have, not just one gun all the time. In ME1 you could use assault rifle the whole game, never needing to change weapon.

And finding clips isn't that hard, they are all over the place. You don't really need to look for them.

And for soldiers carrying more than 60 rounds in combat, yeah no. Normal soldier carries 2-5 clips of ammo at any given time, his platoon will have more. So Shepard carrying about 20 something thermal clips (maybe 500 shots in all together) isn't unrealistic at all.
