Can anyone tell me why I get terrible FPS? I think my system should be sufficient to ryun this game. Iv'e follwed a ton of advice on here, but nothing helps. I did a clean install of XP, updated all drivers. Doesn't matter what setting I play on, the frame rate comes to a crawl after about 30-40 seconds of playing, even the option menu is real slow. When I go into task manager it shows CPU at 100%, but I have nothing running. Is there anything I need to upgarde? Please help?

Do you have the Steam version? If yes, disable the Steam Overlay.

When you go into the Task Manager and see it at 100%, look at the breakdown of processes by CPU %. Is that 100% usage all Mass Effect, or are there other programs taking significant amounts?
Your comp should indeed be all right, so I'd guess you're probably looking at a background program. An anti-virus program might well be the culprit, not all of them play nice with every game out there.
