Finally, someone gets it. Neither Zaeed or Kasumi were finished in time for the main game- not nearly, in fact. Months since the game went gold were spent on their development. In fact, we only put in the framework which was needed in the game to support them later. We're very much aware of what the "hackers" were able to find in the PC game, and completely expected these bits to be found.

Speculate all you want, but believe me - we monitor these forums. The basis for this thread (the claim that dlc was pulled from disc to be shipped/sold later) - is incorrect.

Not to be a downer or anything, but some people would argue that releasing a game before all the intended content is finished isn't really a good practice.

It certainly doesn't help that the majority of DLC content grossly overpriced when compared with the entire game at large. It also doesn't help that most of the DLC is about as well integrated with the game as a toaster is after being taped to a lawnmower.

I may not really like and/or use most of the Cerberus Network DLC, but at least they were free.

Did you actually read the post you just quoted? It says there basically that Kasumi was not part of the intended content of the game that was to be released.

Hey people, we aren't talking about any random company here, IT'S FREAKIN BIOWERE, and i know we all expect better of them, i would surely pay for an EXPANSION, but come on, this character adds to the story like Zaeed did (the suicide mission bla, bla) and it's two hours lon... idoubt it, but even so, basically it's cut content!

Anyways, I wouldn't mind paying (even tho' i have to make a new bank account involving Visa or Master Card since in my damn country i use something else which isn't recognised) for a DAMN expansion which adds 10-20 hours of gameplay, new planet hubs etc. But come on, this has Cerberus Network content written all over it!

Hopefully Bio knows what they're doing...

Cheers, and thanks for the great content so far (minor annoyance)!

No, the quote states the Zaeed and Kasumi were not complete in time for the main game when it went gold, not that they were not intended.
Also that DLC CONTENT was not pulled from the disc to be shipped/sold later. No mention of what happened to intended content.

Regardless of what Bioware intended, all the tiny bits of piecemeal DLC make the game feel unfinished. So far we have not had to pay extra for the DLC, which negates the curse of it some, but it seems that this is going to change.

Kinda defeats the purpose of the Cerberus Network.

Still, It would be nice it they would actually integrate some of the DLC if they must have it, instead of just tossing it into your lap with a tiny text explanation.

As an aside, I'm still angry at the DLC armor with the perma-helmets. That was just...ugh.

That Kasumi is pay content is absolutely disgusting. Did I or did I not buy this game already?

She wasn't removed from the game. She was planned as a DLC - she has been planned as such for a long time. They developed the finished game around that, to ensure that she fits in flawlessly. That's why she's got little bits of code related to her character on the game disc
.
She wasn't finished when the game shipped though. Again, she was planned, from the beginning, to be a DLC character.

Ah yes, "frameworks"...we have dismissed those claims.

OK serious now -

Mr Gamble, might I suggest that you avoid leaving such bits and pieces in future games? I believe you (or rather, I have no reason to doubt you), but cutting content and later selling it as dlc DOES happen in this industry, and it REALLY makes consumers mad.

It would be better to avoid such situations entirely, don't you think? At the very least, comments like these would have been more helpful weeks ago, when "hackers" first discovered the nearly-complete Kasumi files in the code.

Its all in presentation. Kasumi presumably has full in-mission dialogue just like Zaeed, but both characters get such poor reception because you do not get letter-box dialogue with them on the Normandy.
If they had that cinematic letter-box dialogue no one would say anything about them "feeling detached" because by all other measures they have as much content as the other squadmates, and more importantly, be presenting themselves as the same kind of experience as the other squadmates.

Thanks for posting Bioware.

I enjoyed the free content and will likely buy Kasumi.

I'm a bit wary since Pinnacle station of course :)

And have you considered things like production cost and deadline? Every company needs to decide where they have to draw the line, where they need to stop creating more content in order to be able to make enough money. After all, the more content they put in the game, the more time and money is consumed. And with the game prices already set to $60 (for consoles) there is not much they can do to increase income that way. I don't know claim to know the Bioware/EA budget for ME2, but neither do I make demands that this or that character or whatever should have been in the game instead of release later as a dlc.

Maybe you guys are looking at the CN wrong. So what if you have to pay for the Kasumi DLC.

here's what we got or will get for free from th CN

A new sqaudmate with 1+ hour(s) of gamplay (Zaeed)

A new Vehicle with 5+ hours of gamplay (Hammerhead)

A new quest with 2+ hours or gamplay (Normandy Crash site)

3 new weapons ( Shotgun and 2 heavy weapons)

A new armor set (Cerberus assault armor)

if that was all pcked together as one DLC how much would you pay for it? And yet they gave it to us for free when they didn't have to.

The only gripe I have about the Cerberus network is when I choose the top menu up there, go for Games -> ME2 -> Official DLC, it tells me I need to invest 1200 BW points or something. I need to use Profile -> Your redeemed game promotions. Very counter-intuitive. I'd rather be able to access Cerberus network from the menu up there.

That is all. Other than that, it's a cool idea.

I would love to know how many of the people that are on the side of bioware about charging for something that was already in the game; have a job or are paying for DLC for themselves?

That being Said I really think they should have added her a Free DLC and the car as Payed for DLC
I just hope the small stuff like weapon and armors stay Free I would happily pay for new worlds trading hubs and dialog filed missions but no way I am paying any more then 50c for one new armor or weapon if its a weapon pack that adds two new weapons to each type of weapon then maybe 3$ all the stuff off of Cerb network together I would pay 8.99$ no more

In his defense, it took me about an hour to figure out there were some tags in the crates.

How the hell did they get in there?

There was work left to do, Kasumi on the disc is not finished.

Yes, I pay for my own dlc.

Even if Kasumi was finished before the game was released, I wouldn't have a problem with paying for the dlc. Why? Because I payed full price for my copy on release date and I think It was well worth the money, I didn't feel like something was missing. Then we have the replay value which is great as always when it comes to Bioware games.

So, I'm more than pleased with the final version of the game. And that's the verision that matters. All other possible versions are irrelevant.

Now regarding the Kasumi dlc: If they charge $5-7 for it I will probably buy it right away. If it's $10+ I will wait for reviews and comments on this forum. I don't care how much of that content was finished before the game was released. All I take into consideration regarding this dlc is what's in it compared to what it costs. If I don't think it's worth it, then I won't buy it. Will I come on this forum and whine instead? No.

It's definitely premature to deem the Cerberus Network a failure. But I must say that I'm generally disappointed with the "bonus content" that Bioware has brought to the table. The pre-order armors are decent but the permanent helmet makes them practically unusable (sure I'm whining here, but all of the dialog sounds like it's being said in a cave). The Collector's Edition set me back $78.10 (tax included) for another ridiculous armor, a fairly decent weapon, and a whole lot of nothing else I couldn't find on the internet for free. The Cerberus Network itself has been fairly lackluster for what is supposed to be a $15 value, while so far dispensing nothing more than a moderately good sqaudmate, a 5 minute Requiem for the Normandy, and some gear. Granted Firewalker is on the way (cross your fingers and knock on wood) which may add something worthwhile, but I'm not holding my breath seeing as it's only five missions. But the confirmation for Kasumi as paid DLC just seems insulting.

I'll buy it. I never had any doubt about the fact that I will own a complete ME2 game, regardless of cost. I did it for ME1, buying Bring Down the Sky AND Pinnacle Station (even after reading the reviews). I'm sure there are plenty of fans out there who will do/ have done exactly the same. Yet I can't help but feel like my fandom is being taken advantage of. I'll gladly pay $40 for DA:O Awakening when it releases this week, I'd probably pay $60. But now's not the time to start nickle-and-diming a loyal Mass Effect fanbase for content that, in all actuality, really should have shipped with the game and won't seem to add anything revolutionary to the game anyhow. We'll pay $40 when a full-game expansion comes out, we'll probably pay $60. But to charge for a single squadmate just seems wrong.

Not to say that I don't believe the dev, but to play's devil's advocate, he said exactly what a corporate entity would say when their scheming is brought to light. I do believe the official statement because well, the freaking game is 2 discs. They obviously weren't looking very hard for things to cut with that much content. Not sure how I feel about Kasumi, I hate Zaeed. And, I know that he tells stories, but they're so choppy and random that it feels like he's not a real squaddie.
