I will most likely purchase the new content. Basing the value of the purchase on the number of hours to me is ridiculous, because this pack is adding a mission that can, believe it or not, be played more than once, and it is a character that can be used for the entire game.

If I based all purchases on an hours to dollars ratio, everything I buy would seem like a rip off. "Well damn, I paid a dollar for this cup of coffee, and finished it in five minutes! I didn't get enough content per hour from that!"

I don't want to take sides here, but to be fair, that's exactly how the DLC is being priced with BioWare games.

'1 hour of content' - $5
'1.5 hours of content' - $7+

So in BioWare terms, they are justified in charging $5/hr for extra game content. It's not too bad as long as it doesn't feel recycled.

IF its correct and I wont believe anything until I hear it from BioWare.
Bring down the Sky cost only 400 Microsoft Points if my info is correct. So its really not that bad to pay 560 points for it is it?

Bring down the Sky was free on PC.
Probably as an added incentive to get people to buy the game ('cos it was a late port).

It was also the infinitely better version =)

$7 isn't bad at all, especially for a new weapon and squad member you can use for more than just 1.5 hours of unique content.

Netflix, yo!

Anyways: 8 isn't too bad, and if it's Bioware it'll be fun.

Still wish she actually had conversation, though...I'd rather wait a full year for a full-fledged companion than a yak-yak box!

Hmmm that worked eventually. $7 is pretty standard for DLC but I'll wait till I see it on Bioware's site. Maybe they'll take pity on us and make it $3.50?

Of course it was. PC control scheme does rpgs and shooters better, and ME is a bit of both.
Not that consoles don't have their place ... I mean ... Bayonetta.

But that again assumes a single usage. Also, any items(like the new SMG) included cannot necessarily have their value measured in hours, since they can be used throughout the entire game and on all subsequent playthroughs.

Off-Topic: Does anyone remember Silver? MAN that game was a fun PC hack-and-slasher! Wish I could find it somewhere...

Not just the control scheme. The graphics, the loading, the inventory, the Mako... It was all superb. I never played ME until it came onto the PC, and a year after that I saw my roommate playing it on his 360, and it looked kinda shoddy. I was kinda shocked to see how much better it actually was on PC.

Also, no offense, but I can't tell if your avatar is a dude or a chick.

Exactly what I've been saying since the announcement of it being paid DLC. If you use Kasumi in your squad, if you use Advanced Training to take her power, and if you use the new SMG any other time than the new mission she comes with, you're getting well more than your money's worth.

Hahaha good point!

I am a complete film nerd though.  I usually buy movies I watch.... Okay so it was a bad example lol.   But still since you cant netflix dlc...  my point still stands which is that... as a standard concept of pricing, we are not being ripped off... AT ALL!

How 'bout this: Large Pizza from Domino's, or DLC? Difference is that the DLC remains even when you still consume it.

And if it turns out that they're sucky, you can throw 'em away!

That pizza would give me indigestion for a couple of hours. By the logic of some people here, I suppose that would mean the content was well worth the price.

If there's no unique dialogue, and she's really just another version of Zaeed, then I can't see myself shelling out $8 for a new character and a loyalty mission.

Here in Australia, prices are ridiculous. AUD$110 for Dragon Age at launch.
Even considering the exchange rate, at the time it was >US$100.

The amount of time you spend playing something isn't a valid justification for price.
The quality is.
Here, Aion is AUD$90 .. throw in a monthly fee, and you get 100s of hours of grinding.
Is it worth $10? No.

Just saying.
If it's worth the price, I'll pay it.

Well, we won't know if it is actually worth it until is released. The point that I am trying to make is, that I believe that using a ratio of hours to dollars to measure value is a silly way to go about it. Personal value is about context, not mathematics.

Yeah, which is what I've been saying.

Gonna see if people say stuff like "whoa the mission is awesome, it made me cry" or whatever.

Well, I meant that BioWare defines it as in a "single usage". That is, $5/hr per character, I would say. So yes, if you play at least 2 characters and use Kasumi quite frequently, the $7 is a reasonable price.

Or, to put it more in light, Bioware has just released a whole bunch of content for free that normally you'd have to pay for. Free armor, two free missions, free weapons.

Now they're finally asking you to pay for something, I say if you think it'll interest you, buy it. Support your local Bioware. The more money they make, the more games they can produce.

I recently escaped the overpriced penal colony that is Oz... I'm kind of frightened about what the Bioshock 2 CE would sell for there, since its ~$100 here in the US.

If it can be gotten with the smallest amount of M$ points you can buy, I'd consider it.
