I just installed the new patch from the stickied link above.  Afterwards, I tried to load up the game and selected "play" from the screen.  Now the game won't load - it just stays on that screen.  The funny thing is that it was working perfectly until then.

In case it's relevant, here are my system specs:
EVGA 790i Ultra motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 @ 2.66GHz
6GB HyperX DDR3(1600) RAM
XFX Radeon HD 5850 1GB graphics card

EDIT: Forgot to add that I'm using Vista Ultimate 64.

I have the same issue with this as well. Can't load from exe file itself, says problems with side by side configuration. but the launcher is now broken...if I knew this was going to happen, I wouldn't have applied patch

Specs:

Asus maximus formula motherboard

Intel Xeon X3360

4GB ddr2 Patriot

HIS HD 4890 x2 crossfire

I am thinking I will re-install the game to get it to work.

The patch was built using a different version of the MS VC++ 2005 libraries. You can find the latest version here:

Windows 7 Ultimate (64) (All patches as of 11/7/09)
Intel E8600 (3.3ghz Dual Core)
GTX285 (191.07)
4GB of RAM
Intel DX48BT2 motherboard. (Bios Ver 2000)

After reading these posts I was leary about installing the patch, but have not had the problem mentioned my everyone in here. Maybe the fact that it works on my machine will help cancel out what is causing the problem........

Edit a few minutes later.......
I stand corrected. The Games Explorer Icon does nothing (can't even right click on it to get a drop down menu).
Created a shortcut of the icon in games menu to desktop this icon performs the same (no action taken).

Autorun from DVD still works properly.

The second posted thread fixed the problem.

Be aware to use the x86 distribution file, not the first two. File name is vcredist_x86.exe

This worked for me. The only problem now is that I don't have access to the DLC or anything, because apparently I need ver 1.0 of the game. And I have updated the game to 1.01. Hopefully by monday this will be fixed.

Well I am reinstalling the game and not patching. I did what you said, but it still does not download the DLC for me.

I reinstalled the game since the patch messed things up but now I do not have access to any of the DLC. Any ideas?

Avira anti-virus still says the patch is a trojan. Is Bioware going to fix it?
