Hi, I havent done insanity as yet but it's the last achievement I have left. Now I have been playing as an Adept and my question is this.

Is it easier to do so from an ME1 import, where you start at Lev 5, or to do it as a "new game +" where you are at Lev 30 and will all equip etc?

Any advice would be appreciated......... Tyvm :)

Start a new game or import ME1 save. NG+ is much, much harder because all the enemies will be level 30 and tough as nails.

Soldier and Infiltrator are the easiest (or so I'm told).Adept and Vanguard(?) are the most difficult.

Adept gets shredded in seconds. I'd roll Soldier or someone with shield upgrades or ammo powers and take Reave as your bonus power. Sit behind cover+Spam rave the entire game.

NG+ is only harder until Horizon, at which point I think it's actually easier. Most of the important upgrades can be attained after Horizon leaving you in a position very similar to where you are in a standard NG except you have a fully fleshed out character and squad.

Hands down, I think I've had the easiest time with Soldier on Insanity.

I'm playing through on Insanity+ with a Sentinel right now, and it's tough. Soldier was definitely easier.

Ty all, all this advice is very helpful and appreciated. As for playing other than adept however would be new to me. I have over 120 plays thru ME1, but only 4 with M2, this being by my 4th.

All my plays of ME2 so far has been as Adept, as it is my fav. That and Vanguard, altho I am wary to tyr Vanguard in ME2...... that 'charge" thing.... not sure about it :)

I am at the last assult atm and just wanted advice for next play which will be startinh soon.........:)

I honestly think the Soldier or Sentinel would do well for you.  You've played as a Vanguard, so you aren't scared to shoot your gun.  You've played as an Adept, so you aren't scared to be at range and coordinate attacks as you close in.  If you lean more toward your Vanguard and action, pick the Soldier.  If you lean more toward casting like your Adept, pick the Sentinel.

Both of them are very well equipped to handle anything and everything the game throws at you.  Have fun.

Ummm....... well time has come..... I would like to go with "sinosleep's" advice but have to "keep to the plan". I have done M & F Paragon, from M1 and now M Renegade.... so Fem is next.

I know its gonna be a nitemare probably,,,,, so any help would be extremely appreciated.

So I am playing a Lvl 60 ME1 import, Fem, Ren, Adept.

As I said any advice would be great......... especially as to how best to "train" my team to make best use of all talents points........ hopefully without wasted points left over :)

Thx again ppls... you have been a big help

So wait, you're going to play a 4th or 5th Adept?  Have you tried the other classes yet?

I have played ALL classes in ME1, and all variations of such, but but have to complete these 4 plays as Adept... and I want the Insanity achievement.

I don't expect it to be easy, and am sure ot wont. To answer your question tho this will be my 5th play of ME2 and I have not tried the other classes in ME2 as yet, but I will :)

For now tho, it's time to eat and see what's on the box. Will start my new play in the mornin... So untill then any advice is very welcome :)

TYVM to all that have answered and helped me here..... nite :)

Adept is awesome. Singularity spam still works in Insanity, you just have to add +1 ingredient.

That is assuming it's how you've been playing on veteran and lower .. if you're already expert with the adept, then new game level 5 import would be what I recommend.

'cos leveling up is part of the fun, plus you have your bonus renegade/paragon points (which you lose in a NG+)

I've just finished a insanity play through on an adept and it is TOUGH. I recently started a new game on soldier because I've been itching to use the revanant and I missed having a sniper rifle. It's was so much easier at first I checked to make sure it was still on insanity. Except for warp, pretty much all of the adept's biotic arsenal is halted on insanity since just about every enemy has armor or shields. One thing I should probably mention is that an adept is rather effective during the suicide mission, even more so if you take Thane+ another sniper like legion. Two chars with warp rips down biotic barriers on collectors and the sniper rifles allow quick movement through the suicide mission...atleast before the husks. I found husks to be rather difficult and had to constantly run from them around a singularity.

What do you mean run?

Stand inside your singularity, and carnifex/melee/warp any husks that come near. Soon as their armour drops, they get sucked in and die.

Oh yes, I stand inside singularities a lot. It's hilarious.

Infiltrator or Soldier are easiest on insanity. Vanguard after some mastery (old habits of fighting defensively die hard - as a Vanguard you have to be berserk + drunk... and then you pawn) is quite fair. However... Adept is something I dare not try.

However, enemy's armor/shields in insanity is actually quite easy to take down, so it's not impossible to use biotics. In fact, during the suicide run, biotics pawn.

I did it with an imported lvl 60 ME1 character, and played as an Adept. Asides from wrongfully speccing one of my teammembers, it was pretty awesome.

I'm playing with an Adept right now, using an ME 1 import.

Overall, it isn't so bad. Been really only 2 fights that have troubled me. One is one of the fights getting to Mortin. This would would have been a lot easier for me than it was if I'd picked up Pull sooner. The other the fight right before you activate the tower on Horizon. Lots of Husks, need armor knocked down before you can really dominate.

Basically a combination of needing to get some powers in place and lots of melee enemies with armor.

Hmm. It seems despite Average Gatsby's adept thread, people have trouble with it.

Maybe once I'm done uploading my Infiltrator let's play, I'll do one for Adept.

For me, the Soldier was the easiest revisit. Got so easy I stopped using AR and started using my cool downs for something extra - like Fortification. Infiltrator was slightly harder since I wasn't so good that I could clear everything through with a Mantis. Had to actually switch to the pistol, which I never had to do as Soldier.

Adept revisits on Insanity combat levels were fantastically fun, the most fun I had in ME2, but I won't suggest it for newbies. You kind of need to know more than just aim and shoot. Definitely, NG+ is tougher until Horizon.

If you're used to Adept, I highly recommend Sentinel, as that is also a power class. Take a drone user and a Pull user along and you'll feel right at home.

I say newgame+ your end game character cuz of the armor and ability bonuses. tragiclly weapon and ship bonuses do register but don't carry over (probes at 30 and gas at 1000) also mineing carries over but you have to mine regardless to get the weapon and ship bonuses regardless.

I am doing that with my adapt even though I screwed up with rebuilding my tiers. how and when do I get RETRAIN POWERS again?

Oh yeah Biotic Charge... It's actually pretty cool. As soon as you reach the enemy you charge at, time briefly slows down, and you get a Barrier. Biotic Charge is very useful for shotgun kills, especially if you opt for the M-300 Claymore heavy Krogan shotgun. If you are right in the enemy's face, that gun will almost always kill in 1-2 shots. Vanguards in ME2 also get Shockwave, which is useful for stopping Husks from overwhelming you.

I used an Infiltrator at lvl 30 as my first insanity playthrough, and the only hard parts:

-Very first gun fight with Mechs and Fenris Mechs. Only hard because you have no upgrades and your using a lame Mantis rifle.

- Grunt Recruitment mission with the YMIR Mech, lady firing rockets, and charging krogan, with little cover. Might have been the hardest part for me.

Horizon, but not too hard after the first wave. You can snipe/spam incinerate one of the Scions before the first wave. And after the that, cloak and strafing around till you kill all the husks then bullying the last scion is easy. The next few Collector/Husk waves aren't too hard if you take cover at the hill to the left or the L bunker on the other side. I used the Cain on Preatorian to take half of it away and with Grunt concussive shot, Miranda warp, and my tempest with warp ammo, strafing around one of the trucks to kill the Preatorian is easy. You can even use your cloak to run to the opposite end for respawning ammo for your Widow to take a huge dent in the Armor.

-Reaper IFF - I didnt realize you could just run backwards to funnel husks through and then bully the scions. Then at the Core, I first thought it was impossible to beat, but then I found out that theres the bug where the husks wont go up the far side of stairs, so that made the game into a simple cloak running competition.

-Suicide Mission was kinda hard, but just because you really have to conserve ammo.

An Infiltrator with maxed out Widow and Cloak, can 1 shot just about every minor enemy in the game. I really suggest an Infiltrator.
