I am surprised that so few people actually appear to want their custom avatars, I really would've thought more people would support this. (Yes, this is a shameless bump, but I though I'd give it one more try...)
Give us custome Avatars!!!

Wouldn't having to constantly delete inappropriate ones be a pain in the ass for moderators?

No. There is a report post for a reason. If someone sees obviously offensive picture, be it avatar or picture inside post, mods and admins can take care of it either way. Really, fear of extra work doesnt really hold water. If someone really wants to troll with offensive avatars they WILL troll on other ways too, speaking BS and posting disgusting pictures and whatever. And such people are banned on sight anyway.
Without custom avatars its harder to smoothly follow who is speaking to whom. Yes, we have our on web-names but avatars give those names a FACE, you recognise who is who just with quick glance to avatar. They are part of the posters personality.
Without custom avatars its sometimes confusing when there are 3 same Shepards and 5 same Legions discussing about something, for me anyway who frequents on other forums too with plenty of personal avatars.
What is the DA:O workaround anyway? How it is done? Or do I even dare to ask?

I don't think they have a problem with custom avatars as I have never seen one be deleted. However I haven't seen anyone that was offensive

Yeah thats good, and it all goes well with that until you have to wait for your goddam character to upload! I've waited for about 2 weeks for my character to upload and it hasn't. GRRR!<_<Celrath wrote...

It should upload in about an hour at least it did for me. Remember you have to delete the character on the website then re-save in the game the moment you change armor the save again it is replace with the original. thats why I made a character just for the avatar that, I don't use.

Cool! Thanks!
And yeah. The times I have spent on different forums I have yet to encounter a seriously offensive avatar that clearly breaks to rules of forums.

Well, finally got mine to work. No idea how though, all of a sudden it was there. (Interestingly enough the new character I created in DA:O still has not uploaded to the page... Really strange)
