I have a Steam version of the game with all released DLCs and Collector items. Game runs fine, but it always crashes whenever I open Weapons Loadout screen. What causes this?

Magic ???????? maybe ............
Steam version of the game you may want to browse the Steam Forums for ME2 and see if it's happened to others. Otherwise I would assume it's a corrupt file somewhere. Then again it would depend on what the error you are getting

I had no problem with it at all, but I downloaded the firepower pack for the steam version of the game, installed it, got the emails, but now when I just open the loadout screen, either for the mission or on the armory it crashes. Do I need to start a new game for the dlc? I mean they are just weapons so it should not be a problem but I'm getting the same issue

I am guessing that ME2 has some problem reading more than a couple DLC weapons files, like it has a memory overflow error. I think the DLCs are just adding more files to load, or making one source file to long to read. If I load even half of the DLCs, I the game freezes on the loadout screen.

Hey all, I just followed this link from another topic: http://support.ea.com/
I then waded through lvl1 tech support and have had my issue escalated to "a more senor tech." For everybody else with this issue, I would also open a ticket with EA.

Since this started with a discussion of the game run through Steam, I might have a relevant input from ME1. First bought game through Steam when I realized ME2 was best played by importing from ME1 and did not want to delay starting it. After I added the Pinnacle Station DLC the game became very buggy and locked up a lot. When I uninstalled the Steam game and downloaded a fresh install, Steam had incorporated all the patches and both DLCs for ME1 and that game was corrupt too. I ended up buying the DVD version and starting over. No problems with ME1, based on the DVD version of the game. Based on that experience, in my opinion there is a problem with the Steam version of the game playing well with the DLC. Until I downloaded and installed the DLC, ME1 worked fine. ME2 is a different game with a different engine, but it may have the same issues. I have ME2 DVD version with all patches and downloads, running on Win 7 32 bit and have had very few issues in many hours of play. Oh of course Steam was no help with my ME1 problem, since it is not their game. I think the issue is Steam (Valve) and what they do to the game to make it run via Steam--which is not quite compatible with DLCs.

I am only talking about DLC problems with the retail collectors edition of ME2. If I install even half of the DLCs I have purchased, the game locks up at the weapons loadout screen. All other parts of ME2 play fine.

Just adding my annoiance at this issue. The more threads that are on the first page of the forums, the more attention the problem might get from the dev's. Clearly there is a problem. Just out of curiosity, are we all on Windows 7 x64?

Not sure if this works for all but I had the same problem with crashing in the weapons load-out screen.
Seems to only crash if the CPU affinity is set to one processor.Since then I have left the affinity set to both processors and have not had a crash yet.Loading times are back to being long though.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for that, but that wasn't my issue. CPU is running on all cores and always has been.
