I have mainly a few problems with my Mass Effect 2. Any help rendered would be appreciated.

The game I have is a PC version, collectors edition.

1. How do I activate the Collector's assault rifle in the game? I have installed it in and so how do I equip it on my player character?

2. My Mass Effect 2 hangs sometimes when I am playing on my computer...and my computer shows that the game program is not responding. It often hangs at loading screens the most. Any way to correct it?

The third problem is a little problematic.

I did not manage to get a copy of Mass Effect 1 (as they are all sold out), hence I have to go to the masseffectsaves website to get a download for the character. I need instructions on how to import the character save without mass effect 1. I would love to play as a paragon shephard and renegade shephard with the decisions that carry over to Mass effect 2. Can anyone help me with it?

If there's anything wrong, I will delete the post immediately.

1.) Collector's rifle and other weapons can be equipped using weapon storage. You can find it in the Normandy, near Jacob or before starting any mission. However, if you're playing as a class which cannot use assault rifles, you may not equip it at the beginning of the game.
2.) Try updating your drivers... You know the drill.
3.) Open Mass Effect 2 launcher and select "Save games" on the left. Press "Copy Mass Effect 1 saves" and select the folder where your save games are located. Then you can import that character in-game by selecting "Import ME1 character".

1) I am playing as a sentinel now...so which classes can be equipped with assault rifles? (I am new to Mass Effect)
2) Apologies...which drivers, and how to update? (through windows update or something?)
3) I do not have Mass Effect 1. I tried what you said, along with the import, but it did not work. Can you list the step by step way so I can check if I missed anything?
