Dear Bioware,

You have won a stolid fan in me through Dragon Age and both Mass Effect games. I will be sure to purchase retail copies of any subsequent FULL releases.

Please note I say FULL releases. The structure you have in place for both of these marquis franchises is such that once a player has finished a game NO FURTHER USE of that character is permitted !!!!!

I have now been burned twice by purchasing DLC through Xbox Live only to find that I cannot use that new content with my favorite characters....This has happened with Mass Effect 1 (Bring down the Sky) and Dragon Age (Return to Ostagar).

As much as I love all three games from these two franchises, I am greatly saddened that I must now play through them for the 3rd and 4th time just to see what the new content is about.......

You have earned my respect for the great attention to detail you paid to Mass Effect 1 fans and incorporating those most common complaints into ME2....Please, PLEASE work on a fix for the 'dead' character situation.

With many thanks for countless hours of gaming,

Battleshield

P.S. - For those that would reply "Load a save from prior to completion" I reply - I have a 10gb HDD on my 360 and cannot possibly save so many save game files over the years - once complete, I delete all but the last save to make the most use of HDD space. I will be sure to save 3-5 in the future, but I (we) now have characters that cannot be used without a fix.

You can continue all content in ME2, Once you beat the game, just continue playing. You can still save at any time after completing new content. Your saves will be used for exporting. So, if you beat the game, then DLC comes out, you can still play it with any character. Once you beat the DLC, save, and your characters are up to date. Deleting your characters at all is a dumb idea. 10GB is a lot of memory on the Xbox 360 if you don't download movies or install games. You have more than enough space to save hundreds of characters. For future reference, have a character that you play the game with but don't beat if you cannot continue once you beat the game, this way you don't need to start over. If playing a game is burning through it on the 2nd or 3rd try, how much do you really like it? These games are designed for multiple playthroughs at a minimum of 6 to try everything.

Also, this is the BioWare Store Support thread, next time, post something such as this in the Mass Effect General Discussion, Dragon Age: Origins General Discussion, or Off-Topic forums.

Why would there be a 'fix' to the dead character situation? It wouldn't be a suicide mission without it. That's the entire atmosphere of ME 2 - a sense of urgency and carefully weighed in decisions by the players.

If you're going into a suicide mission in which no one expects you to survive, don't expect to come out of it alive 100% of time. This death option gives you a sense of realism and urgency in your decisions -- something that brings the game elements to life with the decisions actually in your hands (or controller). Bioware does this brilliantly.

This topic should be moved to the ME 2 General Discussion.

And if you can't save too many save files get a larger HDD.

Please, can we keep this discussion out of the store support forum? You can quarrel in the mentioned forum http://social.biowar...egory/103/index and rip each other into shreds if you want.

No one is quarreling. As far as I'm concerned, this should be moved to the recommended link. :)

Thanks to those that have replid - I can clearly see my wording was poor enough that apparently no one understood my point.

If you are going to release post-release DLC make sure it is playable by those characters that have finished the story arc of the core game - I too played Mass Effect 1 AND 2 AND Dragon age Origins (base game) 2 times (that twice for each game totaling 6 play-throughs).

~Hellhawx - thanks - i wasn't specifically addressing ME2 - I was addressing the recent family of Bioware games. "10GB is a lot of memory on the Xbox 360 if you don't download movies or install games. You have more than enough space to save hundreds of characters" - you might want to add "Also, do not view Game pre-launch videos, game demos, or anything else bigger than free Gamer pics for contests.....

~Behelit - were you addressing me? I would like to think not - i've played both DA and ME franchises enough to put me in rare company with respect to content, thanks.

For those addressing post location - I posted where I did because there appeared to be no general "Bioware" forum for all items not specific to a particular game.....

~t6ram - it is apparent to me that you did not read my post - when i refer to a 'dead' character, im not speaking of suicide missions unless crowning the King in Dragon Age is bad for ones health and destroying Saren at the end of Mass Effect 1 is somehow proof of the need for character 'disappearance' within the game world.

A dead character is one that crowns the king (DAO) and then can't leave the throne room !!!! And the same for Mass Effect 1 - beat Saren and - oops credits rolling, no more missions with THAT Shepard....

...THOSE are dead characters as far as i'm concerned.

Uff, well... that's how the world goes.

I hesitated to finish ME1 until six months or so before ME2 was released. I stopped playing my main character in DA:O to wait for RtO. I was rushing through ME2 only because I knew that this wasn't my last run. (My perfect lv. 60 Shepard still is in line for import into ME2, waiting for all DLC to be released.) So I really understand your problem (in case that I understood your problem in the first place). But... unfortunately, this is how it goes. There often is a point of absolutely no return in most RPGs and many people had to play a game three, four or more times to enjoy expansions that were published much much later.

It simply makes no sense that there is enough time to RtO after a coronation since the parties have to gather, make visits (tcalss: the remaining people have tasks). It also makes no sense that Shepard is off to training or save a closer planet when he wants to scan the traverse for geth. And possibly most of the crew isn't available anymore. - This is according to my imagination. The results make sense for me at the current point. Just imagine that maybe BioWare included "returning" for ME2 to avoid these complains. Or anything else.

(I won't recommend buying a larger hdd as soon as you can afford it as there are people that can do with a single console game at a time while I cannot.)

This thread still is better off somewhere else... I'm sorry if I didn't understand your latest post as well. I'm sure, you'll also get the attention of an official if you use another forum to post your idea.

PS: I remembered the masses of gamers who sell a game after playing it through. And some of them are so smart to buy it again when an expansion is released. That means: no saves, no install then as well. Just saying.
