The "black" eyed character symptom is not a "bug" at all, it is a function of using the Low Graphical settings that are required for either elderly (Xn00 Radeons) or Bare-minimum, (weak) low performance video cards in Dragon Age.  Supposedly, it's "dark brown" eyes, not black, but I haven't seen it personally.  Changed to Medium Graphics with more normal textures, the Low End video cards must slow down to a very sedate speed to display animation, or the gamer has to choose a lower, coarser, screen resolution.

Since onboard video chips do not equate to "Graphics Cards", the fact that those are lower quality still, and are already running slowly, even with blacked out eye color, means there is no Ultra Low Quality setting for them, no resolution that is low enough for such games as this to "run" in a normal fashion when such terrible stuff has the textures or image quality set above the lowest..

Be glad the game still works running that slowly (as will happen with Low End business level video hardware).  Mass Effect 2 also has almost the same symptom from some bad video drivers and / or some low end video cards, however, the entire eyeball, eyelids and all, is missing.  If the card is really slow in ME2, the card doesn't even allow the game to function, killing off the environmental interaction!

There is also a very rare situation in which bad graphical software can interfere with the display of blood splatter, eye colors, and generally better image qualities.  If you have this symptom from your excessive economy choice on graphic card, you really shouldn't expect any fix for it, other than to replace very low quality / very old graphics with newer hardware.

For comparison, the official requirements for Mass Effect 2 listed a large number of low end video hardware that wasn't supported for that game, although some of those can run Dragon Age with small textures and / or with 800 by 600 coarse screen resolutions.

Video Card = 256 MB (with Pixel Shader 3.0 support). Supported GPU Chips: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 or greater; ATI Radeon X1600 Pro or greater. Please note that NVIDIA GeForce G.210, 7100, 7200, 7300, 7400, 7500, 8100, 8200, 8300, 8400, 9100, 9200, and 9300; ATI Radeon X1300, Xpress 2100, HD 2400, 3000, 3100, 3200, HD 3450, HD 3470, HD 4200, HD 4250, HD 4350, (and probably the HD 5450) are below minimum system requirements. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required. Intel  and S3 video devices are not officially supported in Mass Effect 2.

The forum's own Search is really awful, but even it would have prevented there ever having been any need at all to have a new thread about this subject once again, today.

"Your search for {black eyes} returned 6 result/s."

When the game player's hardware does not meet the requirements, there is no "Game Problem" to discuss in here. There is an Off Topic forum for complaining about why the requirements are where they are, and this forum can be used for suggesting replacement hardware that will meet the requirements, but whining and complaining about either the bad hardware or the game requiements is like beating a dead horse. It isn't going to get up and run, and neither can a Sow's Ear be magically transformed into a Flying Silk Purse.

For the new arrival, the forum's own search said this:

"Your search for « black eyes » returned 15 result/s."

If the game's own configuration chooses the Low Quality setting, that means the hardware is inadequate for Medium Quality and Textures.

You can't have pretty graphics running at nice, smoothly animated speeds without the appropriately selected hardware.  You can compromise through reducing screen resolutions to the minimum, say 800 ny 600, but low quality hardware is simply going to handle the games poorly.  That's part of the nature of PC Gaming.

The real facts are that progress in games has been at a virtual standstill for at least three years now.  The console platforms have chosen to stretch the time between generations, and stopped with Dx9 graphics, and the best return on investment is to produce multi-platforn games.  that means that High End graphics cards from three years ago are still basically able to handle Medium settings now, while most of the Mainline graphics cards from three years ago are still above today's minumum requirements.

Gentle reminder: just because there is a load of cheap RAM attached, it doesn't turn a junk graphics card into anything special. The RAM is what you think about after deciding whether you want a full power gaming card, or a super power enthisiasts' card, and are deciding on your display resolution.
