These were posted in the big vanguard thread but I think it's good to get this info out to everyone.

Guys, I don't know how I goofed earlier since I deleted the old vids, but I've since refilmed in 1080p doing the same tests several times and with the new numbers the scimi actually comes in last. The time only gets worse if you don't melee in between since it requires a 5th shot and you don't lose any time with the 1 melee 1 shot rotation. As for the improved katana time, the katana fires fast enough where 2 melee attacks actually hurts your time which is what I had done in the first vid. The katana should be fired in a 1 shot 1 melee rotation.

Here are the new times

CLAYMORE

7.00 attacked klixen
8.833 killed klixen

1.833 total time spent

SCIMITAR

6.700 attacked klixen
9.833 killed klixen

3.133 total time spent

EVICERATOR

7.683 attacked klixen
10.083 killed klixen

2.445 total time spent

KATANA

7.017 attacked klixen
9.433 killed klixen

2.416 total time spent

and a link to the video. Will be 1080p when it's done processing.

So here is my shotguns comparsion, it is not 100% objective, since enemies never are in the same position, I am used to using the Claymore so I probably suck with Scimitar and Evi etc.
Also, on my Claymore run there were 4 guys, not 3, so we can either count time til the 3rd guy is dead or penalize the other two with a few extra seconds.
Inferno Ammo, Insanity, Miranda+Grunt, 4/5 Shotgun damage upgrades.

www.youtube.com/watch

Claymore: Charged at 06:039, 3rd guy dies at 09:576, 4th at 11:778
Evi: Charged at 31:231, 3rd guy dies at 35:202
Scimitar: Charged at 53:253, 3rd guy dies at 58:692

(got the numbers from VirtualDub)
Very comparable results confirming what we have been saying since a long time ago :D - it comes down to personal preference.
So I still prefer Claymore, just for the feel it has, but I am a stubborn Vanguard refusing to use anything but Shotguns unless I cannot Charge the fookers

Since they are so close it really comes down to if you prefer accuracy, raw power, or constant damage.

Yep, that pretty much sums it up. :)

The shotguns in ME2 are very well balanced. Although I still thinking HL2's shotgun is my favorite in gaming, I don't remember having so much fun with a shotgun as I have in ME2.

.

Between them all, I take the Claymore. Just to much awesome.

Did you try using the scimitar without melee attacks in between/tapping shots/did it hurt its dps? It seems like with enough damage upgrades you should be able to get a higher dps with it without meleeing in between shots. Also - did you try the eviscerator using only one melee attack between shots?

It seems like the claymore numbers are a little misleading since it finishes at 0 ammo, evisc at 0.33 ammo, scimitar at 0.5 ammo and katana at 0.4 ammo, so you'd have to reload again (or melee first/reload, still slightly lower dps) before hitting another enemy, etc. (though the burst damage is great, for sure - the reload just puts it more in line with the other shotguns).

Also x2: Thanks for doing this stuff at all. =)

Edit: also x3. The eviscerator/claymore have a 1.25x damage mod vs armor and 1.25x vs shields/barriers, whereas the katana/scimitar are just 1.5x vs shields/barriers, so this would screw with the test a little also.
